9:08 am
the motive in this case was george hughly was angry with yeardly love, over an alleged affair with a north carolina, lacrosse player and that he had sent an e-mail to her the friday before she died, in which he said quote i should have killed you and that is why he went to her apartment that night that is why he stole her computer and threw it in the trash. and that the e-mail was then deleted, from that computer, that is the prosecutions theory, and they believe yeardly love died of blunt force trauma to the head and george hughly slammed her head against the wall that night in her apartment may 2010 however defense says there was no intent to kill and that george hughly just wanted to go to the apartment and talk to yeardly love and he didn't do anything to harm her in fact, the defense attorney, francis lawrence characterized hughly as being distraught in a video that was made of an interview that hughly dave to police the morning after he didn't know --
9:09 am
hughly gave to police the morning after he didn't know she died he said i didn't do anything to harm her there is no way she is dead defense believes this will come down to a battle of medical science where they are going to put experts on to say how yeardly love died again prosecution believes blunt force trauma to the head defense says she died another way that she was highly intoxicated she had taken atterol and that she died from quote unquote, positional shifting in bed and was alive for 2 hours after george hughly left the apartment. alison. paul thank you very much. i know that paul is again covering this today and you can follow up on paul's blogs or his tweets and also all the latest on myfoxdc.com. all right it is now 9:09 a.m. as we told you a little while ago we have a special guest in our studio this morning. >> none other than lark mccarthy back in studios right here at fox 5. >> she is now the host of
