kind of cold out here at freedom plaza but they can stay past christmas into next year it would appear. i will give you a live look what is going on they have banners up, tents, they are just testing loud speakers, and a few bongo drums but protestors are here, several dozen of them they have been here since thursday they thought they were going to be evicted yesterday but it would appear they will be granted a permit to stay for at least four months. i talked to several protestors this morning and here is how they felt about their cause and about the agreement to allow them to stay. i thick the most important -- i think the most important lesson we are not alone. people are realizing things are not really the way they need to be or could be. when they see other people thinking the same way they get motivated to create a change. i heard last night, law enforcement is telling us we can stay for another four months. there is a lot of enthusiasm for the message. well, they want to share this space we are told, they

agreed other events long planned for the freedom plaza space protestors agreed to make way and allow other things to continue to happen here as long as they stay orderly and do not destroy the property they will be left alone we are told. as far as marchs or other spontaneous events with this group or the occupy dc group, remains to be seen but we could be in it for the long haul. thank you. now the protestors that sparked the new anti greed movement will be allowed to stay in a lower manhattan park mayor bloomberg announced occupy wall street will be there indefinitely as long as they obey the law this comes with a cost the police department says they spent $2 million mostly in overtime to patrol the protest area, during recent weeks. new this morning a passenger stabs a metro bus driver in montgomery county it began midnight when someone reported the suspect, a 52-year-

old man was exposing himself on the bus the bus driver told him to stop the driver had a female acquaintance on the bus he asked her to keep an eye on the suspect as the bus approached wheaton metro station suspects began arguing with the man and the bus driver the altercation continued outside the bus the suspect hit the woman the bus driver tried to intervene and was stabbed the suspect took off running police caught up with him and placed him under arrest he is due in court today the driver is 28 years old he was taken to hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. nba lock out, the league cancelled the first two weeks of the regular season, things could be on hold for longer if owners and players can't reach an agreement sarah simmons is live at verizon center with more good morning sarah. >> good morning tony from what we understand both sides are pretty far apart, no talks are scheduled at the time and the big sticking point seems to be

>> there is a theme every year i found the history interesting too can you tell us how this originated. >> well, it started with a group of people in 1987, the 80s were an interesting time and the lgbt community was coming a long way and had set backs, people then thought it would be a good idea to come out and show everybody we are there. the theme this year, coming out for equality. blending social media, with helping folks, who perhaps want to make the decision to come out there is an ap for everything. human rights campaign is one of the greatest organizations when it comes to using social media. our online team does such a great job so, the last couple years we have done facebook ap and there is all sorts of little things you can do, take your equality iq quiz or donate your status to come out and

do reestablish that connection the grid is a series of electrodes that pick up the brain signals that control movement those signals are transmitted to a computer processor that controls the robotic limb or other device. >> they are able to imagine moving their arm and their brain fire, we record electrical activity with this grid and use those same signals to control another device. so when they think i want to reach for something we send those signals through to the robotic arm and it reaches for something. >> first tim learned how to control the computer cursor then the arm. >> it is a real piece of metal that you are moving with your brain to be able to do that and see it and for it to react to what you are thinking about is amazing. despite his enthusiasm tim's role was short lived as of now the fda only allows the computer grid to remain on the brain for 30 days so tim's has
