you may not know this, but october is national domestic violence awareness month and washington's all prorunning back clinton portis is teaming up with becky's fund for walk this way, a fashion show fundraiser to help put a stop to domestic violence. joining us this morning to talk about the event are becky lee, founder of becky's fund and clinton portis. good morning to both of you and thank you for coming in. we're happy to have you here. >> good morning. >> let's talk about the event. it is tomorrow night. it's co-hosted by eric fin custom clotheyers. becky, tell me what is happening. >> sure. we're excited to bing this issue into the open. domestic violence affects 1 in 3 women in the united states. and being that it's not a women's issue, it's a human right's issue, so we're thrilled to have our heft here clinton portis and the redskins make this public stance to talk about this issue and showing the committee how important it is to get involvedas males and
9:15 am
i'm exciting to bring together a fabulous event. we have sponsors from william, his friend, and from one source, arman harris and hasser audi and ferrari of washington. >> and you get asked to be involved in a lot of dierent things and u have to pick and choose because you can't be in everything, but what brought you to beck's fund? >> we got asked through the redskins. and they approached me with the idea of a fashion show. so i was all for that. and once he told me it was about, i it was like, yeah, i would love to be in that situation to be the voice behind that what she's doing i think is great. and i think a lot of people think it's just women that go
9:16 am
through that, but as i tell her, i've seen events like being in public where the man walked away and the woman constantly walked behind him nagging, slapping him in the back of the head and where he turned around and punched her and he's the one in trouble. but i think for women there's no need to egg on. let it be. you can find someone else. as a man, i don't think it's -- there's a woman in the world that can beat me in a fight so why prove it to them. >> who are some of them --ure corralled some of your friends to join you tomorrow night. who are some of those going to attend? >> well for the event that it was, i knew they were trying to get the top everybodyelon of guy -- echelon and i asked jason campbell, santana moss, and chris cooley. but then when you're sitting in the locker room and you ask albert or somebody else next to
9:17 am
them, you have to invite everybody. we just postd it on the board and told everybody we wanted them to come and bring their wives. i think this is a great event for a husband and wife to come to. so we just post it on the board and everybody was calling in and setting up their arrangements to arrive. >> so you have a great group of people coming to the event. becky, talk about how this all arted with you. and for those who are watching and think they may recognize you, becky was on survivor a couple of years ago. one of the competitors. and some of your winnings from that show helped you to set this up, correct? >> sure. i've been working on the issue of domestic violence for over 12 years now. as both an advocate and also an attorney. and three years ago i was approached by a casting agent to tryout fosurvivor. we were divided into different tribes and i came in third and i thought was a great way to
9:18 am
use the media exposure to talk about this issue openly. so in 2006 i started becky's fund. our mission is to realize that 1 in 3 women are affected and also creating conventional based outreach to all communities and to all ages, and from military to the workplace and to even in schools. to try to get the voice out there to help people realize that this is an issue that concerns all of us. and a lot of times people blame the victim saying why don't they leave and the question should be why does the abuser continue to get away with abuse. >> it's all about creating awareness for the issue of domestic violence. tomorrow night at the liason hotel. go to myfoxdc.com and we'll link you to the website and the

ticket cost is tax deductible. >> i ask everyone to visit www.beckiesfund.org. and we only have 50 tickets left. so after the great win yesterday, we ask everyone to come attend the event. >> and speaking of the win yesterday. you had 25 carries for 98 yards, beat up going into the game. how do you feel now? >> i feel great. it's a monday morning. so you have to go work the kinks out. after here i need to go to therapy. after you lose, it's hard to get up. >> the first half was not pretty, obviously. but you guys came out fired up in the third quarter. what happened during halftime? did anyone make a speech to get you on track? >> i think as far as the first half, it was just one of those halves like i guess the carry
9:20 am
over from the week before. and i think it was like we can win this game and get ourselves ready. we can't let another game slip away. and for the defense, as you see right now, our defense stepped up and played great, despite the situations with turning the ball over and not moving it in the first half and scoring. and our offense eventually caught on. and when jason and santana hooked up, i knew we were winning. we had a bad first half, we won in the second half. >> do you think the team is impressing and you're on the right track? >> i think after being down 10- 0, going into the second half, to win the game, i think it was a booster. like i think sometimes you need to overcome something to realize where you're at.
9:21 am
and i know you see the town finally excited again. we won. we barely beat the rams and people had their head down like we lost and we barely go and lose to detroit and it's like we're the worst team in football and to pull off a win and come from behind, i think it gave the hope and energy back into the fans. >> we all want you to win. and the day after a win it's tough to come in here when you have a full day in front of you. good luck with the event tomorrow night. cky, it's a great cause and we hope everything goes well. we appreciate it. back to you. >> 9:21 right now. these tried her hand at acting and singing and now lindsey lohan has tried her
