>> i have the hottest ticket on the planet right now, that's for sure. and it's priceless. we'll never give it up for any amount. >> reporter: officials are preparing for an onslaught of onlookers, perhaps in the thousands. >> you'll be standing in the hot sun with a lot of people and will not be able to see the memorial. >> reporter: for those that want to view his last dance, 88 movie theaters around the nation will be simulcasting the event. >> the fact that the family put this together while they are in mourning, i want to thank them. >> reporter: it is not expected how large the police presence will be out here, but it is expected to rival that of the olympics. mindy meizell, fox 5 news. >> and here is a list of

time. mr. barack obama working to reshape a relationship between the u.s. and russia. he says they are not destined to ant agonists. and later he plans to meet with miguel gorbachev. yesterday he met with am edef and agreed to reduce their new here preparation by one-third. and the nuclear talks, is that going to be the biggest news out of this? >> the nuclear reducti beating into the plow shares is good news. it's not clear yet entirely what might come out of his talks with vladimir putin. many believe he remains the power center.
7:17 am
so we'll have to see what comes ow -- out of that. i think it will come between starring into his eyes and seeing his soul or staring into his eyes and seeing kgb and i think this is better to establish ties. >> and it will be interesting to see what does come out. but i think you mentioned it too, is the fact if there was any question about who at least the u.s. is envisioning as e man behind the power in russia, despite the fact he met with russia's president yesterday, do you get the opinion that putin is the one that u.s. wants to deal with the most. >> i think they want to make sure he's on board with everything they're doing because if not, it may not come forward. the president dodged the question about who was in power in russ. so while he's signing treaties or agreements with med ved, he's also meeting with putin.
7:18 am
>> and we talk about the talks with russia, saying reduce the number of war heads, but i think the president thinking big here and helping with other nations such as north korea and iran, are we at the point we can work with them. >> i think this is phone call in the dating process, to figure out what time you're going to meet and where you're going to meet and whether you want to go in that direction. and i think that's starting to go on here. but this is sort of -- preliminary stuff. and there seems to be an agreement for the u.s. to fly over russian air space to get to afghanistan which should save the u.s. quite a lot of money and it's a nice gesture from the russians, given their history with afghanistan. >> you know, if you go -- you only have to go a few years to see which era of u.s.-russian relations we're in because it does continue to change. the russian media does seem to
7:19 am
have a luke warm attitude toward president obama than some of these other european nations that are still the rock star status that i think some have thrown out there. do you get the feeling that russian people are looking for more relations with the united states at this point. >> i don't think the russian people are a monolith. i think some of them -- western culture has for the past 20 years been invading russia and i think what we expert in terms of culture is desirable over there but at the same time if the president has to go and say we're not natural antagonists, there's an indication that some people think that the united states and russia are and tag onists. >> and he's saying that to a group of young people which is what helped him here in the united states and perhaps that's a strategy over there as well. >> i don't know how you say hope and change in russia, but
7:20 am
i think that's the message. >> what do you expect the headlines to be coming out of russia in the next few days. >> i think one of the things about big diplomacy is that its control and you know what is coming out of the meeting before you go into the meeting. so i don't think we'll see any surprises. in fact, i think no surprises is a good thing for the administration and for the president. >> especially in dealings with russia. so far so good. but as i mentioned, a couple of big things, the nuclear talks and the troop movement to help with afghanistan. jonathan allen, thank you for joining us this morning. allison, back over to you. 7: this tuesday. is your social security number vulnerable to security breaches. coming up on fox 5 morning news, why your risk for identity theft may be all in the numbers. we'll explain. and also ahead, a shotout from his home country again. the president of honduras is returning to the united states.

relationships. joining us is greta van sustern. >> good morning. >> good morning. >> and why is this someone who i dare say very few have actually met, sat down with, but we feel is connection. why? >> well essentially we're trying to make sense of what just happened. it isn't normal. it upsets our normal order of things. this is a super sized genius who has had this megaexperience of life. he's not supposed to die at 50. and we are emotionally involved with him. and when that happens, we're back trying to figure it out. >> it almost seems like in the days after the 9/11 that you said maybe turn the tv off every now and then. >> well what happens is you do become kind of hooked. it's a mesmerizing sort of experience and the more you watch it, the more you realize this isn't supposed to happen. and so you keep going back trying to make sense of it. and of course, you can get very addicted. >> i find that a lot of people i'm speaking with, they say that all they want to listen to
7:35 am
is michael jackson. i have like the whole greatest hits in my car right now. that's all i want to listen to and my kids and a lot of the people on the street. >> it's a very common phenomenon. >> why would we surround something that makes us -- >> well now the sense he isn't ours any more, that we can lose him, of course we have already lost him, but the sense we can lose him reinvests us with the need to grab ahold of him so we want to gain him back against, so hence the listening to his music, the involvement and obviously not rational, but the attempt to get him back. >> and obviously michael jackson did not start this phenomenon. we have seen this. we've seen in one era, a lot of political leaders shot, taken from us suddenly. we saw princess diana, elvis, john lennon, this is not a new phenomenon. does it touch the same cord? >> it does. because these people evolk a lot of emotion in us.
7:36 am
whether it's disgust or that we're aweed by them. they stir up an emotional response and so when something like this happens we are emotionally involved and michael jackson, for better or worse, had some elements that were very human and we've become very attached to the realities of knowing the intimate details of his life. we're invested. we were in invested in michael jackson's life. >> as we're watching john lennon video. the ty that you saw michael jackson through these 40 years, so someone like myself, 43, you grew up with it. john lennon, the same thing, you saw the phenomenon and then saw him evolve into the man that he was. sort of the same phenomenon? >> well their music, whether it's music or something else, causes us to feel joy orureoria or excitement or it sort resets our psyche and inspires
7:37 am
us. so we're in some sense this great -- we're grateful. and we seek to thank them for it but they're not there any more and we become very involved in trying to find the object of that gratitude. he's not there and it's very upsetting and not natural. >> selfishly do we see our mortality in the death of these icons. >> we do. and that's another part of it. our superstars aren't supposed to be flesh and blood like we are and when we see that they are, it's a source of great -- we can't stop thinking about it because it reminds us, gee, if their flesh and blood and we thought they were superstars, what does it say about us? >> are you surprised that worldwide there have been reports that people have taken their lives out of this, these people might be unbalanced in some way, but have taken their lives because of the death of michael jackson? >> well these superstars do symbolize some things in us that can be healthy or
7:38 am
unhealthy. and when we give them meaning that they may not truly have in our lives, but do on a very deep psychological and perhaps unhealthy level, then we can be very vulnerable. and our moods can be deeply affected. >> got to let you go. just the last word here. is it time to put our riller cd away now? >> absolutely not. this is a time to give ourselves an opportunity to grief or even to gossip, whatever it is. it's a way of working out our emotions. >> i feel like i owe you some money right no >> i'll put it in the bill. >> thank you very much. and we want to remind you that fox 5 will broadcast the memorial at 1:00 and we will be streaming it live at foxdc.com. if you look at our website there is a large link at the top that will take you to the stream. right now you can see the activities outside of the tapele -- the staples center.
