before it's said and done. wet weather in the forecast. ast. streets around d.c. headquarters are shut down as police investigate a suspicious vehicle. k-9 dogs are checking the vehicle near d.c. superior court. two blocks from headquarters. in addition to the street headquarters, the front entrance to superior court is closed. the building can be accessed through other entrances though. there are reports people saw three men abandon the vehicle early this morning. head coach bruce boudreaux has been fired. >> a crazy weekend. they lost saturday night.

after the game we started to hear rumblings that bruce's job was in jeopardy. it was confirmed an hour ago. bruce boudreaux is out replaced by dale hunter. bruce had a great run. he was hired four years ago on thanksgiving and here we are just after thanksgiving four years later and he is out. he struggled in the play-offs only going 17 and 20 in the four years. this year he started off red hot. the caps were 7-0. that was a franchise best but they lost six of the last eight. the problem is he lost the locker room meaning he lost alexander simon and alex ovechkin. they stopped responding to bruce and when that happens you have to make a change.

>> very good. another big story, the assistant coach for the men's basketball team in syracuse university has been fired. a third man has come forward claiming that bernie fine molested him as a young boy. one of them released an audiotape of a phone conversation that he made with fine's wife. on it, lori reportedly said she knew everything that went on and that bernie has issues but is in denial. some people are wondering how this will all affect syracuse's head coach. >> the story of jim baheim has said he is my guy. we have done a full thorough report and they are not true. well, syracuse fires him. it will be interesting to see what happens to him as we go home. >> the coach calls the accusations against his long time assistant and friend disturbing and deeply troubling and that he is personally shocked because i never

witnessed the activities that have been alleged. i believe the university took the appropriate steps. fine denies all of the allegations. police believe a serial carjacker is on the loose. >> the third victim in a week. sherri ly has the details. >> reporter: i spoke to police a short time ago. they told me that investigators are still going through surveillance footage from the shopping center. the latest attack happened here at the target yesterday, 77- year-old man was carjacked. you can see there are a number of cameras there. the other attacks happened in the giant parking lot over there. they have a number of cameras as well. police hope the cameras captured the suspect. he goes after the elderly in the middle of the day and uses box cutter or large knife. there was a similar one

saturday in the giant parking lot at wheaton plaza. a 60-year-old man was forced into his car at knifepoint then drove to an atm to withdraw cash. the suspect stole about $380 then drove to a gas station in northwest d.c., let the victim unharmed and walked to a metro station to escape. the first carjacking took place the day before thanksgiving. also at the giant. in that case, the suspect went after a 75-year-old man. police say the suspect armed with a knife made the victim take out money from atms. in that case, the victim was not hurt. the carjacker got dropped off at a metro station in d.c. police say he escaped by bus or metro rail. investigators say that the suspect description in all three cases appears similar and they do believe it is the same man. the big concern right now seems to be thated suspect is growing more violent. in that case yesterday, the

victim was dropped off in hyattsville, left in the passenger seat while the suspect got away. it was somebody passing by who noticed the elderly man injured in the passenger seat who called police. investigators say that man had been cut with that box cutter and beaten in the face and head. that's the latest in wheaton. back to you. police are searching for a suspect after a deadly fight outside of a dupont circle nightclub. it started around 2:30 sunday morning inside heritage india restaurant and club. it spilled out to connecticut avenue where three people were shot, three more stabbed. 34-year-old yonti cool many -- coleman died at the hospital. d.c. police chief cathy lanier ordered the club to be closed until an investigation is finished.

two women are fighting for their lives after being pulled out of a burning house in hyattsville. flames were record about 3:45 yesterday morning. medics resuscitated two women. they are in critical condition. another woman was able to escape. sadly a 6-year-old boy died. the home did not have working smoke alarms. the cause is under investigation. new this morning, occupy los angeles protestors are defying the major's midnight deadline to break down the camp on the city hall lawn. this is a live look from our sister station in los angeles. protestors are throwing what they are calling an he victims block party as a way to keep things nonviolent. some are burning money. a similar situation for the occupy movement in philadelphia. protestors were ordered out of a camp at city hall by 5:00 p.m. yesterday. a number of them are still there. police have not gone in to make

any arrests. demonstrators have to be tout make way for a $50 million construction project. egypt is holding parliamentary election today for the first time since mubarak was ousted in february. this weekend thousands gathered in tahrir square. they continue to call for the military to move up a presidential election. 41 protestors have been killed in more than a week of demonstrations. a university -- georgetown university student is out of an egyptian jail cell back home with his family this morning. >> so glad to see you. >> derek sweeney arrived in st. louis late saturday night after spending almost a week in an egyptian jail accused of throwing fire bombs at police. he describes the frightening experience. >> it was very, very

frightening especially that first evening, probably the most scary thing in my life. and they said they would shoot us if we moved and we spent about six hours that first night in nearly fetal positions. >> sweeney says the accusations against him are false. this is already shaping up to be a banner day on wall street. the markets are expected to soar and the hope is it may help investors recoup losses after what has been a painful month. doug luzader has more from capital hill. >> reporter: two big things are driving the day on wall street today. consumer spending at home and european debt concerns. what makes it unusual, there is good news on both fronts. this may be music to retailers' ears, cyber monday.

for online sellers, their version of black friday, the post combination of door buster bargains that seems to have exceeded expectations this year. >> for the most part people are in a better position than three, four years ago. they are a little comfortable shopping. >> reporter: that translated into big sales through the extended holiday weekend. a record number of shoppers spent an average of $400 apiece. that is up $35 over last year according to the national retail federation. this is what wall street wants to hear and consumer sentiment may be turning around. there is other good news driving overseas markets even higher through the night including word that the imf may rise to the rescue in italy helping to prop upper rope. those same investors are hoping for more positive news from the u.s. this week. >> the economic data, most

making headlines, a healthy baby boy born at bwi marshall airport. police, fire and rescue crews got a call about a woman labor 2:20 yesterday afternoon. she delivered the baby with the hell of an officer shortly after she got off the flight. he was born in a rest room in concourse d if you want to know. mother and baby were taken to a nearby hospital. catholics in the u.s. had their first taste of big changes in the mass. yesterday was the start of the church year and revisions to the english version of what was said at mass is used. it's a more literal translation of the traditional latin mass. >> it's true to the meaning that we are supposed to be saying an -- >> i find it satisfying. not much difference really in my estimation.

letting them borrow their own. and then we see apparel and jewelry are always high on everybody's list. >> i concur that they are hot for kids. my 7-year-old is asking for a tablet. she is not going to get one. holiday gift ideas p reasonable things that we can gift friends and family? >> there are a lot of different places to look. go to you tube and look. you can see the products or the toys, whatever it is that you might be thinking about giving. get some gift ideas on your own. you can go and use google product search which is the shopping tab on google which will allow you to compare products, prices, read reviews or find out if they are available in a store near you. >> folks are shopping but they are doing it in a smart way. they are looking for coupons free shipping. are these deals out there.

>> oh, yeah. free shipping seems to be the price of entry right now. mostly -- most retailers are offering free shipping at this time of the year. then searching for things like cyber monday coupons and deals, et cetera will be the best way to go about looking for that. >> online tools what does google suggest using to help you navigate more efficiently? >> well, if you are looking for things in your area, one of the things we would recommend, make sure that your cell phone allows gps to find you so we can final the best local deals to help you make the best decisions that way. >> so, if folks miss out today, dan they miss out friday going to the stores and miss out for cyber monday, is there another big online shopping time before christmas or the holidays? >> yes, cyber monday is traditionally a kick off of the holiday buying season. a big five-day weekend from thanksgiving to today that

centerpieces, how to cut out -- it doesn't have to be the basic poinsettia. >> absolutely. >> home depot is all about the do it yourselfer. while we have lots of ready made gifts and centerpieces for your home, you can take some simple boughs of holly -- >> how did you come up with that. >> mantle-escape, table-escape. you can stick things in a bucket put a pretty bow on it and people will be delighted because of the quality of the plants. we bring in live goods but things that have been cut. this morning i will do a general little put it together type thing. if you had a mantle, you don't have to have a pot to put things in. take some of these evergreen cut tips -- just lay them around. >> that's what i do on my mantle every year.

>> how long will it last. >> it's probably been cut for a little while. you can imagine the number of home depots they go to. separates it -- sprits it every once in a while. if they are outside in the cool weather, better. but of course these will be for centerpieces. i am really just laying this up here to give you some idea. some of the tips that we get in include a host of things. you can get pine seed dare. any of -- cedar, any of these will work. whatever your nose can take or likement we also -- like. we also bring in this. this is easy enough. this is a general house plant, one of the easiest to grow. if you have any other house plant could you do the same thing. >> that is a gorgeous centerpiece. >> you were saying after the

holidays you can put it in a different blooming plant. >> we carry a host of them. >> the once that i think are pretty are the vary rei gated -- >> the christmas cactus. >> that is one of our hottest selling items. >> it only blooms at christmas. >> like the poinsettia, it goes through the cycle where -- we brought them in before thanksgiving and they should bloom well into december. this is in the cactus family obviously. you can keep this growing all year. you can put it outside in the summer. it won't bloom but you can put it outside in the shade and when -- it goes through the cycle. [ overlapping speakers ] >> you brought in lovely orchids. >> they have become very affordable.

they are an exotic plant. a lot of people won't buy them because they think they don't know how to care for them. they are easy. water about once a week. it depends on your home temperatures. these are actually in an orchid park, not a regular potting soil. this is something that they prefer and require. >> you put ice cubes in there. >> that is the tag on these, add ice. it gives people an idea that it's that simple. a couple of ice cubes a week. this is a wonderful hostess gift, too, the rosemary. >> we brought in a host of sizes this year. this is very pretty and appropriate for gift giving. these are frying grant, edible, the herb but they make great potpourri. i love these. >> as far as gift giving we have them -- all you need is a red bow. >> thank you so much.
