7:35 am
>> i don't know if bulldog are necessarily in the same sentence but two things really happened here number one, debates mattered almost two thirds of the voters showed that they watched the debates and they were one thing to help them change their mind number two, negative ads, 90 some percent were all negative ads no one wants to talk about it. peter will admit it. the obama campaign went after romney a little bit surprisingly enough in this campaign but debates were really the thing and newt gingrich's lacklustre performance last week and romney's good performances in last week's debate, turned the tide. absolutely look, you know, i think gingrich going see south carolina, was ram bow, going into -- ram bow, going into into florida he was marry poppins he didn't -- mary
7:36 am
poppins he didn't deliver in those debates. >> 99% of mitt romney's ads were negative the only positive ad he had on television was his son in spanish endorsing his dad that was it when you do that, it has an impact in two ways first of all the good ads yowie voice rate your opponents but raises your own negatives, there is a question among some people you got a victory but where does this put you going forward. i think look, jim and i were talking mitt romney is the likely nominee here but he won and won ugly in florida no question. >> but did he have any other choice? considering how hard gingrich was coming at him. >> no, he had to win south carolina, he had to win that, -- i mean florida after south carolina, but the interesting poll number in the exit polls, 38% of voters want some body else. maybe they want jim.
7:37 am
well, rick santorum is still out there the chances of him coming up are slim because he doesn't have a lot of money he stays in this thing, those two knock it out and you just don't know. >> peter is right, rick santorum is the guy if numbers were flipped and santorum finished second you would have a close contest but the fact of the matter, he didn't have the money, gingrich had the money florida is an expensive state to campaign in they spent 25 or $30 million over a period of two weeks that is an awful lot of money. i think that precluded santorum from getting into the fight there he is down to nevada where he will look at it next. >> the interesting thing february is a slow month there is only one debate scheduled february 22nd not this two debate as week thing we have seen maybe some folks will step into that breech they will say we need to have some debates. >> what do you thing about
7:38 am
moving forward from here gingrich is saying i am staying in this, how long will it take the longer he stays in, and it still looks like romney is the winner, does this hurt the republican party the longer he stays in? >> a lot of people thing that would be the case but with this field of candidates right now i think the longer you get vetted the more contentious it is to a point, is good. the number they are throwing has a billion dollars worth of advertising, i think the eventual nominee coming out will be much stronger than they did going in. it didn't hurt much. >> i have a different take i think jim is right up to a point but if this were to corn tin you for several months gingrich -- continue for several months gingrich has shown he doesn't need a lot of money to stay in the game he could be the pat buchanon in

7:40 am
problem with these kinds of analysis, is even the report acknowledges, is that, for those with college education or post graduate education, actually you do better in the private sector, than you do, in government, a lot of these folks are not in it for the money i mean they are in it because they care and they are committed, so i think beaten up on federal workers is a fun thing to do, right, republicans just love it let's get beat up. >> it is the cool thing to do. >> tax millionaires and billionaires. >> let me use the outside the belt way perspective most people have been tightening their belts a lot of people don't have jobs a lot of people would die to have those jobs i don't think you will get a lot of sympathy for the federal workers inside this room people watching the telecast, would probably lynch me for saying that. >> i can write your home

never in my lifetime did i think i could walk 60 miles in 3 days. 60 miles in 3 days is-- is huge. if my mom can fight and beat breast cancer, i can walk 60 miles. you just put one foot in front of the other, and you know that you're walking for such a great cause that you just keep going. (man) that you have all these people coming together for one common goal. (woman) the goal is to bring an end to breast cancer. (woman) the fund-raising was the easiest part. people were very giving. complete strangers wanting to help. if i can do this, you definitely can do this. (woman) i'll never stop walking, not till we find a cure. (woman) and it has to end, but it starts with us. i knew someday i was gonna do this walk. it is the most rewarding experience i have ever had in my entire life. we can do this. you can do this. we can all do this together.
