too far. >> one problem with this kind of discussion i think is that you know, you do have to stand on your own words which romney does when he says he isn't going to move heaven and earth to go after osama bin laden and not going to go unilaterally into pakistan and he has got to justify those words but you know, david is right, again a certain degree of not pushing it too far but i will take folks back to the 2004 republican convention where 9/11 was used just unbelievably at this convention, rudy giuliani, folks would read it, franks before came before them even mitt romney came and spoke and went after john carrie, so basically, you know, the use and of course the famous mission accomplished where the mission was not accomplished but you do have to watch this stuff if you over play it, david is right the american people will say okay i give you credit for it but you know,

7:39 am
not an easy decision his advisors were divided i will make a point i think is hard for the white house and others to make had he gone ahead with this and it had failed, a la jimmy carter and the helicopters going down in the desert he was done his presidency would have been over. >> so there were serious considerations all along plus they didn't know osama bin laden was there they were not sure it was going to succeed, at various points in the discussion it was evenly split amongst his advisors so this was not an easy call. >> and when romney says well, this was a no brainer. >> not really. >> no,. >> david are republicans being disingenious, peter makes a point of the convention in 2004 use of 9/11, what a lot of people called fear tactics and all that kind of thing are republicans criticizing some thank they themselves do, ad nauseam some would say. >> sure some of them are being
7:40 am
disingenious when they do that as are democrats when they some times talk about what romney said when they realize the context of the statement was much more delicate i think it is politics election time, it is going to happen this is how it works. i think obama here has the high ground you know, he is the one who got osama bin laden and i think he needs to run with it a bit just be careful don't -- act presidential don't act political. >> i want to squeeze in one question short answers if possible newt gingrich he is out is there a role for him? where does he go? what does he do. >> i will leave that to david. >> the role he had before, i don't think there is a role for an elected office at all now >> i agree, gab fly. >> gab fly thinker. >> what happens at the convention i don't think i would give him a huge sticking role at that convention you never know what will come out
