9:15 am
founded by people persecuted and cared about individual freedoms and we know freedom is something that is not free we have to struggle for it, educate ourselves, work for it, we are engaged in educating our community about freedom about our civil rights, and about the fact that there are unfortunately people who will abuse those rights, who are empowered, inconceivable as that appears to someone stopped by a police officer, with all of the trappings of authority and the symbols that they respect and believe in and believe that those symbols are identified with respect and protection for them and it is really a shocking experience
9:16 am

complain about misdeeds by the police this summer prince george county police has announced a heightened enforcement inside low income neighbourhoods, and we stand for the proposition that people have the same rights in low income neighbourhoods that we have everywhere, and that people, because they are poor should not be subjected to less respect, and less observation of their rights, when police officers are doing what they do which we want them to help to do that well because our community members need to be protected. >> i want to mention, five specific neighbourhoods in prince georges county, langley park, river dale, hill crest heights, glass manor all these areas do unfortunately have high crime rate, what do you say to the police and even to some to have citizens there who say we have to do something and

9:19 am
letting people know in their communities that they have been trained to identify the elements of abuse, and gather their stories, and those will be reviewed by our legal office as well as naacp partnering with us on this initiative, and we will file police complaints where that is called for, and we will identify those cases that lend themselves for civil lawsuits. and also, help people connect with attorneys in that regard, the monitors will also be advising people of their rights, and advising them as we do, you know when you are encountering a police officer, be respectful, don't do anything that likes like it is threatening -- looks like it is threatening toward a police officer, co-operate with them, but if you are abused, something has to be done about
