that had some offended. well they are exploding on to the country music scene. they join us live in studio this morning to talk about their tour with carrie underwood and perform for us. >> did they bring her along? >> not likely, steve. >> and we'll hear from them overnight. and the bigtory overnight was the weather. if you didn't wake up with a line of storms that blew through, you woke up to the damage left behind. >> here is the scene along massachusetts avenue near the naval observatory. a big tree came down at mass and edmunds street. massachusetts avenue now open again this morning. >> video from northeast d.c. now. heavy wind damage in the parking lot of the brentwood shopping center with an aj wright store and home depot. damage there to the outdoor garden section and a storage area. you can see it is pretty significant. nearby homes had parts of their roofs torn off. also damage on rhode island avenue between 2nd and 12th street. that section closed because of streets down into to maryland

now where firefighters have established a mobile command center in northeast baltimore. they are on the scene at fleetwood avenue, an area that experienced 80 mile-per-hour winds at 1:00 this morning. the national weather service plans to be out there today to investigate whether a tornado may have touched down. again that's in baltimore. well the rain may be over but we are not done with those winds just yet. >> it might be deceptive with sunshine today. tucker is breaking it down for us in the weather center. hi, tucker. we have a lot of wind in the forecast today. and mild temperatures and more sunshine than what we had around here during the day yesterday. let's get to it and show you the radar. you'll see the last vestages of the storm racing off. but philadelphia and new jersey experiencing a lot of damage as well as the storms were very intense. and you can see -- we're losing our last frame but they are north and east of new york city. here in washington, not a bad looking start. again, a lot of sunshine and mild temperatures out there. but we'll deal with very windy conditions. we have a windstorm moving in during the course of the day and a wind advisory just went

into effect moments ago through 4:00 this afternoon. expect winds to gust 40-45 miles per hour here close to washington and a little further out to the west along the ridge tops, they could gust to 50 miles per hour at times during the course of the afternoon. so a lot of wind in the forecast today. current conditions, mild out there. 60 degrees and humidity on its way down. 47%. winds out of the west at 10. and we've had recent gusts of about 20-25 miles per hour close to town. here is your forecast. a lot of sunshine but windy and warm for this time of year. look at the winds gusting to 45 miles per hour this afternoon. more details on the forecast and we'll look at the weekend. that looks pretty good. we'll look at that in a couple of minutes. back up stairs to you. >> tucker, thank you. to a traffic alert now. buehler road remains closed at the dulles toll road because a truck towk a backhoe caused some damage. some lanes had been closed but

they have all since reopened. our top story this hour, jury deliberations start in 30 minutes in the chandra levy murder trial. the jurors will decide if ingmar guandique killed levy in rock creek park some nine years ago. >> they'll have to convict with very little evidence. sarah simmons is live outside of d.c. superior court in northwest now with more on that. sarah, good morning. >> reporter: well good morning, steve and allison. attorneys had their closing arguments yesterday and today the jurors will begin deliberating in this case. it is now in their hands. they will try to decide whether or not ingmar guandique killed chandra levy in rock creek park online years ago. now the jury must make a decision on very little evidence here. there is no dna connecting guandique to the murder and there are no eyewitnesses. there is also no dna connecting gary condit to this as well, someone who had a former romantic relationship with levy. only a former cell mate of

guandique who has claimed that guandique confessed about killing chandra levy. prosecutors say that levy's death fits the pattern of other crimes that guandique committed back in 2001 and two attacks he's been convicted on in rock creek park. so the jury now has to listen or take into account both sides of the argument here. they'll take a look at witness testimony, evidence that has been gathered over this almost decade investigation they'll looking at. so they'll have two counts of felony murder that they have to decide whether or not he is guilty on. only two counts of felony murder. at this point there were other charges as well in this case. an attempted sexual assault charge being one of them. those charges were dropped earlier on so it is the two fell counts of murder that they are looking at and trying to decide if he is guilty on. and paul wagner will be down here throughout the day as he's been following the trial and we'll have latest out of what comes out coming up on fox 5

news at 5:00. we're live here in northwest. sarah simmons, back to you. another protest planned this morning over the death of a man at a d.c. nightclub. demonstrators said they will gather outside of the district alcohol beverage association today. last week they protested outside of a d.c. courthouse over the charges dropped over ally mohammed, after beaten to death after refused treatment into d.c. 9. today the board is deciding whether to give back the d.c. 9 liquor license. and more drama ahead for congress as both parties choose leaders for next year. nancy pelosi's fate hangs if the balance. doug luzader has the latest from capitol hill. >> reporter: both parties will try to put on a good public face today but for house democrats in particular, it's getting ugly behind the scenes. on the republican side, we more or less know what will happen. ohio representative john boehner will almost certainly be elected his party leader in

the house today and evenly become the new speaker of the house. but with him comes outgoing speaker nancy pelosi. she hopes to remain head as minority leader but that has raised eyebrows and encouraged one modern democrat to challenge here. >> we have to overcome this and make sure that republicans are overcome. >> reporter: and pelosi is expected to prevail. but another complications for democrats, what to do about south carolina's jim clyburn. he's the number three liter for house democrats -- but even democratic leader slides down a seat leaving him out in the cold. >> i want to be sure that jim, who was obviously our former whip, has some real

responsibility, has some input into what the caucus is doing. i want to make sure it's not a made-up position that has no teeth to it. >> and the race will be a continuing issue. charlie rangel was just found guilty of ethics violations and maxine waters is facing ethics charges of her own. in washington, doug luzader, fox news. more now on charlie rangel. found guilty of 11 ethics violations yesterday. he was convicted on charges related to financial and fundraising activities. the 80-year-old representative has spent half of his life in congress. you'll find out his punishment tomorrow. he could get a slap on the wrist, denied or face fees. and jack johnson and his wife leslie johnson appeared in court. wire taps caught a prominent liquor store owner and his wife discussing laundering millions of dollars and bribes to public officials and even immigrant

smuggling operations. he and his wife were being detained awaiting a trial because they are considered a flight risk. they donated to johnson's campaign. >> mr. johnson is the county executive and major business people. i think he knows quite a few of the business people. >> at the heart of the scandal is a program called the home fund. johnson is accused of taking payments from developer so they could get federal money from the program. johnson and his wife charged with witness tampering and destroying evidence. if convicted they could face up to 20 years in prison. well johnson has less than three weeks left in office. rushern baker joined us in studio last night to address the controversy. here is some of what he had to say. >> the justice system will play out. whatever is going to happen to the johnsons, it will happen. but people want to know their government is ready to work on december 6th and that's what i want to reassure them. we're talking about scandals right now. but when we started my campaign

in january, we talked about ethics reform and coming in and dealing with the perception of prince george's county and i want people to be clear that we are prepared to move this government forward. >> and maryland stiss police are a -- state police are awaiting an autopsy after finding a body in a card board box next to mile marker 48 near braddock mountain. they are not saying whether it was a man or woman, or the cause of death, only that it was a body of an adult. marijuana possession charges dropped against a veteran cbs radio news correspondent. howard aaroning ton was arrested along with his wife for growing pot plants. they both face charges, but the charges were dismissed when a witness did not appear at the hearing yesterday. three years after prince

it's 9:13 right now. to we'll take a closer look once again today at forgiveness. yesterday we shared the stories of two people, their lives forever changed by tragic events but they found it in their hearts to forgive. for them they say it was a necessary step to move on.

[ music ] [ singing ] >> the power of forgiveness is when you release the unforgiveness, the healing begins. >> forgiveness comes from a deeper understanding that when you hold the resentment, or when you hold a grievance or when you hold the need to get even or vengence or even so- called justice in the name of wanting to get even, it's like what nelson mandela said, it's like drinking poison and hoping it will kill your enemy. it's the worst thing you can do

for yourself. >> reporter: more and more evidence is pointing toward the healing power of forgiveness and the medical environment is taking notice. >> there are a few things i feel strongly about and the number one is the whole issue of forgiveness. and forgiving yourself and the people around you. and you have to allow yourself to make mistakes and get past those. and we look around the world at a place where people live a long time, we see patterns of humility, compassion, and forgiveness and it was part of their culture and it's what we need in our nature as well. >> angry emotions are shown to be what are called inflammatory emotions create inflammation in the body and in flammation is the background in a lot of diseases and possibly even in cancer. so forgiveness is the best way not only to heal the world, but to heal yourself.

[ music ] ♪ >> reporter: so how do we do it? how do we let go and forgive? nancy gillgarden, author of the power of pause, encourages people to get curious, not furious. >> something someone did was hurtful and we can't foreget it and we start putting what i call deposits in our resentment bank account. sometimes we don't know we're even doing it. what if we could stop and rethink, what did i stuff somewhere and can i take it out and look at it a little differently and maybe there is something i don't know that i don't know about what was going on that day for me or the other person. maybe you can't let it go right there, but you can begin to soften that hard knot and give yourself a choice. do i want to carry this around for the rest of my life. >> in addition to the personal

benefits of letting go, one decision to forgive, large or small, can effect your home, workplace and the community and the world in ways that are immeasurable. kylie could never have imagined what her act of forgiveness would do, especially for the person that least expected it. in 2008 anthony warren recognized that. >> to be blessed with the opportunity to be forgiven by a beautiful person like holly, it made me want to change. it made me not want to be colder and harder. it made me look at myself. she gave me a second chance to really make a difference and to show people out there that forgiveness is good. >> forgiveness isn't about letting somebody off the hook.

it's about letting yourself off the hook. not being weighed down. hurt people hurt people. but what would our world be like if we lived not hurting others because we were willing to release the anger? >> i couldn't sit at home and be angry and miserable and think to myself, why me? look at what she's done to me? that will eat you up. you might as well have left me there dead on the bridge that night. >> if we don't find a way to appreciate something working in our life, it can be so easy for us to just snap. >> and a lot of people today are angry at everything. what would our world be like if we just let go? >> do something that you like to do, like go for a walk or go fishing. whatever you like to do to calm you down. >> there is a beautiful prayer and of course america says that

every decision i make is a choice between a grievance and a miracle. it's up to you. choose a grievance or choose the resentment or retribution or choose anger or choose miracle. the choice is yours. >> to forgive is freedom to the mind. >> you are able to live your life with freedom. forgiveness is the way. the all holik drink four loko is losing it's caffeine jolt. the maker of the popular drink said it will remove the caffeine and pull the products from store shelves just as the food and drug administration was about to ban the drink. now when it comes back, not only will it not have caffeine but two other ingredients will also be missing. the so-called merchant of death is waiting to see a federal judge in new york later today. victor boot arrived from thailand last night accompanied by u.s. dea agents. russia is not happy about his extradition to the u.s. on terrorism charges. the rushan foreign minister said the u.s. put pressure on him to get here. he is a former russian air force officer and is accused of selling weapons to dictators. a confession posted on the

web and now a man from philadelphia could spend time behind bars. norman la boon admitted to threatening eric cantor in a video you put up on you tube. federal prosecutors say he pled guilty yesterday. in that video he called the congressman a liar and loosiver and threatened to shoot him. he could face up to 15 years in prison. the palin family all in the spotlight with the debut of their new reality show. but daughters willow and bristol making headlines this morning for a facebook faux pas with a posting left some offended this morning. and we talked yesterday at length about the announcement of the royal engagement so the question now, will there be a royal prenup? you know it would come up. >> why are we talking about this already? >> we're talking about it across the pond but to do that we have to go to los angeles and hollywood and the center of

east of new york city. want to point out a couple of features, area of low pressure will develop right here. and there it is right there and then pushing off to the north and east, racing off to the north and east. it's deepening and the winds picking up around it. throwing back into the washington area. so the bottom line is we're in for a windy afternoon. good news is not a lot of cloud cover. so it should be sunny and bright and mild with highs expects in the low to mid-60s. that's a big improvement from yesterday when we hung out in the low to mid-50s most of the day. here with go, winds getting gusty. 26 miles per hour at naval air station. 36 now in baltimore. 23 out at dulles. 23 in frederick. hagerstown earlier was experiencing wind gusts to 20 miles per hour. and we're expecting winds to gust in the order of 40-45 miles per hour here close to washington. even inside the beltway. and out to the west, maybe as much as 50 miles per hour. look at how much of the region, not just here in the washington area but up into pennsylvania

and new york, under a wind advisory for the daytime hours. this advisory in effect until 4:00 this afternoon. so we have several more hours here before the windstorm will move on out of here and then we'll be in for quieter conditions into the nighttime hours. temperatures not bad. in fact very mild. we're not going to get them. 60 degrees now in washington and generally upper 50s across the region. so temperatures not bad at all. we're expecting daytime highs to be warmer than yesterday, into the low to mid-60s. we'll skip the today page too. let's go the five-day forecast. 63 this afternoon and nice and mild out there. overnight tonight 43. tomorrow we'll cloud up quickly. another cold front that will hold temperatures down into the 50s and there could be a couple of showers tomorrow afternoon. cold tomorrow night. cool on friday and right now weekend plans, go for it. saturday and sunday out door plans, two thumbs up. 60 on saturday and 61 on sunday. >> thank you, tucker. i didn't miss those maps

other person's wealth any way and so that's why there has been huge stories. and keep in mind, queen elizabeth is worth a reported like $450 million, so there is a lot at stake here. well we hear that prince william will still do a prenup because a couple of months ago there was a divorce where the person actually had a prenup and it went through and it was successful and so that may change the game over there in the courts. i don't want to think cynical. i hope this lasts because this is a huge deal but we have to talk about the facts here too. >> the money. >> and the ring, dax. will he get the ring back if it doesn't work out. and by the way, kate was looking good yesterday. >> and i have to say that is good. to get princess diana's ring on your finger, for kate middleton walking around with her ring, that is some history there. >> and the palin sisters up to
