7:19 am
>> yes, that was better news. >> i said mark who is playing today. >> red skins i said really? they are still playing. this thing is we are all hoping maybe one last game against the divisional foe the eagles you sum it up for one last hoorah, ring in 2012 the right way it did not work out that way we have been talking about rex grossman all year. gain yesterday rex was indifferent wasn't good rex or bad rex he got hit here trying to find armstrong, you can say well, that is not his fault but -- because he gets hit on the play, he had three that got hit. >> why do we have to see it again and again. >> 256-yards touchdown and fix, pass rating 54.7 bott testimony line is this red skins are 5 and -- bottom line is this, red skins are 5 and 11 rex
7:20 am
and 8 as starting quarterback. the three games they had with beck were a complete and colossal disaster but weren't much better necessarily, with rex grossman at the help. so, if they go draft a quarterback is he going to start right away? are they going to throw him right into the fire and say this is the guy because rex grossman is not the guy, he is an unrestricted free agent do you want to sign him? the off season begins right now that is the way it is. >> at the end of the first half y'all it was a calamity to say the least we call this a fire drill what we mean is that red skins have no time outs, rex grossman throw it is ball underneath, gaffney he can't get out of bounds the clock is tick tick tick tick. got to rush the kicking team on or keep that team on and bite the ball they didn't do either they were in the middle guys coming on, coming off first half expires you can't even get the chip shop field goal off it
7:21 am
doesn't look good on the coaching staff when you see this type of thing happen. what we found out after the game they had a communication break down and they basically said they couldn't hear and the communication device in the head set so rex couldn't get the play from mike which basically said throw to the end zone don't throw it in the field of play rex has got to know that himself he shouldn't have to be told that by mike shanahan or kyle shanahan for that matter it just leads to a disaster after the game you can tell the frustration of the coach. there are things you do poorly, you try to work on, in the off season and that is one of the areas we are working on obviously the big one is turn overs they lost the turn over battle like philadelphia, you don't make the turn overs, regardless how good you are. we make a turn over quite a bit. i thought we made strides, we will continue to keep on working. >> some of the things we got to go through to get to where we
7:22 am
are trying to go. and you know, who knows, you know, what would have happened if something would have happened differently in the season it didn't we have to take it for what it is and know that we didn't get to build on it. >> i guess that is really the glass half full approach, saying they didn't take a step back it is hard from the outside looking in to think they didn't take a step back that is what they believe or are telling us mike shanahan hit it on the head when he said we have a lot of areas we have to improve in. 5 and 11, steve spurrier famously said, not very good. they are not very good. two teams played last night for nfc east title giants and cowboys, red skins swept the giants here they are, victor cruise, takes offer here to break a score with tie, and alison i want you to see the dance at the end he does a salsa dance do you like it
7:23 am
ready? >> classic. break it up, like it. brad shaw makes the cowboys look foolish on that touchdown run, 21-0 at the half they win easily 17 points now the representatives from nfc east red skins beat that team twice you look at it and go wow they are the fourth season of playoffs hosting a playoff game next week what could have been for the red skins it was not meant to be. sadly it is over. 5-11 not very good. >> thank you dave ross. get out of here. >> time 7:23 a.m. on monday morning coming up next another successful year for the sober ride program. >> paying tribute to the president's past vacationing in hawaii obama's get a glimpse into their family history. >> big spike in gym membership to kick off the new year haven't we heard this story before. before you start that new years resolution there are basic things you should know like stretching before a work out.

8:21 am
predicted democrats will win both, virginia will stay in the democratic column and presidential race and cane will win but i can't say i am real confident about that prediction certainly, both republicans could win both races or there is a possibility a lot of people are speculating it could go for the republican nominee for president but cane who is quite popular, could squeak through and win the senate seat for the democrats and it would be a ticket splitting thing. >> interesting i want to ask you because i thought it was interesting you talked about this occupy movement here. >> right. >> freedom plaza, mcpherson square you believe they won't be staying as long as some others. >> no, i believe they will be staying that is my prediction, i am going out on a limb there. you get two occupations in the district which is unusual they are quite different the one at mcpherson square is more radical, caused more trouble all the arrests have been at
8:22 am
mcpherson square the one at freedom plaza has the permit, just extended their permit the question i asked in the column was will they both be allowed to stay will they both be kicked out or will one be allowed to stay, freedom plaza and mcpherson square kicked out i predicted that they both end up staying, certainly freedom plaza will stay they co-operate with authorities and you know, both the white house and the district government, are sympathetic to their goals. >> they just got a permit last week. >> yeah so the real question is whether mcpherson square people are going the learn to get along with the authorities and not be -- whether they will be allowed to stay whether their civil disobedience will be in an orderly way, you know, for demonstrative pumpses and not actually cause -- purposes and not actually cause trouble or destroy property or hurt anybody if they can learn to do
8:23 am
that i think they will be allowed to stay too. >> even with the congressional committee looking hard. >> yeah, but i think that could help them because, if the white house and the district government are seen as buckling under to pressure, from very conservative house republicans that is going to annoy the democratic base and i think the white house and district government may prefer to keep the democratic base happy and defie the house republicans but if the mcpherson square protestors cause damage, really start you know blocking traffic at rush hour frequently, doing anything else that hurts their image and reputation, with the public even more than it has already suffered then i think they will have to back down and kick them out. >> thanks so much we will see how you do >> i hope i do better >> thank you sir. >> alison. >> it is now 8:23 a.m. on monday morning, well, how is
