an up or down vote in both houses to really, you know, do something about the deficit, and the parties couldn't agree, you know i think the hardest thing about this alison, is that the by in large the republicans find themselves in an ideological straight jacket because they are kowtowing to gilbert norqwest and signing a silly tax pledge and it will get them into trouble democrats put on the table ideas for social security and medicare reform, there was talk about another $400 billion in cuts on that and i think they could have had a grand bargain but it was too hard for republicans. >> in a recent blog you say never before have i seen such a strong sense of party lock in congress. >> right. >> tough times i think now, i don't think anybody has gotten a bert education in congress than the american people in the

last couple years or so. >> what i was saying, in that article that we have almost got a particle meantry system everybody goes -- parliamentary system, everybody goes to their corners, you go to election and resolve it i don't think it will be resolved in the next election it is up to folks to cross the aisle think big and change things and the american people calling for it and president obama i think is absolutely at wits end. he put on the table serious cuts, they had $900 billion in cuts in the last deal he is willing to work with them and finds it just unbelievably difficult to get to congress. >> that was my next question how if you were advicing the president now, he is in an election cycle himself how would you advice him to go forth from now what is the message people need to hear? >> what the american people want now is they want him to be

even tougher for example, yesterday he was up in manchester new hampshire he said to the republicans you signed this no tax pledge we have given the average american $900 this last year with the social security tax rebate and you know, are you going to do away with it, raise taxes on the middle class at the same time you are telling us millionairebillionaires are paying too much? that was one of the problems with this deal that was coming from the republicans this last couple weeks, they want to take the bush tax cuts make them for the wealthiest and lower them more they tyke it from 39 to 35 and want to lower it to 28. obama says there are choices you have to make here either you give the biggest tax break to the wealthiest of americans or say we ought to extend tax

cuts for the middle class they will have problem s with that no tax pledge. american people want to see more out of obama want to see -- and be toucher with congress see more leadership. >> we got to talk about the debate last night the 11th debate the only one in dc, a lot of talking >> it might be tough first of all there is a lot of preparation that goes into these things secondly, i think you've got a situation where, on this one they really start disagreeing with one another, who is more fire in that room, directed around those folks than towards president obama and everything from the patriot act to immigration one thing interesting now, newt gingrich came out, he is conservative, on immigration he is fairly liberal that may cost him in this primary season but you know, we've got the flavour of the month every month some body else is rising to the top, the

paper moon, last picture show. those worked out. let us do it in black and white. but in any event, why not then think further and it isn't as if you are doing something -- you are trying to recreate you are telling a sisterry and recreating -- story and recreating life in a way whatever the aspect is, whether you are takovsky or jim cameron you are telling a story and want them enveloped, immersed in that story not everybody will agree as to how immersed but imagine, if darkovsky used 3d or sukarov in russia. the cave what he did in the caves, so there are ways to use
