in the deaths of at least two of three family members from calvert county. the symptoms seemed like a cold at first and then suddenly turned deadly, melanie alnwick is live at washington hospital center where a fourth family member is being treated now. >> reporter: good morning allison maryland health officials say they do hope to have an update later this morning on exactly which strain of influenza we are talking about, they have not specified so far, again, surviving family member of the blake family is recovering here at washington hospital center she and her brother were both taken here after they fell sick with the same sickness that killed theirle 1-year-old mother -- 81- year-old mother, investigators in bio hazard suits combed through the blake house in maryland, looking for samples, 81-year-old ruth blake became ill on february 23rd, two

daughters had been caring for her in the home and became severely ill a 56-year-old daughter died at calvert memorial hospital and 58-year- old brother died at washington medical center march 5th tests indicate at this point two fatal cases had influenza and a second bacterial infection. they came in, they were short of breath, they were coughing, they were actually coughing up blood, and they went on to have sepsis which means the infection went through their body. >> and again those tests are continuing to confirm they do only have the test -- preliminary tests on the two cases and they took samples from the home as well as all four victims in this case but at this point maryland department of health says they do not have any reports of similar clusters of respiratory illnesses in calvert county or throughout the state. tony, allison. >> thank you.

victory. >> when you look at the overall picture rick santorum can say he fought mitt romney to a stand still in ohio although a week ago tony santorum was leading in most polls and romney turned it around over the weekend, with some good elbow grease in addition, mr. santorum won as you pointed out in the tennessee and oklahoma primaries and in the north dakota caucuses, now, the common denominator in three of four states was that he mobilized social conservatives, and that seems to be where his strength is. in north dakota in fairness he did have some party regulators including a former state party chairman running his campaign i talked to scott, popular talk show host who said he lit up the state when he campaigned there talking about energy and opportunity again as to whether that appeal can go nationwide and win across the board, i am

not really sure. >> let's talk about one local state involved yesterday, virginia, romney easily wins that meeting, paul, santorum, gingrich not on the ballot there, is there some way to gauge what gop voters are feeling since they only had two choices. >> remember virginia does not have a long history of primaries for many years they have chosen delegates by state convention more often than not a primary is a relatively new operation, for the voters here, similarly in the district of columbia, not all candidates made the ballot, and again, i think that this is something where were i a national campaign manager or candidate i would like if i can't file to make the rules. >> is newt gingrich still a

assessments to determine if we were going to respond, when i got there, having been in tuscaloosa, greens burg kansas, iowa, i realized this was a storm that had quite a large magnitude to it we made the determination we did need to respond and we put in motion our full response units with chain saws, generators, heavy equipment like track hoes and skid loaders and got volunteers on route to come assist these people. >> samaritan's purse is in four states, indiana, illinois, kentucky, north carolina could you put this rash of tornadoes into perspective as far as other areas that you've seen other disaster areas. each disaster is different the population segments of our country are so different it is hard to compare, damage wise,

it is bad, we know that it was an ef 4 it went right through the heart of a great community in henryville and surrounding areas, illinois, just very same way, it went through harrisburg, and then over in the mountains in kentucky, the people are just devastated, here in henryville we are seeing there is a higher than normal percentage of people that may not be adequately insured, with homeowners insurance, so we just want to come alongside these people, lift them up and at least help them start the recovery process. >> that was my next question, with all that did he have station where do -- devastation where do you even start? >> we take our group, samaritan's purse our name is derived from the story of the
