policeman and the suspect. >> we have the latest from the virginia tech campus. good morning, bob. >> reporter: good morning from main street in blacksburg, virginia where we are learning that is a scra tate police heading up this investigation will be holding a briefing at 10:00 this morning hopefully to give us more information about yesterday's shooting, perhaps to identify the gunman who, after shooting a police officer here on campus apartly took his own life. the murdered campus police officer was derek crouse, 39 years old, four years with the police department here, an army veteran, married, father of five children and stepchildren who was, according to virginia state police, ambushed during a routine parking stop around 12:30 yesterday afternoon. the person who shot him dead was not the driver involved in

the traffic stop but someone who walked up and fired at officer crouse who was sitting in his patrol car. police tell us there is dashboard camera video that shows the shooting and the shooter, and that the clothes that the gunman was wearing were found in a back pack on campus late yesterday afternoon. a half hour after officers crouse was shot, police found what they first thought was a second victim with a gunshot wound in another parking lot about a quarter mile away. it turns out that was the apparent gunman and police say that ballistic tests overnight matched the gun found with the alleged shooter to the shooting of the police officer a half hour earlier. what this was all about, we don't know. hopefully when police in about an hour tell us more about this case and perhaps an identity of the shooter, we'll find out whether this was a random act of violence or perhaps the

gunman knew officer crouse. we just don't know. we will be finding that out a hill bit later on this morning and we hope to bring that to you live here on fox 5. but, certainly, we'll have the information to you as we get it. reporting from blacksburg, virginia, i'm bob barner, back to you. >> still a lot of questions. thank you, bob. another pig story we are following this morning, judgment day for leslie johnson. a judge is expected to sentence the former prince george's county councilwoman today. >> she is sentenced for her role in her husband's bribe. >> it is leslie-on's turn find out how much time, if any, she will get behind bars. federal prosecutors are asking for 12 to 18 months in prison but johnson's attorneys reportedly will only ask for

probation. the former county councilwoman pleaded filthy to witness and evidence tampering charges in the eight-year corruption scheme that was orchestrated by her husband and former county executive jack johnson. her infamous role now, stuffing nearly $80,000 in cash into her bra, under garment and flushing a $20,000 check down the toilet while the f p i was at the door. but she had no idea that her phone cast tapped and that her conversation with her was all recorded thrncht what do you want me to do with this family? >> put is in your panties and walk out of the house. >> the agents did find that her money in her undergarment. her husband, jack johnson, was sentenced to more than seven years in prison. he arrived in court with a cane and wearing glasses.

the judge did not show any mercy. he claimed he was suffering from parkinson's like symptoms. he took a million dollars in bribe. that sentencing is scheduled to start at 10:30 this morning. leslie johnson would likely show up here shortly before that. she was not with her husband he was offense sentenced earlier this week. the prosecution and the defense will ask the judge for a sentence but then it will be up to the judge what sentence he will give a missing 12-year-old boy has now been found. an alert had been out for ricco singletop. the good news here is that he has now been found and he is now safe a virginia state treerp is expected to make a full recovery after being shot on

the side of i-95 in carolina county. the trooper stopped to pick up a pedestrian walking down the interstate yesterday afternoon. there was a struggle and both he and the suspect fired shots. the trooper has been identified as m. h. hammer. the pedestrian was also shot. he is in the hospital in critical condition another naive yo convoy set ablaze in pakistan. attackers for end more than 20 tankers carrying fuel to u.s. troops in afghanistan. the trucks had been waiting at the border that pakistan closed two weeks ago. pakistan stopped the crossing because of a nato airstrike that killed 20 pakistani soldiers last month. >> iran showing off the missing spy drone lost over that country last week. the pentagon confirmed it is, in fact, the missing r q-170 rq

question. >> one viewer writes in, i was watching my friend's kid last weekend when the youngest, a three-year-old, called me stupid when i took away the nerf gun that he was refusing to stop shooting. i ignored it but what would have been a better way to handling it? should have told my friend or admonish the child at that moment. >> this is a good one. thank, viewer. we're going to keep this one anonymous because it's touchy. thinks we have all been there scenario. you are in the presence of a child who is behaving in a way that you would not let your child get away with. this one is different. this viewer was babysitting a child, three years old when he would not listen and when he called this viewer stupid. here is my advice to you because this is a terrible word

that no child, no adult should ever use. you should address this with the child. it's as simple as saying, that's pretty nice. that's pretty riew. why would you say that? you can use kid raining wage or tone to do it. that should probably dot trick. i don't think anything more than that i would tell the parent in a way that's not condemning the little guy but explaining the situation. i'm tell you this because you don't want the child to tell the story in a different way in a way that really happened because he is three. because it could be like, and then he yelled at me. tell the parent, too. his feelings my get hurt and he might he will bellish the story a little bit. tell it more harshly. i find that kid usually respond to firm but loving correction and this would work in the future to set a disciplinary bar. tony, this happened to me. i was in a situation where the

person didn't behave. when i thought it was a safety issue, i said, no, no, no, you need to day here but i did it with a serious face because, sometimes, people want to -- these are people, little people. just that they are short, they are smart. i would ask you as a parent, would you take offense -- no, absolutely not. we told my son that stupid is a harsh word to use. i think that's a good way to handling it. i agree with address the kid because that's a very easy thing it do in that moment. it becomes a big deal if you go back later on, but, yes, i would also tell the parent in a way that is not confrontational. just so you know. >> he would not stop shooting the nerf gun when i toll him to. >> hopefully the parent won't say, what are you? stupid. that's my advice.
