i will start with you though. >> no, i don't think -- >> you can cry if you want to. >> we're talking november that is what i am thinking no, i don't think there are any surprises here he was expected to win i think we said last week he is going to win this week louisiana saturday, the bad news for rick santorum and the others are there are not a lot of races between now and then, romney is starting to build up a pretty goodell gait lead it will be a long slow -- good, delegate lead it will be a long slow season because of the way the party formed this season but certainly it is a two person race newt gingrich campaigning among the seals and the zoo, isn't relevant now some body -- the press are referring to him as a characters in the sixth sense. it really is -- he needs to get
7:35 am
out right now, and frankly i think you know, santorum will stick around for awhile >> i agree with jim, he has spent santorum 21-1 in chicago, 7-1 on the whole in illinois this is the past he overwhelm it is opposition with money and organization if you look as jim said you got louisiana, you got maryland, april 24th a bunch of states which i think he is likely to win and between paul and gingrich, they take about 17 to 22% of the vote in these primaries, a lot of which would go to santorum or anybody but mitt but it isn't people like him but this is a high water mark for him you got 45, 46%. >> true and the more important thing is he goes to puerto rico and gets all the delegates he is half way there though,.
7:36 am
>> my question is though does it feel though mitt romney is the guy. >> yes. i think that he is building up that sort of inevidentability because of the math and the only thing that could throw him off if he starts losing a lot of these primaries a lot of people say you got to beat him in illinois you need that to raise money to go to april and may. >> i think the usual thing for romney, was that he won the chicago suburbs those are the swing voters those are those potential voters that could vote for barack obama that didn't they voted for romney and you know as you go into the fall because you start to have to look at the calculus of the fall it is the suburban voters across the country that are probably going to be the key between winning and losing this thing in a swing state like illinois. >> well, two swing states. >> but if that trend holds in other areas, it will be a big deal. >> what does he have to do to really get this momentum going
7:37 am
toward november he has to show he can win with people who make under $100,000 a year he has not he has got to show he can win middle class voters and he has not done that yet. >> that is not necessarily true in new hampshire he won among independents. >> everyone is independent in new hampshire. >> that is true too. in places independents were allowed to go he did well it remains to be seen yet but now you are starting to see a solid foundation for romney you didn't have before it will grow and we will see how -- >> and he goes to obama. >> seems out there on the campaign trail mitt romney is going after the president, the president's record meantime santorum still sort of nipping at mitt i don't mean knee, is this -- mitt romney is this the way jim you would have santorum if he was your guy. >> santorum's problem is he needs to stay more on message, when santorum talks about obama
7:38 am
care and the health care bill and things like that, where romney is vulnerable, he makes gains what he gets off -- when he gets off message chases things down. >> contraception. >> when they are verbal oops the press picks up on it gets him off message. let's refocus everything on the president. the president has a lot of high negatives he hasn't been able to overcome the get over the 50% favourable rating he is bouncing between 45 and 50. that is a problem for the president he has had the luxury for the last couple months republicans have had the circular firing squad now the nominee starts to emerge it becomes a two person race between the president and mitt romney. >> you talked about the convention rick santorum said florida and arizona will be forced to allocate those delicates when it comes to time instead of winner takes all
7:39 am
what are the grounds for that how exciting if you are some body who is at the convention? >> well, they moved up their primaries against the rules they got penalized they got cut in half in terms of delegates to be honest i don't think that will make any difference towards the end if you had a situation where santorum became the sole opponent for romney he was beginning to win states things were coming together romney couldn't get the 144, then -- 1144 then those things play but in this case i don't believe it will. >> that's right i think the party sets the rules and some of these states decided we are not going to play by the rules. >> really quickly, representative ryan came out with his proposal to make things fair and balanced peter, your reaction to this, what is the reality here, how far will this budget plan go. >> i will tell you, deja vu all over again. >> be careful.
7:40 am
>> secondly jim knows this the plan is not going. it is really a blow to the middle class, it is really a blow to seniors because basically it lets medicare die on the vine but more important, he does it again, he says okay, you know, we want to get a handle on this budget deficit but we are going to give you in addition to the $5.4 trillion in the next ten years extending the bush tax cuts we will give you wealthy folks another tax cut, so you are talking about $10 trillion a big hit to the deficit and also that means the wealthy may get another $110,000 tax break he will cut education by 45% and cut medicaid by a trillion dollars, so there may be elements in the plan folks can work with but basically he is just putting on the table what he had before and it is not going any where. >> jim last words we got to go.
7:41 am
>> congressman ryan is the adult he proposes budgets, democrats and senate don't pass any budgets it is a good starting point and about time we had a serious discussion peter will agree we have to have a serious discussion on policy. >> i wish you would put forth a serious plan. >> that is a serious plan if you call him up he would tell you. >> i agree with that he would says the pretty serious thank you so much see you not next week but the week after. >> tony over to you. >> take peters call that is the question. >> thank you very much. >> 7:41 a.m. on wednesday morning, we are checking more headlines next including a big honor for the clintons what little rock is doing to thank its most famous citizens i guess that is a clue. >> also here is look at today's my fox half off deal it comes from dr. max chiropractic wellness and weight loss center for $29, get 3, 30 minute
