thanks tuck new this morning a house on fire in montgomery county last night's cold temperatures may have played a role everyone inside did get out all right but the home is now in danger of collapsing, the people inside say they had a fire in the fireplace last night however there is no official cause just yet. metro investigating an alleged assault onboard one of their buses. the bus driver is arrested. melanie alnwick is live with new details. >> reporter: good morning tony, well, the drivers name has not yet been released we know he has been driving for metro for 12 years i just got off the phone with a metro spokesperson who confirms this driver is facing criminal charges of assault and battery in addition this driver faces an administrative review process at metro that could result in termination friday afternoon 3:45 p.m., when the fight happened apparently, a dispute

over paying the fare the altercation happened on the 38 b bus it goes from boston to farrogate square and ended with the driver, removing the male passenger from the bus but sounds like it was more difficult than that the passenger ended up with a broken arm and was treated at a local hospital other metro drivers and riders say they are not shocked. >> wild people get on the bus all the time. >> i have rid on the 38 b and other buses more than 15 years and occasionally i see, you know, displays of what i call inappropriate behaviour i think the bus drivers generally have an extraordinary amount of patience. >> now metro says the driver did immediately report the incident to his supervisor and continued along his route and then was told to stop the bus

peru is considering extraditing him to the u.s. he tried to extort thousands of dollars from holloway's family in exchange for information where her body was located. holloway went missing in 2005 on a trip to aruba, van der sloot is in peru serving a prison sentence for murdering a woman in 2010. >> to the trayvon martin shooting case police chief sanford florida submitted his resignation, chief lee said it would be effective as of midnight last night but city leaders rejected the resignation they blame outsiders for all the attention the case has drawn and want to wait for the independent investigation of the chief's handling of the case. one time aid to former senator and presidential candidate john edwards will be back on the stand today in edward's criminal trial young claimed he helped edwards use nearly a million dollars in secret campaign con industry bruces to hide his pregnant

of legislature, a half billion dollars in project cuts are due to kick in because lawmakers failed to pass a tax package, during final session. tony. >> allison virginia general assembly recently passed a two year, $85 billion state budget it was not easy and took defection by northern virginia democrat to make it happen joining us now to talk about what is included and what is not and virginia's improving economy, bob mcdonald thank you for coming in. >> thanks for having me on. >> last week a lot of back and forth on the budget including 24 hours leading up to it being passed budgets obviously naturally are made up of compromises, lots of compromises let me ask you first, what do you like about what is in the budget. >> first of all that it is done. it took four different votes to finally get there, and as you pointed out, their budgets are compromises between people from both parties from all over the state what i like, is that we

set priorities, historic new investments on our retirement system, unfunded liabilities and pension system major new investments, i have been pushing for to keep the lid on college tuition increases, more access more affordable, $700 million in new funding for k through 12 to help restore down turn we have had in recent years and funding for things like veterans issues, and criminal justicer yous, tougher punishments for drug dealers and sexual predators but we did reforms too we had government reform and reduced boards and commissions and agencies it is balanced essentially, a good structural blueprint for economic development, 20, $30 million, i think it generally funds but now i've got 10 more days i can look at it make

adjustments and back in final weeks for action. >> as you consider adjustments i would assume there will be somethings about the budget you do not like. >> just started review, i am a little concerned about some cuts they made in economic development we have made strides, focussing on the private sectors down to 5.6% unemployment rate lowest in the southeast lowest in three years part of that has been $100 million of new money general assembly has given to foreign trade offices tax credits other things they have cut that back from about $40 million down to 5 or $10 million, i am a little concerned about that, probably do restoration there on the big structure list tony that i asked the general assembly back in january when i gave the state of the common wealth, they have largely honored those things, big problems funded for priorities i am a little disappointed about transportation funding i asked for sustained new funding for

transportation with the sales tax portion of that going to transportation, they rejected that. so we still have more work to do in the future on transportation overall major ticket items are funded in the appropriate bucket,. speaking of transportation, you had a back and forth with chuck the democratic state senator including right up to the minute there, and he did change his vote, he was one of those who was really pushing for that $300 million for fundingover metro rail. >> yes. >> out to dulles into louden county he gave up on that and thought what was most important is get the budget done you wrote a couple letters what did you say to get him to change his mind. >> i support the dulles rail project, about the largest public project in the nation, critically important i grew up here i know how important that66 and dulles corridor are to be able to reduce traffic congestion, this goes from

tysons, to dulles we have to get a couple things back on track, board hemmers seated, president obama -- board members seated president obama approved in november. two new members for virginia, we have been successful cutting that project back from 2 .8 to 3 .8 billion dollars, a number of rejections in the second phase of dulles rail i thought were not proper and secretary la hood, is the u.s. secretary and our secretary worked together with louden and fairfax to trim back the size. we have some problems with proposals of the second phase of the contract, give preference for gains the drive up the cost audit coming out that frank wolf, congressman wolf asked for, for phase -- for metropolitan washington airport authority make sure it is running efficiently i agreed to put $100 million in, 2013, this money they were pushing for isn't even needed until

2014 i would like to get there i would like to reduce pressure on increased tolls, concern to people up here but we have to make sure tax payers money is properly spent we are not wasting money and that the size and scope of management of the project is well done that is what i will work on next six months. >> another couple issues, you've stressed job creation. >> absolutely. >> indeed unemployment numbers dropped again down in march, what is it, about your policies do you feel helped in that effort. >> one is generally keeping taxes and regulation and losses, low on businesses, secondly, i mentioned $100 million of new investments we have made last couple years trade offices in china and india and london, to tax credits from high tech sector up here, to other types of incentives to bring business here certainly just an active recruitment we have been able to bring companies from other states, to head quarter here in northern virginia and of course

acoustic singer song writer folk pop. >> not really happening i think we are seeing it emerge a little bit more now but seemed like there was a void for a long time of just good song writing and good music would you agree with that >> i think so radio is very club driven and so i think with the internet, it is kind of allowing the other things to come out and find what they like and choose what they are listening to. >> it is a force to be reckoned with, mtv, honored you with basically the best web born artist so there is a whole like category but you have gone out on the road, sold out shows last year what do you see for future. >> um, i mean probably a lot more touring and stuff like that, but i think after i finish this u.s. tour, i am going to get started on the new album i am really excited about that getting back to the creative side and writing. >> and how big of a pressure is this internet is something we go on any time you want to, you want to see new stuff i would imagine it is demanding.
