michigan. arizona was relatively easy to call. michigan though was a tough fight, with romney up by just about 3%, 41 in santorums 38, that means santorum missed his chance for a major upset that would have stunned romney. >> you know we came into the backyard of one of my opponents in a race everyone said just ignore you have really no chance here and the people of michigan, looked into the hearts of the candidates and all i have to say is i love you back. thank you. because the michigan contest is divided up by congressional districts it is still possible santorum could walk away with more delegates despite losing the popular vote. while paul and gingrich were not players last night they are looking ahead to super tuesday. romney can savour the win. >> story line is romney slow,

said some unidentifiable flagments of remains from 9/11 victims the attack on the pentagon were cremated and then given to a contractor mixed with medical waste, biomedical waste and then disposed of in a virginia landfill, the pentagon has been investigating the problems that came to light in 2009, dover airforce bases mortuary after it learned park remains of iraq and afghan -- par shall remains of iraq and afghanistan war dead were mishandled. tuesday they learned some 9/11 remains were part of the disposal problems at dover. >> to me it is unacceptable these remains would end up in a landfill we have to understand more about how it happened what did the airforce do in the investigation, to understand what happened with these remains what are they doing as a follow up what are they doing to make sure families

understand what has happened where these remains were placed. >> reporter: a new policy that was in place since 2008 now has unidentifiable remains at dover incinerated and disposed of. congressman whitman is calling for an investigation as to why families weren't notified and why this happened. the revelations about the 9/11 victims actually was just two lines contained in the back of this very large after action report about what procedures can be put in place to make things better at dover and so that is how all this kind of snowballed from there the president said after looking at all that report he does support the changes going to be put in place at dover airforce base. >> only two lines on the report but very disturbing lines all right thank you. tony new this morning another robbery northwest dc

this happened 1:00 a.m. this morning connecticut avenue dupont circle police say two suspects wearing black ski masks were armed with a bb gun officers arrested both suspects no word yet if the two are connected to any of the other robberies that have taken place in the area over the last few weeks. the prince georges county fire chief will announce the cause of the raging house fire in river dale height. seven firefighters were hurt. we hope to get an update on the two that are still in hospital. two bills stirring up controversy in virginia, regarding abortion and guns. they passed legislation, requiring women who under go abortions to have external ultrasound exams. they say it could ultimately

discourage women from getting an abortion. also in virginia a law limiting the number of guns you can buy has been repealed governor mcdonald signed a bill yesterday for nearly 20 years limited individual handgun purchases to one every 30 days. the bill signing comes even after governor mcdonald met with families of victims of the 2007 virginia tech shootings they hoped to convince the governor to veto that repeal. >> later today, the dc police chief is testifying on a host of issues at a public safety committee hearing one thing she is likely to be asked about is the district not prosecuting drunk drivers. the prosecutors office is not taking dwi cases to court officers have not been able to use breathalyzer tests for more than a year and have to rely on field sobriety and urine testing, the chief says the

even in 1950, the area known as near southeast was 82% white. >> if you can visualize martin luther king avenue where morris road intersects with it that was eventually, the -- essentially the boundary between the white and black areas of anacostia. >> it is on this side of what is now mlk junior avenue white owned companies and businesses once thrived serving both white and black communities one lasting example the big chair put up in the 1950s by the curtis furniture company >> by 1970 that figure of 82% white would drop to 14%, one reason for the dramatic change was the rezoning of the area, what was once single family and low density middle class dwellings was now higher density apartments, another reason was the 1950s renewal of southwest dc. blacks needed a place to live
