officer, behind bars this morning, facing several charms including murder. officer daniel -- charges including murder. >> officer daniel wright, shot patricia cook in her car in february he claimed it was in self-defense. melanie is live in the newsroom with reaction to the inditement. >> reporter: cull peppers mayor is asking the community to join in the healing process, so as he says the town can regain the citizen's trust again. the attorney for patricia cook's family told us his clients are relieved to finally have an inditement after so long. 10:00 a.m., february 9th. officer wright responded to a call for a suspicious vehicle in a catholic school parking lot initial reports said, after the officer asked to see cook's identification she closed her drivers side window on him and started driving away dragging the officer along and he only fired when cook failed to stop despite repeated commands. cook's husband spoke with fox 5 in february and said he just didn't understand that account.

melanie alnwick reporting. in other news a metro worker recovering from serious injuries after being hit by a train. this happened at a rail yard in shady grove. the worker was trapped under the train for about an hour, he was conscious and talking to rescuers while they tried to keep him calm and get him out. the train was coming into a building used for maintenance when the accident happened the worker was flown to shock trauma in baltimore with what appeared to be serious leg injuries. mitt romney clenches the republican nomination for the residency. he surfaced the magic number of 1,144 delegates needed with a big win in texas primary. in a post victory statement he said he is honored and humbled to become the presidential nominee and quote, we will settle for nothing less than getting america back on the path, to full employment, and prosperity. end quote. to local politics dc council

hind sight is certainly 20/20 for a denver brain surgeon who decided to propose to his girlfriend by burying the wedding ring. this happened in florida. he wanted to do something creative and hoped his girlfriend mary would dig the ring up out of the sun but forgot where he buried it. she found a local company who brought out a metal detector they were able to locate the ring and she did say yes.

them farther and farther east, during the day. not a beautiful day for you if you are in a lower eastern shore. no doubt about it for the rest of us, a few left over sprinkles hang in there by this afternoon we should gradually see more and more sunshine a big improvement in the forecast cooler temperatures a little less humidity than yesterday. the bigger picture and we will get down to the carolinas, that is remnants of beryl. that is having an influence on our forecast this morning. we are getting some of that moisture, streaming north ward, enhancing the rain rates south and east of the city. and pulling our humidity up a little bit. you can see, that if you are north and west of the city, just generally, cloud cover and out to the west, west virginia, ohio we have clear skies. later this afternoon, we will trend towards more and more sunshine here, as beryl continues to push off to the north and east, race on out of here and we should see gradually improving forecast. all right temperature right now regan national, 71 degrees, 71

in the music world, grammy winner, doc watson passed away in north carolina yesterday. his wide ranging style, influenced generations of musicians he was blind since a child and no stranger to tragedy. meryl fest a popular event that draws in crowds across the nation was named after his son who died in a farming accident. doc watson was still performing until the end with a show

rosie, the bachelor, i cannot tell you how many shows and i will give you just one example of jim, when ellen came out, and you know she was poisoned in hollywood, none of the studios would touch more, because they were afraid the south wouldn't like her midwest and ellen couldn't get a job. jim realized what a great talent she was, and jim decided he wanted to do a talk show with her and he went station by station, around the country, and met with almost every general manager he could, and convinced them one by one, why this was such a good bet and it was a hard sell but jim was a consummate sales man, amazing producer, and as i think -- i don't even need to explain, he was right about ellen. >> sure was. he will be missed 58 years old. >> sad news harvey. let's switch gears a little bit, kim kardashian returning
