protests over the election of donald trump continued. several groups-- gathered right here in the tampa bay area. but with the to accomplish? 10news reporter beau zimmer is was in ybor city -- and talked to many of these protestors. from the streets of ybor. to downtown tampa. a number of protests breaking out across the city. members of the black lives matter movement. teaming up with other organizations. at one point sitting down to chant and block traffic. 27:30 the power of the people won't stop. downtown at the

echoed through the streets. 15:18 a lot of people are frustrated. a lot of people have had it up to here with our system. we are not happened with donald trump as president. he needs to be removed. that's what we're out here to get. and while others acknowledge that's unlikely to happen. many are just hear to send a message. 18:11 my goal is to instill in people that love is love. and trump can't do anything about it. and while many. this is their first time voting in an election. vietnam veteran. and former pow. john parsels. has seen this all before. 10:28 i think its similar. but then it was about war and now its about the presidency which is a lot bigger problem. and while the crowd did run into trump supporters throughout the night. others say they're proud to see so many. making sure their voices are heard. 12:34 its really important for these young people.

ours. to know that we support them. that not every baby boomer votes for trump. beau zimmer, 10news wtsp. and its not just here in tampa bay. thousands from coast to coast hit the streets in protest. they flooded streets and shut down interstates in major cities including denver, minneapolis, and portland, oregon. they say they are angry trump will be the next president. on twitter thursday, the president-elect called the demonstrators quote "professional protesters, incited by the media." president-elect trump met with president obama for the first time thursday during a 90-minute meeeting at the white house. they talked about the transition of power. the president is urging americans to support their new leader. mr.

mr. trump also met with house speaker paul ryan and senate majority leader mitch mcconnell. he promised immigration reform and healthcare will be his top priorities when he takes office. by the way -- mr and mrs. trump will sit down with "60 minutes'' for their first post election interview this sunday, right here on cbs and 10 news. this morning - fears flood the l- g-b-t-q community - terrified what a trump administration could mean for the progress they've made toward equality. 10news reporter kendra conlon looks at how the election results - could rollback their rights.

there was an extremely large police presence east of lake parker in lakeland. new information is just coming in about a shooting, where 2 deputies killed a suspect off delrose drive north. the sheriff says the 53 year old man shot his mother 2 times in the legs. they shot him after breaking up a fight with his brother. investigators

10 investigates' noah pransky found the bay pines system wasn't following federal laws when it came to getting veterans mental health care. much like the missions he served during the vietnam war.....george barbour is on a mission to help his fellow veterans fight a war at home. the military was their job and when they come back they're lost. barbour is a va whistleblower who worked at bay pines. he's also a veteran who's wrestled with the mental challenges of coming back from war himself. and he turned to 10investigates earlier this year after he says va supervisors were allowing uncertified counselors to work with veterans suffering from p-t- s-d. we need to have the best care for these individuals they sacrificed a lot for us. the va has a program called "peer specialists," where veterans who have recovered from ptsd themselves are trained to help their peers still struggling with it. it's such an important program that president obama signed an executive order in 2012 expanding it...and improving oversight. but 10investigates discovered the va wasn't following

guidelines, failing to confirm counselors' certifications, as well as their federally-required continuing education. they don't check. they take my word for it that i have these certificates the va denied multiple interview requests.... and it wasn't terribly forthcoming with our records requests. but we did prompt change, as they're now getting those counselors trained better, and sidelining those who aren't yet up- to-speed. barbour says he thinks it's happening all across the country...which echoes the findings from the 10news investigative network, which doctors performing tens of thousands of traumatic brain injury tests on veterans! in an email, va told us peer specialist program is "supplementary to all of the other wonderful therapeutic activities" provided to veterans with mental health issues. and it comes with extra scrutiny and oversight. but this whistleblower says it isn't always the case for these specialists with intimate access to our vulnerable veterans. i'm a veteran. i care about these kids they're my future. without them, where we going to be in twenty years from now when

suspect. during the traffic stop ,philando told the officer he had a gun permit and reached for his wallet. officer yanez then shot castile several times. castile's girlfriend then captured the moment live on facebook. nats here.... in our re-enactment we show how the scene went down. we approached the car and as you can see the officer placed himself in a compromising position, directly in front of the suspect. at first the suspect makes an abrupt move. sot in-19:52:00 once they state i have a gun and gun permit then there shouldn't be any movement. in-19:36:20 even though the man was reaching for his wallet the officer doesn't know that. nats sound.... shots were fired when castile reached for his wallet. the officer later stated he thought the suspect was reaching for a gun. nat sound.... in-20:23:00 irregardless of how you feel, you have to comply with what he says. you have to follow what the officer is saying.

good morning and welcome to 10 news this morning. i'm allison kropff. and i'm ian reitz. another night of protests across the nation in response to our president- elect donald trump. demonstrators in red and blue states alike once again took their frustration to the streets. 10news reporter emerald morrow is live in ybor city where local protesters filled the streets. emerald, this anger doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.
