hyattsville, fox 5s melanie alnwick is live at the scene with the latest. good morning tony yes, we are here along the northwest branch trail in hyattsville just a few blocks behind the west hyattingsville metro station. -- hyattsville metro station this morning there are flyers posted in english and spanish we have seen police officers from the local hyattsville city police department as well as park police patrolling this edge of the trail just this past week when all the local police departments got together and started comparing notes and realizing they may have a serial attacker on their hands in all five women they know of have been sexually assaulted on this trail or near this trail the most recent assaults were mid-march. through april 20th, three women attacked on the northest branch trail itself all accosted by an armed man, dragged off the trail and raped one victim in her 30s one 20s and the most recent victim, 14 years old the

other two attacks happened on streets nearby west hyattsville metro station people who have used the path either to get to metro or for recreation are giving it a second thought. >> cautious makes me aware even during the daytime now that i know, i am skeptical. it makes me kind of just worry about the environment. >> all of the victims reported they were either threatened with a gun or knife, three different suspects sketches have been produced, in all the cases though, the victims have noticed some similarities, saying the attacker is a male hispanic in his 20s. 5'5", 5'7" with a stocky build, police are not sure if they are dealing with one suspect poor two, they are trying to cooberate information there. it goes without saying, park police in hyattsville, city police are urging people to use in their words extreme caution here along the trail, reminding

making headline as horrific car crash in new york leaves 7 people dead. >> victims all part of the same family, wisdom martin back with the latest on this tragedy. >> you know police are investigating what caused this deadly car accident along the bronx river highway one of the factors they are looking into, is height of the guardrails on that highway overpass the crash happened yesterday afternoon after the driver lost control of the suv, the victims were travelling in. police say the vehicle shot across several lanes of traffic before plunging more than 50 feet, off the side of the elevated highway. the suv landed on its roof into a ravine on the grounds of the bronx zoo the car was found in an area of the zoo that is not open to the public, and far away from the animal exhibits. four adultthree children were killed in the accident, the passengers in the car made up three generations of the family, ranging in age from 3

almost 9:12 a.m. a health alert that will likely come as no surprise, 30% of adults in the u.s. are not getting enough sleep, more than 40 million americans are sleeping 6 hours or less every day that is correct is much less than the 7 to 9 hours recommended. night shift workers were most at risk for not getting enough sleep with 44% not getting the recommended amount of rest many studies have shown that can lead to an increased risk of obesity, heart disease and diabetes not to mention drowsy drivers potentially creating a hazard on the road. one researcher suggests employers can do more to make shower workers are getting enough sleep including placing limits on how many nights

psychologically that is a big hurdle to get over. >> just last week i had to go and get a base tan, and that is not true. >> may is skin cancer awareness month you are trying to get the word out about prevention and detection let's talk about detection first how do you know when should you go in should we just do this at a certain point? >> i think everyone should be at least once a year do a skin exam if you have a family history or personal history of skin cancer that should be more frequent but i tell patients, that is not the reason to come in, for one little mole i may do a short exam and say nothing to worry about. >> as far as detection, prevention, what do we need to do. >> most important thing to do, i tell every single person this, doesn't matter if you are black, white, asian, young or old, wear sun screen every single day. we are putting on our moisturizer and sun screen over it. >> exactly. >> every day. >> every single day, you should reapply every two hours that is

asking a little too much on a daily basis. >> you are talking about ears and neck. >> the whole thing. >> if you are bald like me top of your head behind your neck. >> new labels now too, which complicates things what do we need to look for. >> people always are focused on the spf number. so you want something, that is broad spectrum. >> we are looking at tips on your screen you just mentioned 30 or more. apply to dry skin, 15 minutes before exposure. >> and n a perfect setting, reapply. >> every two hours. >> now most people do this on the beach i hope even if something says water proof or water resistant you still want to reapply it, people don't realize this but oils on our skin degrade, spf even if you are in a cool environment. >> you know, it is funny, in talking points it says you mentioned it no matter, you

know, black, white, all of this, i have ho is very brown, and she came up with this, no history, just popped up with it, and she was so surprised and the doctors were too because it is not really a type of skin cancer that she would more typically get. >> it is true we have pigment that protects us from the sun a little bit, but the first patient i had out of residency was an african american woman with skin cancer >> i was talking to tucker earlier he always has great questions he said there is some sort of misconception about sun screen but that is the number one thing to do. >> people always try to get by and say do i need my vitamin d. >> you are getting that with the sun and diet. >> you mention tanning beds dangerous too. >> very dangerous they increase, there is a higher increase of melanoma in patients who use tanning beds, they are not regulated so you don't know what type of

year-old springer spaniel, sad story bella was brought to the vet to be euthanized, they were going on vacation. and by the way she needs eye drops but, they just didn't want to deal any more 6 years old, pure bred dog and a really nice dog she is losing weight she is heavy she does need daily eye drops house trained crate trained very affectionate, very food motivated. >> what are springer spaniels like? their demeanour. >> it varies a lot they were bred to flush out birds they bounce in the field she is probably not a field type but probably not too high energy lower energy at this point, not always good with kids probably older kids for her, good with other dogs clean. >> excellent and over there, dillon who looks clearly like a collie. >> maybe some greyhound mix, he is one of the typical dogs we get in every week we got him

cast. >> yeah, sure. >> you did interact with wildlife. >> yeah, at one point i went through norwahls for miles, those are the ones with the big horns coming out of them up in the arctic, whales, seals, wall us are >> i want to come over to someone else, carl, the program director for crab and matt did his whole trip to raise money for crab tell me about the programs you are involved in. >> well, there are a number of programs, some of which are associated with the need for the disabled children and adults, and the adults that are mentally disabled, as well. the boats that we use, in the program, are really designed for people that simply do not have the use of their arms and

legs. >> is this because they are not able to? our time goes fast and i want to get this in they should be able to experience this amazing thing called sailing. >> absolutely we can do it with the blind, this weekend for example, we have a group coming in that is totally blind, we have folks that have had every conceivable muscular disease, we do about almost 2,000 people every season and we have been doing this for about 21 years at this point. >> and when you have people like matt helping you raise money. >> you bet. >> that helps keep the mission going there is another mission lee come on over here with the sailing hall of fame, and was instrumental in helping get all the hoopla surrounding this record setting event what does it mean to have someone like matt help the cause. >> well, holly, matt's remarkable journey, is like sir edmund hillary going up mount

everest without sherpa's it provides -- provides aspiration for young people and old alike anybody who dreams of doing something, should just go and do it and matt has shown if you dream the dream, and go do it, you can do some wonderful things and therefore provide a remarkable role model for young people. >> so it had to be a moment for you as well when matt came sailing in here to annapolis and was completing this journey and obviously another thing you can feature in the sailing hall of fame. >> well, you know annapolis is the sailing capital of the united states and we posted the whit bred around the world races and all those and a whole broad range of regattas and activities here. when matt came in, saturday, it was much like when the volvo boats came to annapolis we had
