you. in our big story today, a series of events planned across the nation to mark the 2 month anniversary of occupy wall street movement. >> stacy cohappen is live in mcpherson square in the district. first we head to craig standing by in new york city. good morning craig. >> good morning to you. i tell you the level of tension has been increasing here this morning as the level of activity has increased, here is the park protestors have been out numbered by police since tuesday morning when police held that surprise raid and evicted the protestors, to live pictures, protestors are far out numbering the police now near the new york stock exchange they gathered here in the park this morning and marched near the new york stock exchange they are being kept away by a line of police and police are still streaming in. the level of tension began to increase an hour or so ago when i was following protestors in

to that area. since then we have seen video of several arrests taking place as this happened, people trying to work, they are also upset at the protestors they can't get in to get to their jobs yet the protestors trying to discorrupt, trading, so yeah, this massive crowd going on there, police now getting far more aggressive with the number of protestors as the number continues to grow. situation there, getting more tense as this goes on. as we move into the afternoon, when you see that amount of people, you look at the aerial view, 3:00 p.m. this afternoon protestors, will try and discorrupt transportation. the big question here is whether or not they spread the message or whether the people get the message and turn against what they are trying to do. a lot will play out as this day moves forward what happens

tomorrow does this movement move on or just fall apart now they can't camp out here any more. a lot of questions remain to be seen what is happening outside the new york stock exchange is a tense situation. >> craig boswell reporting new york city. >> occupy dc getting in on a day of protests. >> they along with several other protest groups are planning to march to the key bridge. stacy cohen is live at mcpherson with that. >> for us here in washington events are taking place later in the day in fact if i step outside you can look at the encampment of the occupy dc group here in mcpherson square. we have a sea of tents, a few people milling about, all is quiet, they are getting rest for later in the day we toured through the camps early this morning talking to people they have a media tent where they prefer to give interviews from

a centralized location, they were not even up and moving last check. there is a march later today, beginning 2:30 p.m. to the key bridge occupy dc movement according to their website is part of this march, from the square to the key bridge where they plan to demonstrate about the effects of aging infrastructure in our city. there are other groups that have claimed involvement as well. our dc is one of them their spokesperson called to say they were the first group to plan this march to the key bridge as part of a national day of demonstration. move on.org we are told may also participate all of that to say, our activities here in dc will be focused in the afternoon and specifically around the evening rush think about protestors marching from this area, 17th and k down to the key bridge and potentially disrupting traffic in that area. if you are travelling through this area. keep that in mind potential for

flying out last night. >> another big story we are following a man suspected of shooting at the white house is waiting to go in front of a judge this afternoon. he was arrested at a hotel in pennsylvania after police found receipts from the hotel in his car. he is accused of firing shots from constitution avenue, friday night that hit a window on the third floor of the white house outside the obama family residence. the washington post quoted officials saying he may have had a hatered for washington and the president. >> this is not the first time someone fired bullets and hit the white house, october 1994, a colorado man armed with a semi automatic rifle, sprayed the mansion with at least 27 bullets trying to assassinate president clinton at home at the time two witnesses tackled the suspect. he is in prison serving a 40 year sentence. we are following developing

transportation analyst, good to see you. >> great to see you. >> before we get into this i want to show a graphic we have to show, national average gas prices, and in some places they are beginning to spike however when you look at this november 16th, just a couple days ago average regular unleaded $3.40, a month ago it was higher, 3.46, a year ago it was much lower, we are certainly seeing a spike and seems like they are beginning to trend upward a little bit, what can we expect in the short term should we look for gas prices to go up. >> sure it is interesting because we see crude oil prices spiking now up over $100 a barrel and while we see crude oil go up now because it is winter time demand is less, you see cheaper gas being made, we will not see that translated into gas prices we will have a temporary respite we think thanksgiving next week to see

gas prices down 3¢ and declining steadily into the holiday season into december we need to watch getting into spring months, demand kicks up, people drive more again. once that happens that is when the high oil prices will hit you at the pump. >> we have some relief, for a number of factors one thing that happens every year, is i guess, the formula for gas changed during the winter months and less expensive. >> absolutely there are a lot of additives you have to add coming into the spring, april may, june, that make the gas a lot more expensive, so you don't have to do that in winter it is cheaper and that helps with much lower demand people are not driving to the beach and a lot of people don't like to drive in inclement weather all these factors help decrease the price in the winter we need to watch out april, march may. >> short term okay long term more problems do you thing long term we will get to -- think

long term we will get to $4 a gallon >> that is probable, high this year was $4 expected to be back up we are seeing the broad macro factors in place there. we have europe coming back it is interesting also with a better global economy we are seeing signs maybe we are not in a slow down but maybe a gradual growth period, very small but that actually will increase gas prices, because that will create more demand. >> it is funny i have heard that but in reality, whatever improvement there is is minuscule really, i mean for most people and you know most -- you look at what is going on in europe and here things are not really better i understand they are creeping upward a bit but seems a bit insane, to me, that you know, things are getting a little better gas prices go up. >> right it is speculative, a lot of investors speculate if they anticipate this demand these are leading factors we

across the southeastern portions of the viewing area. off to the north and east, still dealing with upper level low. once we get through this here, weather, actually sunshine in the forecast, mid-to late afternoon as this whole system winds down. sentinel sat rad, over playing rain showers the upper level low, cold core of air upper layers of the atmosphere. it will squeeze out any left over moisture, it is possible start to see it developing we could see a few snow showers as close as the immediate washington area, during the midday hours just be ready for it it won't stick air temperatures mid-40s. make for quite the scenery here at least a few spots later this afternoon a few snow showers in the forecast and the whole thing winds down we will be cold overnight lows fall back into the low 30s here in the city, lots of 20s tomorrow morning off to the north and west tender vegetation, house plants, bring them in, because

you use any passion tea available on the market do it at full strength as they recommend i like to mix in lemonade with that there is a great lemonade available now 50% lemonade i make that 50/50 and what we will then do, is you can take that i think that is good. >> right. >> take it and spoon a little bit into our beverages and then you know, we've got a great passion lemonade, mint beverage, now for the cookies, what i found out was, the easiest thing to do, is to use just a standard, -- you can find this online, a standard short bread mix because it is really a neutral taste and it usually calls for about a quarter cup of sugar, a cup of flour you use some baking powder, about a couple teaspoons of honey, and a quarter teaspoon of salt, and

then three table spoons of butter. you change it up from there adding ingredientings. >> right that is where we -- ingredients. >> right that is where we get crafty, what you want to do is kick it up a notch and go ahead and with like for instance there is a recipe that calls for the rosemary you want to chop that up, and once you've done that, you want to -- i like to get a reduction going of the rosemary, what that does is with your mix, you want to take the rosemary, and add that in, and what that is going to do is that will give it a really nice flavour and you will mix that all together with your mix you are going to put it in the oven and bake it, about 25 minutes on 325,. >> these cookies smell

wonderful. >> they really do. >> i have been noticing how wonderful these smell. >> and i came up with several different kinds, these happen to be honey lavender, short bread cookies, you can use fresh herbs or if you are not growing them on the window sill use dried. >> everybody has dried rosemary in their cupboard. >> right but fresh herbs give a better taste and you can do the reduction with the mint i was able to find the mint available. we have raspberry cookies and our beverage a little bit of ice cream this is a great ice cream locally vailable, honey laugh ender let's put a lavender -- let's put a honey lavender cookie in there. >> this is my kind of holiday. >> nice. >> nice warm cookies.
