space shuttle discovery is ready to fly once again kind of not to space but our area. nasa workers spent the weekend getting discovery ready for quite the flight. >> in fact this time tomorrow discovery will be close to dc and you will have a chance to see it fly over sherry lee is live at the tidal basin with more i can only imagine how many people will be out there tomorrow. >> it is going to be a big day all around washington whether you are in maryland, virginia, or here in dc there will be places in all those different locations for you to see the space shuttle discovery as it comes into the washington area i tell you i was just a week ago to see the space shuttle enterprise, discovery will replace that original test shuttle and right now discovery is down at kennedy space center, and the count down is on. visitors flocked to the kennedy space center sunday to say their final farewell to shuttle

discovery. >> the last goodbye will be watching it go up the beach when they do the beach fly by we are looking forward to that it might get teary you know, it is history. >> history headed to its final home, the retired shuttle discovery rolled out of the vehicle assembly building and was placed atop this modified 747 jumbo jet for its final flight to the smithsonian center near dulles airport. >> bittersweet i know a lot of people in the space program we are all going to miss the era. >> armed with cameras and cell phones to capture the piece of history those taking discovery tour took it in for the last time. >> i have been photographing the shuttle since 1987 or so, over 20 years and i've gotten some really good pictures of it. the staff say for them it is not goodbye more see you next time and they look forward to what is next at kennedy space center. >> won't get to see discovery but see atlantis here and right

on site so that is always going to be a part of it and we will get up to washington dc to go to the smithsonian. >> as for viewing the final fly by the space center says there is a couple different ways to see it. >> working with nasa we were able to provide this opportune phi for guests to see the shuttle itself. there will be viewing of the fly outs from the visitor complex in the rocket garden. >> now the fly over here in the washington region is expected to take place between 10 and 11 tomorrow morning, the exact path will depend on the weather, it will land at dulles international airport and as part of the fly over you can expect to see it near several landmarks along the national mall, down at national harbour in maryland and of course, near dulles international airport where it will land, you can basically look at the flight path that goes into regan national airport to get an idea of good locations along the

potomac river there, down around the belt way, around national harbour all places you should be able to see this space shuttle, tomorrow, that is the space shuttle discovery now what happens to the enterprise? well, that will go up to new york to another museum, and just to let you in on something i have seen all this before guys when enterprise was first making its way across the country i saw it piggy backed on a 747 at an airforce base when i was just a little girl i won't say how old but it is exciting to see up close i am sure there will be a tonne of people out here to see space shuttle discovery as it makes its way to its final home here in the washington region. >> love it. >> for people who never got that opportunity to travel to florida to watch a launch at least it is not quite a launch but still exciting. >> i saw enterprise as well i wasn't a little boy but i was on top of an apartment building, it is just impressive to see, so get out there and see it. >> wonderful feet of american
