telling us it was aspen hill road right back here they say a 22-year-old woman was driving an suv, when she hit two parked vehicles, back there. an suv and truck and then some how careened up, kept coming up this hill where we are standing, and then, slammed into the back of this house here, you can see where it is all boarded up she went through a chain link fence crews were out here working all morning long. now take a look at the video you can see the suv this morning, literally inside of the house, it came resting inches from the woman lying on the couch, her husband was in the bedroom next door and her son was in a different bedroom, we talked with the woman and her husband this morning, here is what they experienced. >> taking a nap, and i heard this loud crash which i thought was an accident out here on the street. it happens in the intersection

july 4th celebrations in baltimore a 4-year-old boy was shot in the leg as he was leaving the inner harbour with his parents 10:00 p.m. last night it is not clear if the shooter aimed at the boy he is hospitalized in stable condition, meantime, a man was also stabbed outside the mccormick near pier 6 pavilion he later died. >> deadly boating accident on the potomac a man fell out of the boat near memorial bridge just before 11:00 p.m. last night, when rescuers found him he wasn't breathing they were not able to revive him. a big story this morning contentious debate on the debt ceiling picks back up the house has always been scheduled to work this week, senate cancelled its break to be back on the hill. the obama administration says the debt ceiling must be raised by august 2nd or the u.s. will begin to default on debt.

transfusions just a roller coaster ride for my parents. >> the road to recovery for you because at one point the doctors were tell you you weren't going to walk again they didn't know if you were going the survive they pronounced you dead several times when you did come back they said you weren't going to be able to walk and do things you are doing now tell me about the road to recovery. >> i heard a lot of good things and bad things mainly bad but it was about keeping hope my parents were there every day begging me to stay strong and keep fighting that is what i did. i made a miraculous recovery and i learned how to walk again and go to college and swim and do ironman triathalons. >> you were there to prove all the doubters wrong. now you are a triathlete. >> yes, sir. triathlete, ironman, marathon endurance sports, pretty much the whole thing. >> tell me how this impacted your life to the point where you wanted to get involved with red cross. >> when i left the hospital,

2004 i was in my wheelchair in baltimore i remember sitting there thinking to myself if i ever leave the hospital, one day i would like the use my story and experiences to positively impact my community and i thought what better way to begin the whole foundation than with the red cross 36 blood transfusions so forth and it took three years for the full recovery to happen, crossed the finish line hawaii that was my full recovery. >> tell us about the new campaign. >> three years in development, called the iron cross heart campaign. it is a public service announcement, radio tv i am blessed to have my story out there in a ms. tiff storm and help others. the red cross blood supply is usually, in a shortage over the summer months we are hoping this can help awareness. >> if there were something -- we see pictures of you as you

are recovering there, if there was something -- this is also the campaign to say the people to encourage them a lot of people don't donate blood and a lot of people who need it if there was something you could say to people listening who are getting this or watching this on television to encourage that what would this be? >> simply put by giving just a little bit you can give someone like me a lifetime now the blood recipient, blood donor, volunteer it is about giving life. >> you also wrote a book. >> yes, sir. >> tell me about your book >> iron heart, written two years ago and it is another form of the red cross campaign, the blood drives will have the red cross iron heart version given to donors and recipients just a great way to give back and show appreciation, as a blood recipient and raise awareness and say thanks to volunteers, donors, sponsors. >> now as a triathlete i can tell you i am not a triathlete but i see what you go through, it has got to be amazing for you after everything you have

you say live beneath your means doesn't sound hard to do. >> i remember when our president was elected he said we need to teach americans to live within their means we need to live beneath our means we live right up to our means we can't handle anything like goes wrong like a slow economy, rise in gas prices, reduction of income we have to live lower. >> all the things people are going through now. engage in financial planning and investment review. >> the reason i say engage in financial planning,or people on the spectrum, where we worry that there is not going to be enough financial planning gives you opportunity to look at it rationally, project out the numbers and say you know even with high inflation and even with the low return on my investment i am on track that is about all we can do in our life is make some plans we got to leave the results up to whatever happens, so the other side of financial planning, would be to evaluate your

foundation, and that is the part that is generally skipped everybody wants to jump to investments how to make money we have to have a strong foundation we have to have appropriate insurance, have to have appropriate liquid savings it is like building a house the foundation is the most important part even though you can't see it. >> right. >> hold it is structure up. >> last thing i want to get to risk management assessment, this is for the viewer, a little insight here i am looking at one of my savings things it gave you the calculator where you are the result was rainy. what does that mean. so has hard to do that some times but if i hasn't done that i might not know where i need to be. >> because money is taboo to talk about, and fearful for a lot of people, i think there is an inclination to stick your head in the sand and avoid looking at it as we know with all life challenges, it starts with looking at it, so if you do risk management annually, you put it down on paper take a look where you are at kind of like getting on the scale once
