planning our spring or summer get aways as you research and book hotels and flights for you and your family don't forget to do some homework for your pets accommodations as well there are a number of options out there now days it can get overwhelming, joining us now with more information is the president of check book.org and thank you for being here with us today. this is something near and dear to all pet lovers hearts you want to make sure little fido is well taken care of while you go away. >> people love their pets and worry about it yes, you want a really good kennel if you are leaving your pet in a kennel, you don't necessarily have to do that there are other alternatives too but if you are doing that you want a good one and check book found differences some are rated superior by 90% of their customers, for returning the dog in good condition et cetera and some down in the 30% range
8:53 am
and of course that survey, the owners can't survey the pets but that 30% range kennels wouldn't do well if we could survey the pets either. >> when i look at information you released the cost that was a big difference how much you pay for a week of accommodations. >> dramatic, we found kennels range for one week for a medium sized dog, some as low as $120 others more than $400 for that one week and the good news on that front, as it is so often with the things we look at, check book.org, that some of the best kennels had very low prices, really moderate prices so you don't have to pay more but you do have to be very careful when you check those kennels out. >> so we have talked about comparing prices and also talk about checking it out what if i go to the kennel and want to see where my dog is going to stay what if they say no. >> don't go there.
8:54 am
i just wouldn't go there if the kennel won't let me walk through just normal business hours walk through, look at how clean it is, look at where my dog would be, is the run large enough, will it be sheltered from hot sun in summer or whatever, so i would check that out and certainly check out the staff these people can you talk with them, and will you be able to reach them, you know when you are away or whatever if you have a question and some other things too. do they require that you have vaccination -- that your pet be vaccinated, and when the pet comes in do they check it for fleas and parasites and things like that and disease all those things from a health stand point are important. >> real quickly we want to tell people weigh your options check out in home pet care, and things like that as well all details are on your website. >> yes that's correct.
