7:34 am
both an issue, yes, trying to enforce the rules or just trying to gain revenue? or is it both. >> we thing a little bit of both for one there is just not enough spots, in the city for the number of people that come in we are looking at over a million people come into the city both tourists workers and just not enough space for them to park. and also, the type of money that is being raised looks like the city is just trying to take in extra money for their expenses. >> so, but you also were saying too you think what needs to be done here is just an issue of more public parking more garages, or parking lots how do you do that with the space at a premium as it is in washingtondc what is triple-as thought. >> not necessarily only garages but maybe even more metered spots, it is not a problem with the metered spots the problem is there is not enough metered spotted people are quote unquote over staying their
7:35 am
welcome. >> here is the thing they have now started putting in those boxes where you can use your credit card and you can also use apes, mobile apes to try to pay can't people kind of do that, i guess, stop from staying over their limit if they can pay from a remote location where they are? isn't that kind of the purpose. >> that is helping out a lot i use that ap all the time when i'm in the the city so far so good i haven't gotten any tickets cross my fingers but that is helping out with people not getting as many tickets, so, that is something that is encouraging and people should try to take more advantage of. >> so are you anticipating the numbers we have right now, are that the revenue -- we don't know so far this past fiscal year but from what i was reading from what triple-a was putting together numbers, looks like dc is on track to top what they have gotten before they were 80 million.
7:36 am
>> 80 million last year 50 million may of this year like you said numbers have not been put out for this past fiscal year which ended september but we are looking to top that 80 million park the last fiscal year, the 70 million park was topped. what do you thing will solve the problem or anything here? if people -- do you think people are not going to come into the city? people still come into dc, you know, they have to come in to do things here what is to be done or can be done. >> it is just unfortunate for people that have to come into the city. you know, what we are suggesting, for motorists be on the lookout pay attention to signs if you have to park there is no way out of it, fees in garages are higher than you would want them to be. do the best you cannot to over stay your welcome at that meter. let's talk about the amount
7:37 am
of money the city is taking in. is there any concern by triple- a or any thing you looked at in your report that found that there was an issue as to where this money was going? this is a lot of money we are talking about. >> it is and it is more than cities the same size as the district are taking in. so, it is a concern we think the money is being used maybe not necessarily for public safety issues as we know cities across the nation are in economic tumbles, so, we feel the money is probably being used to help the city, more so than to help the residents. >> how do you think that is hurting people where do you think you said public safety what are things you thing need to be done or upgraded public safety wise for the city with that money. >> streets, more physical patrol maybe not just camera
7:38 am
patrol. crashes watching out for crashes, just general safety. public safety and transportation safety. >> all right obviously this is an issue a lot of people can sympathize with we have all got an ticket on our windshield a time or two. we see them raking in the money hopefully it will go the right way. kristin nevilles with triple-a thanks for coming in steve. 7:38 a.m. we will check out other top stories including more on the death of an american teenager in mexico. beth. >> reporter: everybody needs a little help some times, i am beth parker coming up how one area county is assisting first time home buyers making it possible for them to get in the door

the u.s. doesn't have any eyes and ears in iran on the ground but as we found out recently the u.s. has listening and watching capabilities from the sky and have it from the sea too. we shouldn't forget about that. there is just no real human presence on the ground to speak of, at least public presence intelligence agency speak of on the ground in iran there is interest it won't change, it will -- may grow but not likely to go the other way. >> all right as far as what is happening in the straights of hormuz, any real threat here do you see for the u.s. or just more grand standing? >> there is a threat if iran decides to do what most folks think they won't and that is go the extra step and decide to shop shipments some other way further up the straights, it is 34 miles wide, 15 million- barrels of oil go through a day, there is some possibility that they could engage in some kind of activity, that could

line is releases for big films are so huge the print runs are massive and there is no way to control, the goal is to try to get them in as many theaters as possible on opening day you can see a movie in a good teeter or a terrible theatre we wanted -- theatre or a terrible theatre we wanted a window where everyone saw this on a big screen with a bright sharp image and great sound we thought that would be unique in its own way >> does that kill you as a director knowing there may be a bad theatre showing your beautiful film? how does that feel? i only go to specific theaters to watch the screen, bright, vibrant how does that feel knowing there are bad theaters. >> we don't like it because when we judge all this stuff we turn our bulbs up right and calibrate our machinethat is the way we look at it and kind of kid ourselves thinking that is the way the public sees it. so i think if i were to say anything to movie lovers it

would be insist on more from your local theaters, make sure they turn the bulb up to brightness they turn it down darker to save money don't let them do that you paid good money make them turn up the bulb. and you know, they have to look at us everybody starts complaining, basically movie theaters are the best place to see movies and so i am not ragging on movie theaters i just want to preserve that experience and the best you know everybody is saying movies are taking a hit the best way to preserve it is just do it at its best do it at its best it will take care of itself. now the movie itself looks fantastic. >> it does but i love his passion about that. >> good stuff from kevin. thank you time now coming up 9:00 p.m., christmas is over if you still have chris pass treegarland -- christmas treegarland lying around stay tuned what you can do with it.
