a 12 year old student--- stalked on snapchat! what's even more shocking? it was by her teacher! frustrations on facebook that 26 year old cory hansen is only sentenced to 5 years probation. snapchat users tell 10news reporter kendra conlon the settings we should all be checking right now - to protect ourselves from online stalkers. snapchat's a way to share our life - and funny pictures with friends... but predators stalking your stories - can be easily unmasked. baker knight and his buddies also know the

app... only adding people they know. a 12 year old girl says her middle school teacher cody hansen repeatedly stalked her on snapchat under different user names... saying she was cute.. asking her if she'd ever kissed anyone and liked older men. she did the right thing - saving several screen shots as evidence and reporting it. you can also block users preventing them from sending snaps, viewing chats or seeing your stories. to prevent someone from stalking where you are... you can disable your location in your phone settings. and although the message itself disappears - someone can take a screen shot. if that happens... snapchat sends you an alert. but your picture can be secretly saved... if the user puts the phone in airplane mode - without closing the app and

blocks you from sending a snap... helping to conceal your current location. it'll post when the phone re-connects. alyssa burger's a hillsborough county teacher and says this is why social media - is off limits between teachers and students. in st. pete, kendra conlon, 10news wtsp here's something else to check. the teacher admitted to finding the student's - from her instagram account. so again, be careful about the information you share publicly, on all of your social media profiles. new this morning -- the overtime rule-- set to kick in next week-- is on hold for now! a judge-- blocked it-- after "21 states and business groups" challenged it-- calling it unlawful. so what does tonight's decision mean? well first of all this is not a final decision. the judge in this case has simply delayed the december 1st date. this rule was set to take effect until this could go through the legal process.

make most people who make less than 47-500, eligible for overtime. that's about 4 point 2 million americans! so what does this mean for the bottom line?? an employee making 40-thousand dollars a year, who averaged 5 hours of overtime a week, would be owed an extra 144 dollars in ot pay, which adds up to an extra 7,500 dollars a year. this was one of president obama's big missions for his final year in office. so why was this law being challenged? many companies say, this is totally unfair to force these changes on us. many, especially retail stores, have been scrambling to shuffle around their employees in time for the holiday shopping season. to get around that rule, many companies like walmart, already announced pay increases for their low level managers, just a few dollars over that thresh hold to avoid having to pay overtime. the question is, what happens to those employees now? we'll have to wait and see. the parents

horrible school bus crash in tennessee are saying they were worried about the driver long before he wrapped the school bus around a tree. five young students were killed. investigators say 24 year-old johnthony walker was driving recklessly, "well above the ed miles per hour." he is charged with vehicular homicide. a deputy in the right place at the right time, not only tackled a suspected bank robber -- but victims say the same man, tried to car jack them! one of those victims spoke exclusively to 10news, thankful that man's now in jail. it all started in the wells fargo bank on state road 54 in new port richey, moved into the winn dixie parking lot and ended just across that busy four lane road. he got elias

deputies say he robbed the wells fargo by acting like he had a gun under his shirt. after he got the cash -- he needed a ride. the woman you just heard from was in the parking lot for winn dixie. when she he tried two more cars before the deputy spotted him, chased him, tackled him and arrested him. they never found a gun. these exploding airbags have become a very familiar sight! takata airbag recalls-- now number in the millions-- affecting a dozen automakers. but today -- one of them is getting a reprieve. general motors has been granted a request-- to delay recalling potentially defective airbags-- in nearly 7-million of its trucks and s- u-v's. that could save the

g-m claims-- its inflators are unique and safer than those already linked to 11 deaths from takata airbags. the company has until next august to prove its claims. 10investigates prompting changes, nationwide! this after exposing monday night how safety recalls were getting ignored in taxicabs and rideshare vehicles all across the country. investigative reporter noah pransky helped break the news. and he's back - with an update on "hazards for hire". and how it may keep you safer next time you ha we found oustanding safety recalls in more than a quarter of the taxis, lyfts, and ubers we examined from tampa to new york to seattle....and other places in-between! some issues were mundane. but others - much more serious: airbags, door latches, and accelerator pedals. and now, hillsborough county's public transportation commission may close that recall loophole that's putting riders at- risk. kyle cockream tells us he'll bring up the investigation at the agency's next board meeting in december. his goal: to add a recall scan to the taxicab inspection process, so any risky ride gets repaired. "make no mistake about it, i mean, we need to be working with those companies to get those vehicles either satisfied with to the recall, or removed from the road....we'll be more than happy to do that." the good news: we've already prompted one cab company to expedite their fixes here! meanwhile, we also showed how neither lyft nor uber inspected theiiv recalls.... and we found plenty with issues too.... however, since we contacted uber, they sent out a notice to all u.s. drivers, urging them to take 5 minutes to check for safety issues in the vehicles they're driving you around in. we'll keep pushing for improved safety! noah pransky, 10investigates.

security cameras or dash cameras. they might have captured something quite astronomical monday night. astronomers suspect it was a meteor streaking across the sky at around 17-thousand miles per hour, disintegrating in the atmosphere that created a bright flash. 10 news reporter jonathan petramala saw it with his own eyes. it was about 11-17 last night. driving home from work, less than a block from my house when i saw something astronomically...bri ght if you saw it, the american meteor society has a website where you can report your sighting.. any videos of the meteor help astronomers to figure out where it came down and possibly even where it might have hit...if it made it that far. in st petersburg, jonathan

wtsp. president obama jonathan petramala, 10 news wtsp. president obama invited "21 americans to the white house" on tuesday and presented them with the medal of freedom -- the nation's highest civilian honor. among those recipients was ellen degeneres -- who teared up while receiving the honor. she was recognized for her decades of activism and contributions to pop culture. but she almost didn't make it. earlier she tweeted that she was stuck outside the white house because she forgot her i-d. this is president obama's last medal of freedom ceremony. he has now given out the

who deliberately shot you? a tampa woman found the strength and faith to forgive a young man who nearly killed her! 10news anchor met debby baigire 26 years ago- when she was a victim of this crime. now, he sits down with her again-- about how her feelings toward the shooter changed over the years and why the two now have a special friendship. this picture captures an embrace that was 26 years in the making. ian manuel had just been released from prison after serving 26 years. debbie baigrie hungs the man who shot her in the face. she wanted to be there when he walked out of prison a free man. while there is joy now...debbie clearly remembers the

showed compassion, debbie says ian's family was not so kind to her. in-21:09:50 they were so against me, his mother screaming at me, it was horrible. you were the one that was shot..yeah so it began, this journey of forgivness and healing.phone calls and numerous letters between the two over the years. debbie says it's not easy to forgive people these days. but fear and anger were taking it's toll on her and she began to realize she had to let it go. in-21:16:25 to me holding on to anger and not forgiving is on in-21:18:00 i couldn't do anything for ian, but lets help other kids in the same situation. debbie is doing just that, she and others are sponsoring at risk kids like ian and finding ways to raise college money. imagine this: you're driving down the road-- when all of a sudden a deer runs right in front of your car. do you know what to do?
