diabetes day, and a plant city high school junior's attempt to raise awareness about type one diabetes ended up getting her in trouble. 10 news reporter jonathan petramala shares her message with you. it's a tedious routine emily conrad has had since she was six. pricking her finger eight to 12 times a day to test her insulin levels so many misconceptions about a disease where the body does not produce insulin that allows the body to break down sugars and starches you eat emily started her own club, the "dead pancreas society" to raise money and awareness about the disease and what it entails. emily's mom mary graminski designed these t-shirts last year for the club to wear on a type one diabetes walk. since it was world diabetes day, with it's own google
