7:36 am
pretty surprising. >> well, plus you are a veteran. >> but this shows this new gin ration of members has -- generation of members has political clout they have a base of supporters that will support them and i hate to see it happen to don too he served with me and is a friend but the fact is, that they ran a very very good campaign, his opponents and it was a tough district and he prevailed. >> didn't prevail i should is a. >> you can get a greater crowd at a rally for the green bay packers in chicago than you would get for romney, a lot of people romney brought out to the polls was between 15 and 20% that was horrible primary voting in illinois. >> so let me ask you though, he has won three back to back pretty good primaries and contests here why are we not saying you know mitt romney is the guy. >> well, in large part because
7:37 am
if you take a look down the road he still is not accumulated a number of delegates he needs, we are half way through the delegate season as of louisiana this weekend, and romney probably will not get to the half way point in terms of number of delegates he needs there are a couple very big prizes right at the end texas and california, if he would win one of those two states at the end of the primary season he would probably get to where he needs to be but at the present time it does not appear, those are two states that will necessarily be friendly for him he has to maintain this momentum if he does he will get the votes he needs if he doesn't this could very well go to the convention. >> now he has jeb bushes endorsement which is the most coveted endorsement every candidate wanted it takes jeb out of the possibility of being a last minute candidate at the convention, what happens now. >> well, that is a big endorsement no doubt, jeb brings a lot of strength with
7:38 am
him, but the reality is, that endorsements haven't played much of a role in this campaign you know, lots of people out there with lots of endorsements but what has played the biggest role is people's desire to have a candidate they thing can beat president obama that is the fundamentally bottom line issue for virtually every candidate in this campaign. >> yeah, but governor bush was viewed as the alternative, should romney stumble, now the fact that he is actually endorsing -- well, moderate so it will be romney, santorum or gingrich. >> do you still think gingrich has a chance to be the republican nominee. >> well, those are the three most viable candidates my personal view i think romney will be the candidate. >> gingrich national chairman i have to say that he is viable. no, i mean there is a path forward for us obviously we
7:39 am
have to get a couple wins along the way there have to be somethings happen for him to continue on, but you know i do think that we are not going to see a brokered convention where someone will be brought in last minute like jeb bush maybe what will happen, is the three candidates at the present time have some chance of accumulating the votes, necessary, to get the nomination. >> do you agree with that marty? >> well, i think if governor romney does not win on the first ballot he has a problem. >> you know it is funny you are in an interview and you say something i bet right after that you want to take it back we are talking about the etch a sketch comment not only are santorum and other republicans jumping on this what romney's aid said but the obama administration basically, it sounds to me like he said in the general election you can push a restart button like an etch a sketch and create
7:40 am
yourself into this different sort of candidate how damaging is that bob? >> well, i don't thing it is going to be terribly -- thing it is going to be terribly damaging except it fit it is perception created about mitt romney as a candidate every time he goes into a campaign he does a reset well, the things i said before don't really apply here, now i am running for this office and this is what i need to say. and so, it fits a perception and that is the thing it hurts most i don't think it is necessarily the comment, it is just perception the comment seems to feed >> but something i think the obama administration, obama campaign will use effectively how could you trust what he says if he is prepared to change no matter who he is in front of i think that is the biggest problem romney faces in the general election, trying to appeal to independent voters who come your way which romney do you believe, do you believe
7:41 am
the one who said x, y, z on women's health someone who believes in trade agreements at least you have to give credit to santorum and gingrich you know exactly where they stand they don't deviate it will give the obama campaign -- how is he going to deal with world leaders and the world stage if he is constantly shifting his thoughts on an issue. >> sorry to viewers we did not get to the paul ryan health budget but we have plenty of time >> it will be around for awhile. >> it is the gift that keeps giving. >> for us too. >> it shows how solid we are. >> there you go that is the final word representative robert walker from pennsylvania, and of course marty russo from illinois democrats thank you so much. >> tony over to you. >> 7:41 a.m. on this thursday morning, sprinkles cupcakes celebrating its first year in georgetown

defense, because, the sanford police department says that is george zimmerman crying for help and not martin. >> what is your reaction. >> well, it is hard to hear the tape but here is a couple factors to make that seem like the wrong choice one zimmerman was the want to be police officer who was the pursuer who had the gun. and it doesn't seem very likely he would pursue the young man confront him and then start screaming for help it could be true but the other thing is again, this is what a trial would sort out the idea the police chief would make that decision is not the normal way it should be it doesn't make any practical sense, you know i think, so whether you can hear that or not whether people can have an expert witness talk about whose voice it was these are what the trials are for. >> in the meantime it is being tried in the public opinion how does that lead into what

happens next or does it? what do you expect to happen next. >> they have a grand jury convened a perfectly normal reasonable way to try to investigate what happened, and we know that mr. zimmerman made statements to the police i don't know the answer to whether he will be a witness before the grand jury certainly as a fifth amendment privilege but one of the striking things about this they don't need any more to institute charges it could be done weeks ago why the delays i am not clear. >> thanks for coming in today. >> thank you for having me. >> tony over to you. it is 8:37 a.m., on this thursday morning, a new discovery for researchers studying male baldness plus living together before marriage, does it lead to divorce we will share new statistics coming up fox 5 as we head to break here is our job of the day parker and lynch
