under an hour. but we are expecting to hear from prison inmates who shared a cell with the man accused of murdering chandra levy. we're expecting to hear more of them as they testify today. and the washington intern who disappeared in 2001. guandique is charged with her murder and attempted sexual assault. and if you remember gary condit was romantically linked to levy who was once a main suspect. he has already taken the stand in the trial. armondo morales is one of the prison inmates who testified last week saying that guandique shared specific details on how he stalked levy and he seemed to relieved to get the secret off his chest and how he grabbed her and taking off with her money but telling the

prison inmate he no idea he had killed her. a forensic anthropologist took the stand last week saying that he found evidence that levy may have been strangled. it's significant because her body had badly decomposed so they did not determine what the cause of her death was at that time. now, as you know we had a six- daybreak in this trial. it was only due to scheduling conflicts. but again it should be a very interesting round of testimony as this trial gets set to get back underway here at 10:00 a.m. at d.c. superior court. live in northwest, sarah simmons, back to you. >> thank you very much. meanwhile anne arundel county police are investigating after a woman said she was attacked after taking out the trash. she went to the dumpster behind her drive and that's when a man approached and grabbed her, threatening her with a westmoreland and then sexually assaulting her before getting away. anyone with information should

call police. we have the latest now in that alleged bomb plan -- excuse me -- plot to bomb the metro system. the man believed it be involved is 34-year-old faroque ahmad. he pled not guilty for providing material support to terrorists. he allegedly made plans from his ashburn home which was raided two weeks ago. his trial is set to begin in april and he faced up to 50 years in prison if convicted. and an update on a story we told you yesterday morn. two teen-agers found shot on holbrook street in d.c. joseph sharps, jr., was killed. his friend shot in the leg but survived. sharp's family think that he had been joking around with a friend.

they say the gunman was offended and opened fire. both were students at spring arm school. and the president is in south korea. he wrote a letter to other world leaders pleading with them to work together, despite sharp differences. in indonesia last night he gave a speech on reaching out to the muslim world. >> i made it clear to america that america is not and never will be at war with islam. instead all of us must work together to defeat al-qaeda and its affiliates who have no claim to be leaders of any religion. certainly not a great religion like islam. but this is not a task for america alone. here in indonesia you've made progress in rooting out extremist and combating touch violence. >> last night's speech was similar to a speech the president game in cairo last

year. and a so-called handshake scandal from earlier in the day is making headlines. the administration minister tweeted he was forced to shake hands of the first lady, but video shows him smiling and offering both hands to michelle obama. he said due to his religious beliefs he avoids contact with women not in his family. and it appears democrats will keep the seat in the house. fimian did leave open the slight concept he could request a recount but only if he closes the 900 gap during another canvass of the election results. we're following a developing story from the road. sky fox live now over a serious crash in columbia, maryland. four people were hurt when two cars collided. we're told three of them are in

critical condition. investigators are still on the scene so watch for traffic delays in this area. trapped on a crippled cruise ship. no air-conditioning, no hot water. sounds like no fun. but it is the reality for more than 4,000 passengers and crew aboard the carnival cruise ship splendor. >> a fire in the engine room has left the ship drifting off the coast of california and mexico. but things are improving. gurvir joins us with details. >> the former fun seekers are cruising again, though very slowly. the first of several tugboats has arrived to pull those to dock. but for those stranded passengers it's probably not fast enough. >> reporter: 2300 passengers and nearly 1200 crew members all stuck in the middle of the ocean after a fire in the engine room monday morning. the fire was put out but it cut everything to the ship.

no refrigeration or cell phone service. >> it is dead in the water. passengers are being monitored closely and in good care and doing very well considering the circumstances. food ferried to the uss ronald reagan where they were dropped off on the cruise ship. they only had enough food to last through the day on tuesday. one tugboat had reached the ship but a second had to return to ensenada, mexico, because of a problem. passengers were bused into san diego, but instead the ship will be towed in later this week. but with passenger safety a priority, some are saying sending 4,000 crew ship passengers through the city of tijuana with drug battles and

trying to see if what you see here is a missile launch. a vapor trail was spotted on monday. it may have come from a private company but neither the defense department nor the military can explain what it was. a former navy commander can't believe it was an accidental launch. >> i just can't conceive of an example where it could be done by sheer accident because there is never just a one-man push the button operation. there are always a couple of people involved as a fail safe. >> norad, the north american air space defense command is calling it an unexplained contrail. it said there are no scheduled launches that day. but whatever it was, there is no threat to the u.s. >> so what do you think it was?

big limo let-down. >> this is the limousine the company sent us. >> the leather seats were slashed. >> the air-conditioner is not working. >> the driver was smoking a cigarette on the shuttle bus as we boarded. >> reporter: that's when things heated up. driver lunged at jackie's brother who had a video camera. she called the police. the driver got on the bus, rolled down the window, spit at her brother and then pulled away. >> we all just stood there with our mouth hanging open, what do you do? >> any reputable company will make sure that you get the right vehicle. even if they have to work with another company. >> reporter: bill morrow is executive director of the washington metropolitan area transit commission which licensed shuttle buses and large luxury vehicles. each year they get dozens of complaints. >> if it's one of our carriers, we can suspend or revoke their operating authority. >> reporter: the waters did

file a complaint with wmatc and asked american d.c. limousine for their $300 back. but when we started digging around, we found the company is not listed on the agency's website as a licensed carrier. state records show american d.c. limousine under the name of tanya gereve at this fairfax, virginia address. >> hi. i'm tisha thompson with fox 5. i'm looking for the grieves. >> it's a townhouse. >> and you're not the griefs? >> i am john grief. >> reporter: he told us his sister tanya was out of town. >> does she have a lot of companies? >> she has two buses. >> does she have any long white limousines? >> no. >> so she only has two buses? >> yeah.

>> reporter: but the bus that showed up for the waters company is from another limo company. in a response to a complaint filed with the state, american d.c. limousine said after having mechanical problems with its own vehicle it subcontracted with another transportation carrier and said the limo bus is considered an upgrade with leather seating, bar stocked with water and ice and a.c. they said the party members became aggressive with the driver who feared for his life. >> my mother is very upset. as you can imagine, i was very upset. >> reporter: american d.c. limousine tolds the waters since they refused the bus, no refund was owed. but after fox 5 started asking questions, the company changed it's tune and returned the $300. >> talk to people who have rented vehicled or hired vehicles. >> bill morrow said the team does what it can to find the bad apples, conducting street enforcement several times a year. but they can't catch them all.

the interyear secretary is -- the interior secretary is promised to give the capitol a face lift. this includes a new recycling initiative. renovations to walkways that are chipping away and renovations to the sea wall surrounding the tidal basin at the jefferson memorial which has sunk more than eight inches over recent years. park services is hoping it will be wrapped up in time for the cherry blossom festival next year. it was a crackdown on both drivers and pedestrians in arlington county to improv safety. yesterday police officers patrolled the intersection of wilson boulevard and north lynn street, one of the county's busiest intersection. more than 30 citations were handed out to drivers. and attention commuters. you can earn some cash and help the environment all at the same

road. and i found a book on how to pick up girls with hypnosis. and that was my first book. which was incredibly unsuccessful. i read through the book and i felt confident and i was on the playground one day and i walked up to the same girl and i said look into my eyes and she said you're freaking me out. and she kicked me where girls kick boys and that was my auspicious beginning. >> and yet you stuck with it? and here we are today? >> i don't take no easily. not in the stalker sense. but i left her alone. but i continued to learn from hypnosis. i felt like the information thatn that book wasn't legitimate. >> and in your act you talk about topical stuff. >> whatever comes up. >> you come to washington often. a lot of politics, the mid-term elections with the shellacking as president obama put it that he took. what are your thoughts on how things went with the elections? >> and this is why i couldn't

be a politician because on one hand you have to acknowledge something has happened or you look out of touch. on the other hand, you have to put the best spin on it possible. so you get the phrase a shellacking and then there is the turning around to say, what it is a referendum on. it is a referendum on your policies? no. health care? no, people love it. >> what is it the referendum on? >> people are just angry. but what about the 8% unemployment? yes, that was a really good goal. >> you're right it. be a politician, you have to be a spin-master. >> you do. i think politically speaking the headline of the week is matt lauer mends fences between president bush and kanye west. >> he did try to do that. >> i think this morning kanye

west, there was a video saying maybe i overreacted and men matt lauer said do you accept his apology and he said of course i do. and so matt lauer is a peace maker. >> that could be his next role. >> here is what i find interesting. kanye west caught less flack for insinu ating that president is a racist than he did for interrupting taylor swift in the vma. >> you are absolutely right. >> that is kind of weird. you can call president bush a racist but don't you interrupt that taylor swift. >> because she's an adorable little thing. but bush has a new book out. have you had a chance to read it? >> i have not. i have watched the interviews. he's been on oprah and with matt lauer and he's making the circus. and it's interesting, and i guess it's human nature that you're as interested in your legacy. in other words the perception of what you've done as opposed to what you've actually done. so i think in some respects president bush did some good

the d.c. area getting top honors in a new report about well being. according to the american human development project, washington and surrounding neighbors rank first in the top 10 largest metro areas when it comes to life expectancy and education and income. but there are racial disparities. the results are driven by the high education and income levels of americans living in the virginia suburbs. and there is another survey out there that don't look as good. travel and leisure magazine has released the annual favorite cities list and one of the surveys included is a list of cities with the least attractive people. >> washington, d.c. comes in at number six. >> outrageous. you don't want to be high on that list.

professional dancer when i grow up. it would be a cool experience. >> reporter: and you are advanced dancers and you've been a part of a lot of different shows. what makes this saturday night show so special? >> this saturday night show is special for all of us in different ways. but for me especially because all of my friends are coming this saturday. >> reporter: so do you get nervous when your friends come? >> yeah. >> reporter: but the nerves probably fuel you. when you are a performer, nerves are good because it helps you to perform at a higher level. what is the most challenging thing about being a dancer? >> all of the practicing and training. it takes a lot of time to remember your dances and get them down really good so you look good. >> reporter: because you always got to look good, girl. preaching to the choir on that one, i know. how do you remember everything? because you guys have done so many dances even just this morning. how do you keep it all straight? >> you have to make sure you are focused when you are dancing. if you are not focused, you will not remember so keep your mind open. >> and what kind of crowd do
