the fire started on chimney top mountain, one of the smokies' most popular hiking destinations, then quickly spread to the quaint resort cities of gatlinburg and pigeon forge. 10news reporter sarah hollenbeck is in the newsroom. sarah, hundreds of acres are burning right now and the fire is only getting stronger.... yes, it's not only destructive but extremely dangerous, as emergency workers evacuate people in gatlinburg, pigeon small towns around the area, firefighters from 16 states are working to battle the massive blaze. right now-- the fire continues to burn around the city of pigeon forge, were at least 500 people have been evacuated. sharing terrifying videos as they leave their homes, hotels and businesses behind. more firefighters will be getting to tennessee from around the country this morning to

artan had recently transferred to ohio state after getting his associates degree from a community college in the spring. officials are looking into a post he allegedly made on facebook shortly before the attack. in the post he said he was sick of the way muslims were being treated. like they have with many natural disasters and attacks...facebo feature. this is believed to be the first time it had been used on a u-s college campus. the feature has been used dozens of times for people to mark "safe", "unsafe" or outside the affected area. you may remember facebook activated the check in during the pulse nightclub shooting and hurricane matthew here in florida. people in cuba have been lining up by the hundreds to say goodbye and mourn the death of fidel castro. photographs of the leader line revolutionary square in havana

disney world. according to doing florida dot com, epcot will be the next park to get some new features. at a recent expo, walt disney parks and resorts' chairman announced that the theme park will undergo a quote, "major transformation." no details have been announced yet, but reports say epcot could be getting a guardians of the galaxy themed ride. this is pretty exciting. after being struck by a car in clearwater, a bald eagle has finally recovered enough to return to the

this was really scary.. this was the scene after a man reported seeing a woman jump out of an airplane in houston on monday. the plane from new orleans had just landed when it happened. police and k-9 officers came on board to check and make sure everything was o-k. passengers sat on the runway for more than an hour while investigators talked to people on board. the woman was treated for minor injuries. it's not known

children that it is better to give than receive. as it turns out there is actual proof in the old saying. doctors have looked at studies that show 'giving' can boost physical and mental health of the giver. a previous study by the national institutes of health looked at the m-r-i's of people who gave to various charities and found that giving actually stimulates the 'reward center' of e researchers call the releasing of endorphins a quote, "helpers high." however doctors say that you really only reap these rewards of giving when the giving is your choice. when you feel compelled to give a gift or have to give for the sake of taxes, those good feelings don't follow the same way. giving may help you live longer too.
