of bullies and even helping the bully him or herself and that is essential to deal with the target of the bullying and the bully as well. >> you do talk at length about that, in addition, talking about or talking to parents who have a child who may be doing that bullying because you know you got to correct it there too. >> exactly and so if you get a call from the school, or you are asked to come in and find out your child has been behaving inappropriately, the key thing there again is to get this child talking, and you might take the approach with your child by saying, you know how much i love you and never you know how much i love you but because then the kid goes okay so there are times you don't love me. you know how much i love you when i heard about this it didn't sound like you i have a feeling maybe you are going through difficult moments things are bothering you maybe you are taking things out on other people can you tell me
9:17 am
about this what do you thing is this what is going on in your heart and mind? and then once you get your child talking to let them know, the parent of the bully, let them know you are going to stand by them get them help you understand what they are going through maybe you have had some of those same frustrations in your life and maybe have taken those kind of behaviours out -- those feelings out on someone else. >> i hear what you are saying but don't you have to be stern and firm with the bully? do you reprimand them. >> i am glad you mention that point three goes to that issue the third thing you need to do both for the target as well as the bully is give them hope that things are going to change that this is going to be fixed and when you are dealing with the bully him or herself you need to say to the child we are going to fix this, i am going to stand by you and we are going to work on this but you must make a commitment to me and this is what the child has to commit to they must commit
