temperature won't budge a lot. humidity, way up, 96%. fog is dense in spots, with visibilities less than about a quarter mile. that will break up shortly. could be a shower or two through the course of the day. highs in the upper 50s. rain returns tonight, will be around tomorrow. travel forecast coming up in a few minutes. back to you. to a developing story now out of new york city. police say they have stopped a terror plot. >> investigators say the suspect became radicalized from al-qaida propaganda on the internet, but was not part of any known terror cell. we're joined again by sarah simmons with more. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. 27-year-old jose pimentel is in jail this morning, charged with conspiracy, criminal possession of a weapon. when police arrested him, he was almost finished making a bomb.

according to police, jose pimentel had almost finished making a pipe bomb from supplies he bought at a 99-cent store and home depot over the past month. this is a model of some of the components of this bomb. this is what police say could have happened had it been set off. >> we had to act quickly yesterday, because he was in fact putting this bomb together. he was drilling the holes and it would have been not appropriate for us to let him walk out the door with that bomb. >> reporter: police say pimentel, a dominican republic born u.s. citizen, moved to washington heights from new york, after a divorce two years ago. they say he maintained web site called trueisland1.com, that advocated violence against the u.s. nypd started watching him

two years ago. since then, a confidential informant told investigators pimentel wanted to use a bomb to kill soldiers and marines returning from afghanistan and iraq. they say he also wanted to blow up police stations and banks. >> the suspect was a so-called lone wolf, motivated by his own resentment of the presence of american troops in iraq and afghanistan, as well as inspired by al-qaida propaganda. >> reporter: police say he had been trying to build a bomb since august, buying supplies at different times so as not to arouse suspicious. >> he made even some of his like minded friends nervous by his extremism. he talked about changing his name to osama hussein. >> reporter: now, pimentel was arraign last night and a judge

denied him bail. if he is found guilty on the charges, he could spend the rest of his life in prison. >> thank you. again, he would face a life sentence if found guilty. police urging a suspected murderer to turn himself in, days after he was mistakenly set free on bond. frederick scott and another man were charged with murder of a man outside a bar. he was set free until the error was discovered. >> seems to be a clerical error possibly through the court system. appears to be no fault of the department of corrections. they were just following the paperwork that was sent over from the courts allowing him to post bond. >> police say it's rare that someone charged with first degree murder is ever allowed

bond. the prince george's county state's attorney is investigating. deputies on the look out for a seconds robbery suspect. this is surveillance video of both suspects. police say they robbed three george washington university students and a university of maryland student last week. one has been arrested and charged with armed robbery and assault. in the fight over cutting the deficit, the super committee is likely to admit their failure today. the 12 lawmakers were supposed to come up with over a trillion dollars in budget cuts. but they cannot come to an agreement. we get the latest now from fox 5's stacey cohan live on capitol hill. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. this impasse is a great disappointment. super committee was established in the summer with the hope they could reach an agreement, six democrats, six republicans,

and now it seems we have failure once again in washington. it's unpredictable how it will affect the nation's credit rating or stock market, but certainly will trigger a round of automatic cuts, $1 trillion in such cuts, supposed to take place in 2013. they'll be split between domestic programs and the department of defense. now the finger pointing begins. >> i think it's illustrated by the last offer made by republicans. our democratic friends said no to that offer because it didn't raise taxes. i think it tells you a lot. and that is that in washington, there's a group of folks that will not cut a dollar unless we also raise taxes. >> we could cut $1.2 trillion and we can do it tomorrow morning, we could put it before the nation, and get this job done. the calculation politically has been made by many that they think they're going to win the senate, win the presidency, and they want to wait until next year and write their own deal.

>> reporter: now, the actual deadline is wednesday, but they have to have the deal in place by today, because the congressional did you get office needs two days to -- budget office needs two days to score that proposal. reporting live, i'm stacey cohan. tony, allison, back to you. >> nothing gets done on capitol hill. thank you very much. meanwhile, president obama is back in the white house, after nine days in the asian pacific. he was at the asia pacific economic conference negotiating trade agreements to help bolster the american economy. u.s. lawmakers say export policies cost americans jobs. a few dozen people from the occupy wall street protests in new york are heading from baltimore to laurel, maryland today. protestors began their walk to d.c. back on november 9th. they have been doing about 20 miles a day and have been making stops in new jersey, pennsylvania, delaware and maryland. the group will join up with

occupy d.c. tomorrow and push to end the bush era tax cuts when the congressional super committee hits its deadline to come up with that plan on wednesday. protestors maintain those tax cuts only benefit rich americans. university of california davis placed two of its police officers on administrative leave for pepper spraying some occupy protestors. amateur video seen here caught one officer dousing demonstrators who are passively sitting on campus friday. ten people were arrested. the president of the university of california system says he is appalled by the images and is planning an assessment of law enforcement on all 10 campuses. there are calls for the school's chancellor to resign. the situation in egypt still tense today. protestors are clashing with police for a third straight day. soldiers and police set fire to protest tents and fired tear gas and rubber bullets. 35 people have been killed and more than 1700 injure

saturday. demonstrators want the military to hand over power to a civilian government immediately. the first elections are being held next week. clashes in syria reach new heights. anti-government protestors have launched an attack against the headquarters of the ruling bath party. this, while the country's leaders worked to put down the opposition. marianne rafferty has more. >> reporter: tenses rise between political leaders and anti-government protestors in syria. large crowds have gathered in various parts of the country, staging demonstrations both in support of and against the president and his government. pressure has been mounting on leaders to end the violent 8- month long up rising. >>(translator): we don't to rush. we need a careful study. >> reporter: syrian leaders have proposed a peace plan to end the crisis, but that idea

has been rejected by the arab league. the organization is calling on the government to stop their attack on demonstrators, and begin negotiations with the opposition. in response, syria's foreign minister had this to say. >>(translator): you see how our people went on the streets, and refusing the resolutions of the arab league. if we have to fight, we fight. we're willing to fight. the problem will only be soved by the -- solved by the syrians themselves. >> i think that he went beyond the point of no return. no way he'll resume his legitimacy. >> reporter: the unrest has killed more than 3500 people since march. in new york, marianne rafferty, fox news.

people in reno, nevada, forced out of their homes by a fire over the weekend. we're getting a close look at the damage now. they're being let back in after an unusual out of season wildfire friday. the fire chard 2,000 acres. 10,000 people were forced to evacuate. more than two dozen people out of their homes because of this apartment fire in sterling, virginia. this video shot by a person who lived nearby and posted it on you tube. broke out around 7:30 yesterday morning. no one was seriously hurt. it's been ruled an accident. a big shakeup at city hall

in the district. mayor gray is announcing changes to his staff. he's holding a news conference at the wilson building. three new people will be named. two coming to the executive office of the mayor, and one new staff announcement at the department of health. cowboys first down. >> that set it up. another heartbreaker for the redskins, falling to the cowboys in overtime for their longest losing streak in 13 years. >> wow. >> time now for a little monday morning quarterbacking with dave ross. you know, that's too bad. >> yeah. >> but as i said earlier, i took my son to the game, and it was an exciting game. the redskins didn't quit. >> right. >> after that first quarter,

making headlines this morning, a u.s. congressman is denying allegations by distant relatives that he sexually abused a then 12-year-old second cousin several decades ago. the representative of michigan issued a statement calling the accusations false and shameful.

the washington times first reported the allegations. the congressman says the accusers may have been motivated by blackmail and he says he made a formal report to the fbi when one of the relatives asked him for money. microsoft founder bill gates is taken the stand in a billion dollar lawsuit this morning. he is about to testify in utah in a case where microsoft is accused of duping another software maker before the rollout of windows 95 back in 1995. the company is suing microsoft, claiming that it violated u.s. anti-trust laws because of its relationship with other computer makers. the company says it sold microsoft for a loss of more than a billion dollars. police in florida caught o'neal ron morris after a year on run. the 30-year-old is accused of posing as a doctor and performing plastic surgery by

still, this looks familiar. just a twist. >> right. i try not to go too outside the box. you have a jerk turkey. simple and easy to do. you can mix your own spices or you can buy a marinade. there's a twist on the stuffing. it's traditional cornbread stuffing, but it has pineapples and onions. amazing. >> really nice. >> i love cornbread and i'm known for my brown sugar cornbread. my family loves sweet potatoes. so i did sweet potato cornbread. same way, just add in sweet potatoes. we have the vidalia pineapple stuffing with fresh thyme. we're going to make a dessert. i make a pumpkin mousse which is easy and simple, because it's a simple dessert. it's literally whipped cream and pumpkin puree. if you want to roast your own

we're back with a live look at the big board in new york. the dow is down 188, almost 189 points now. investors are worried that the debt super committee will fail to reach agreement on cutting the budget, and while economists think the economy will grow next year, they think it will be too weak to bring unemployment down. the dow is down about 189. stores are planning to open early this black friday, of course. some are opening thanksgiving day. but at least one worker of a target store isn't taking that. anthony hardwick started an online petition asking target to save thanksgiving. almost 200,000 people have signed on to the petition. he says he's just asking for workers to be able to spend one entire day with family. fairfax county police holding an online chat today at 2:00 p.m.

water area, if there are dead fish along the road, it will encourage them to want to sniff and eat the dead fish. >> he's like, take me home. we also have some dogs here today. why don't you tell us about cocoa here? >> cocoa is a mix between a schnauzer and a poodle. seven to eight years old. came in as a stray. we're hoping to find her a good home. she is sweet and as loveable as can be. she has a tendency to walk around in circles. it's because she's probably been confined to a small area and learned to pace like that. we'd like to have her live out her years in a nice family environment where she can have more space. >> she's sweet now, but before she was running around in circles excited. >> i have dino today. he is nine years old. sweet and loveable. dino was an owner surrender.

they brought him to the shelter, and of course our goal for dino is to get a lifetime home for the rest of his life. he's very well trained. he's in good health, even though he's nine years old. still got a lot of spunk in him. >> free adoptions for animals over seven, right? >> that's right. we have waived the adoption fee and no fee for spaying or neutering. also microchips, all the shots and we'll give you food for the pets seven and older. >> i want to get into this even you have on. can you tell us about that? >> spaying and neutering is the key to a successful animal. you'll have a better trained animal, a healthier animal. and right now we have such a tremendous overpopulation of

kids have been working since the moment we've been here. you have to have a good foundation, and they believe that foundation all starts with ballet. gloria hansen is one of the instructors and joins me. good morning. >> good morning. >> reporter: you believe it starts at the bar. >> these kids are required to take a minimum of two hours a week. some take more. some do outside programs to improve on that. the bar work improves their core, so when they're dancing center, they're strong. improves flexibility, strength, makes them a much more beautiful dancer. as you see, we really pride ourselves on having a strong ballet program. we produce kids who could possibly have a career in dance, and not just competition students. >> reporter: it's interesting to me, because we started with hip-hop this morning, for us to end up here. >> right. >> reporter: how do they make that transformation from the

grace and beauty of ballet and put that into work into something so jarring, sometimes, as hip-hop? >> the funny thing is, they probably like hip-hop better than ballet. ballet can be tedious and repetitious. again, they do love it. they know what they need to do to get there to take that next step. >> reporter: what does it mean to you as an instructor here, to receive the recognition you've received as of late? >> i am so proud of these kids and the studio and our great staff. i couldn't ask for a better group of kids to work with. we just, you know, we work hard at it, but we have fun and that's the important part. >> reporter: it really is. enjoy it. i think you can see that on their faces. >> right. >> reporter: there are a couple of dancers i think might talk to me. dancers, come over now. we'll talk to you. tell me your name. >> kayley. >> reporter: i want you to tell
