sliced bread. >> the president has a way of putting it. even the president, who normally roots for the white sox, wants them to stop by the white house. former rays advisor don zimmer played for the cubs, coached and managed the team back when they won a national league east title in 1989. his grandson, our 10news reporter beau zimmer, shared these precious family photos remembering don zimmer as one of the favorite coaches time. rays and cubs fans are feeling nostalgic on facebook following the world series win. one says sending huge congratulations to zobrist and maddon. we misyou both. both teams should be congratulated for the best series ever. is joe maddon special or what? first the rays and the cubs. hilda says throughout this incredible ride my only regret

we are giving you an up-close look at the memories that the zimmer family holds so dear. you will only see this on 10news. >> 10news reporter beau zimmer is live at the zimmer home. beau, you called don pop, your grandfather wore a jersey for many major league baseball teams, but the cubs were truly something special to him? >> reporter: well, hey there, reggie. yeah, this whole has brought back a lot of mem mease. i was 9, 10 years old in 1989 when he was manager of the cubs. that was the year they were picked to finish last place in the national league east, and ended up winning the division. so it was a very special year. and you saw those bats that were being made earlier. well, these are bats throughout my grandad's career. this is a 1959 world series bat

know, pee wee reese. look at some of these. don drysdale and folks who played for the brooklyn dodgers. let me show you this bat here. this was the 1989 national league east division champions. you can see don zimmer right there. mitch webster. joe is girardi, who is now the manager of the new york yankees. so, you know, it's like a big family in i want to show you some memorabilia throughout the house. my grandfather a big horseracing fan. somebody had this sent to him when he was the manager of the cubs. this is a jockey's uniform. a lot of fun here. this is a very special trophy right here. in 1989, the year they finished first in the nl east, he was named manager of the year. so that was probably one of the

career. in fact, as we walk back this way, it's one of the few portraits, team photos of the entire team that we have hanging up in the house. real quick before we run out of time, i want to introduce you to my grandma who has been amazing throughout the years. she keeps a scrapbook for every single year. before this series started, grams, you sat down to watch one of the world series games. you got a phone call? >> yes, a very special phone call. joe maddon. i couldn't believe an hour before the game. >> reporter: he called you up right before the game? >> he thought, what's he doing calling me when there are so many important things to do. but anyways, he just wanted to check on me and see how i was doing. and i thought that was really nice. and now i'm looking in the scrapbook. this is 27 years ago. wait till this year. this is after they won the eastern division championships.

>> reporter: what is this? >> this is the lineup card placed in the dugout when they did win in montreal. >> reporter: yep, the year they clinched. a lot of history in these books and a lot of stuff. in fact, you told me a while back that the hall of fame actually called at one point. so they might be interested in some day getting some of these scrapbooks? >> they asked me what i was going to do with them. i said when i am gone they will probably have a bonfire. they said no, no. this >> reporter: too much history. >> reporter: okay. well, grams, thank you so much. i know you had fun watching the cubs. a lot of great memories in chicago, and you couldn't wish for a better baseball town. courtney, i know you're a big cleveland fan, but we here in the zimmer family, we were rooting for joe maddon, ben zobrist and the chicago cubs. >> you know, i am so happy that

we asked more than a dozen voters to give us their one- word opinion about this election and no one had anything positive to say. there are about a dozen federal holidays and now there is a push to add one more. why some say you should get paid to vote. it looks like a simple box of pizza, but the pie ordered all the way from new jersey helped change the day for a amendment 1 is endorsed by florida's firefighters... because it does solar the right way. amendment 1 protects consumers from scams, and unsafe solar installations. putting a wife to work is a very dangerous thing.

you plan that out. well, the florence township fire department is nowhere near downtown st. petersburg, but the first responders there made a huge difference in the life of a fellow emt this week. 10news reporter bobby lewis out on the road in st. pete where a simple slice of pizza lifted spirits from 1,000 miles away. >> when you say pizza, i think pizza box, you know, down on central. >> reporter: hot oven, pizza box is busy. >> i can't keep track of that. >> reporter: lately they have gotten so many orders to count, but one stands out. >> i am like, oh, that's crazy. where are you guys? they told me they were calling from out of state. >> reporter: how many orders do you get from new jersey? >> you know, i think it's none. here in florida there is no law requiring your employer to give you time off to vote. >> but some companies are now going all in. they are giving workers the entire day off to vote. the owner of this dallas restaurant is closing the doors and giving every employee from the kitchen to the dining room a paid that way they cannot only cast their ballot, but then they will watch the returns as they come in. >> we have that opportunity to vote like we do here. that's what makes america great is this day of voting. >> and listen. it is not political. he says he is still undecided. more companies are taking this step to encourage voter turnout. big names like sportswear
