a pilot on a jet blue flight has a melt down forcing an emergency landing the faa

says the pilot was actinger ratically after crew members had to get help from passengers as the pilot tried to open an emergency door the copilot locked him out of the cockpit when the flight from new york to las vegas landed in amarillo texas passengers said the flight was complete chaos. running down the aisle screaming, afghanistan, there is a bomb, you know i got to get in the cockpit. >> he was trying to find to open the door. >> i feel lucky i will probably go hit the trail. >> the captain was forcefully removed from the plane and loaded into an ambulance taken to a medical facility in texas and being questioned by the fbi only say it was caused by a medical issue. okay. >> scary. >> so frightening to imagine being on that night.

otherwise looking at -- talking on their cell phones talking to passengers, normal distraction in the past are only compounded by now the fact that we have all the technology we are using. >> mm-hmm now, give me an idea, i mean you have really seen over the years, it used to be just the radio or maybe you are eating in your car or whatever, how much have you seen it increase. >> much so, as i said it is now the leading cause used to be speeding now distracted driving that is the top cause what happens is when you are talking on your cell phone even if you are using the bluetooth you are very much distracted your field of blue has changed you add into it you may have a child in the backseat or looking to drink a beverage at the same time even worse is when they are trying to drink a beverage and holding a cell phone at the same time people are multitasks and that is causing more and more crashes every day. >> i know it is difficult to talk about you have a personal story about this as well how it effected your own life too. >> right we found out when teens have extra pass

generallers in the car -- passengers in the car driving at night these distractions are too much for an inexperienced driver i lost my son to a distracted driving teen crash we need to do more to prevent those from happening in the future. >> we want to demonstrate how long it takes to actually stop we have an officer helping us out here he is going to show us how long it takes to stop in a reel life situation >> also lewis is driving this vehicle simply 35 miles an hour the average speed on the roadways he will take about a second and a half to react and then under ideal braking conditions stop 140 feet from when he saw the first perceived problem we have footsteps in the road that would illustrate someone crossing in the street what you can see is when he is paying attention, in that time distance, he could stop in about a half football field that is from when he saw the problem, and what happens is when people are distracted by a second or two, they are

travelling, an extra 100 feet before they even react, and then it takes another 85 feet, or a little more than a football field. >> this is districted. >> now he is not even paying attention he looks up and he is not only did he pass where he was he wasn't even on the brakes by the time he crossed where the pedestrian was a ordinarily he was able to see the problem and put on the brakes in time to stop before, but that one second one and a half seconds he was already hitting the pedestrian or hitting the vehicle in front of him before he even put his foot on the brakes. >> that was noticing i want to clarify where do we say he is noticed the problem. >> in the first situation at that first cone. and was able to brake starting at the second cone. >> that much reaction. >> that much difference just to react to the problem and then the second demonstration, it took a second and a half so he
