philadelphia, good morning. >> hello there allison how are you. >> doing well thank you. anxious to hear the results of this new study and what it is doing with hpv. >> well, if there was ever another reason to get vaccinated here is another one this study shows that overtime, with the introduction of the hpv vaccine there has been a reduction n the amount of cervical cancer seen and so, as far as i'm concerned for a number of reasons, getting the hpv vaccination is really, the way to go, and, i am also a believer in boys getting the vaccine as well as girls in my opinion. >> now dr. mike this comes with controversy we got to talk about that too. what is the biggest way i guess in your mind that you can sort of have no fear for parents looking at whether they should give their especially younger daughters and sons as you say, this vaccine. >> all you have to do allison,

is look at someone who is dying of cervical cancer and you will get your child imeuphemized there are a couple -- immunized there are a couple issues one for women you need to do it and for boys as well, because there is actually, an epidemic brewing for throat cancer, this is hpv caused throat cancer and it is a direct result of the human papillomavirus we are seeing it not just in women with cervical cancer but men with throat cancer in the tonsils and base of the tongue. that is number one number two, there was just a study, looking at african american women compared to white women and basically, for reasons that no one can explain, the hpv virus, sticks around longer, in african american women, increasing their risk of cervical cancer and that is what we see, statistically, so how do you deal with all this,

one, you get the vaccine when you are young and two, you get regular pap smears. >> okay let's talk about something else that might also have a cringe factor, talking about placenta and how some people swear by eating placenta pills, what is this about? >> well, allison, i am not shocked by much any more but i got to tell you this kind of freaked me out a little bit basically, there are people who believe that after birth, you should consume the placenta, now you can many times have someone make them into pills, the placenta, you know you can put it in a blender, fricasse it the theory is that has chalked full of hormones and nutrients and for mom after she has a child this may stabilize her mood and give her more energy, now i have an

expression with the medical students that i teach and that is in god we trust and everyone else somehow me the data and -- show me the data other than in nature seeing some animals that do eat their placenta, i can't find any data, to substantiate this activity. >> all right we show january jones there from mad men she announced she ate her placenta after child birth perhaps that is what the rage is all about. >> allergy, people who suffer from allergies don't need us to tell them it is bad this year it will be worse. >> it will be a perfect storm, for allergy sufferers because of the very very warm winter that we had, and tree pollen as we just heard, is at record levels, and so, what is happening is you are seeing record after record broken, of the amount of pollen out there, and at this time is tree pollen, and for people who

suffer from allergies, it is significant and it is a real problem, 50 million people suffer from allergies allison. >> my goodness, what do you like over-the-counter dr. mike before we let you go >> all right here is what you do, if you suffer from allergies make sure you have a good air conditioner and clean filter, stay away from the allergens that is numb per one number two, you want to clean out your nose get all -- in medicine we call it is not what you want to do is get -- snot what you want to do is get rid of all that stuff in l something that flushes out the allergens thirdly you might want to try nasal steroids to reduce symptoms and finally, you might want to try an anti histamine take one that will not make you drowsy a lot of this is all over the counter now but you might want to try just flushing out your nose it works great and will prevent you from getting a sinus infection. >> pretty gross but good advice all i am going to say good to
