potential resignation of council chairman kwame brown especially after we are hearing federal investigators may be close to wrapping up their case. that federal investigation was launched after an audit by dc council, of dc office of campaign finance. brown's election campaign failed to e are port, $200,000 in expenditures and money wound up in the hands of a consulting company, controlled by brown's brother. here is what the council chairman had to say . i have no plans to resign. i have no plans at this time to resign and i apologize for putting residents even in a situation where we are have to stand here and talk about this as opposed to the good work council and my colleagues finished.

state's republican governor scott walker survived a recall vote yesterday, defeating his democratic challenger by 4 points or so but will the vote really be a bell weather for the november presidential election. joining us now are democratic political strategist, peter feen and republican strategist, jim innocenzi. jim, walker wins, obviously there is a lot beginning on here primarily about the collective bargaining thing for the state workers. what are the potential ramifications, and implications, of this win on the november election? >> i think there are a few red flags you know, everybody looks at it as if, well, this was just a local election. it was but the labor unions picked the fight and lost. they spent millions of dollars but the really interesting thing is the ground game. republicans really put a focus

on the ground game. they went against the labor unions obama's machine was up there and they lost big. what i think you will see this puts wisconsin in play gain. last time a republican won wisconsin was 84 with regan. bush lost it by i think 5,000 votes one year, and very close and in 2004 i think he lost by 7,000. so both of those -- all of a sudden wisconsin is on the map. that is a problem for to obama administration. the campaign has always had a calculation of how many electro call votes they have to win and win -- electro call votes they have had to win and wisconsin is no long era slam dunk. the other thing peter real quick republicans and scott walker took the message of the labor unions and collective bargaining and switched to jobs economy and taxes and thaw that is how he ended up flopping the numbers i think they did a very smart thing there is a lesson to be learned there i am sure

the romney people will pick it up. >> a couple points i will make here. first of all, the republicans had to out spend the democrats, 7-1. third these do overs don't do over very well for the challengerrings, so, you know, -- challengers, so i would question to be honest the decision to put all this money in all this effort into a recall, when the chances of winning these recalls is so minor. >> but second point historically, exactly. but the second point we have had two of them in 100 years. second point, to your initial question, the polls show, the exit polls, that obama is up by 8 points. now, after bare let lost by 7, the numbers are not very good, for romney.

romney lost -- mccain lost it by 14 points last. >> in wisconsin. >> but i would keep my eye on this. i think i wouldn't put my cheese head on if i were romney yet, but i think it will be a competitive race because as jim said, very competitive in 2000 and very competitive in 2004. >> to me, another interesting thing about it is the referendum on unions, is it -- could we see this translate nationally >> i don't think this is so much a referendum on unions it was a referendum on scott walker. i think union bashes whose fault was it that the tapers, you know, -- teachers, you know, retirement fund tanked. it was wall street. teachers are not getting rich. look i will stand up for teachers any day of the week but politically, this is not -- >> over reach by the unions is what it was and i think the situation is scott walker has

done a good job everybody, every executive in this country has a crisis right now because there is not -- they are spending more money than they have he took the tough road, he made some tough stands the unions didn't like it but voters did. >> and these are working in wisconsin. >> he sold it at that. >> you write in this week's u.s. news obama has gone on the offensive with negative ads against romney you say there is some criticism but you say he needs to do it. why? >> this is not going to be a referendum only on barack obama. this is a choice. every election is a choice. this campaign has started so much earlier than any other presidential campaign the money is there, you know wait until the conventions wait until the fall. ain't happening romney, is one thing these folks do well, they go negative they go hard they are tough. you know you play patsy, you

play i am the nice guy you are gone and so they need to make this contrast and especially on the issue which jim and i have talked about now for a year, jobs. who is the best guy for jobs you got to make your case. >> jim, peter says in this article, can romney campaign doesn't want this to be a comparison between what obama has done and what romney has done they don't want it to be a direct comparison do you agree with that? >> he doesn't want it to be a comparison of the two candidates and their records. >> as romney he just wants referendum >> it has to be. this is the president and why would you -- i mean, you have the look at what he has done for the last four years and decide whether you want him again. peter is right they don't have a choice they can't run on their record because their record stinks so what they have to do, is -- >> i am not sure that is what peter said. >> that is not what i said. >> so, what they have to do is run a negative campaign. it will be the devil you know versus the devil you don't know.

juice drinks like sunny delight orca pray sun it is like a soda -- or capri sun it is like a soda pop, you want to limit juice, no more than one a day. they will be marketing juice but in smaller container sizes. >> nuggets have become like okay, lunchtime staple, right, no more than 250 calories, 480- milligrams of sodium which still sounds high to me. >> it is better. i think what disney isn't going with like only purely healthy food you know like not only grilled chicken breast, fruits, vegetables, whole wheat bread it is a transition they will be moving toward healthier food marketing getting rid of the candy, the sugary drinks the salty snack foods, it will be a next step forward, in reducing junk food marketing but they still have some work to do. >> and the theme parks too just to note they have done some work with their theme park food and also they have announced 25% reduction of sodium, at the parks, and that they are hoping to put into place by next year.

let me ask you in your opinion, will this really help? i am not being cynical, but what do parents have to do to partner with this? >> you know this is really important marketing has such a profound effect on children's eating habits. not only them pestering their parents for whatever food has characters on it or what they see advertised on tv but shaped the whole way they think about food, what they think of as food with they are willing to eat not only at home, but at school, you know there is a reason why, hamburgers, chicken nuggets and french fries are so popular in schools those are the foods most marketed to kids we need to change marketing so we can cultivate good eating habits in kids not only so they will eat well now but so they will eat well the rest of their lives. >> last seconds together margo could you pass along tips for parents now i am one of those parents we are so over scheduled and over booked during the school year now the summer is coming they are not doing ballet not in gymnastics

very sore looking kinda blistery. like somebody had set a bag of hot charcoal on my neck. i was a firefighter for 24 years. but, i have never encountered such a burning sensation until i had the shingles. i remember it well. i was in the back yard doing yard work. i had this irritation going on in my lower neck. i changed shirts because i thought there was something in the collar of the shirt irritating my neck. and i couldn't figure out what was going on. i had no idea it came from chickenpox. i always thought shingles was associated with people... a lot older than myself.

themcoming, so like adding insult to injury. >> i love it just as they used to say educated consumer. >> bingo >> today we are talking about this specifically, travel fees that aggravate us, sneaky cell phone fees and irksome car fees. ing a have a rating travel fees, -- aggravating travel fees it is a drain to travel any where, especially air travel. >> that is probably the most annoying fee, baggage fees which keep getting bigger along with baggage. one thing to remember about that, if you are taking a big trip and you are packing heavily so that you will be hit with over weight baggage charges, probably cheaper to just ship the suitcase or ship the stuff you want to spend. that way you will save fees, more and more people will be charged seat fees. my husband and i just experienced this flying to australia to see our son there

as an intern we paid our tickets on quantas you know quite a lot of money to go all the to australia, then had to pay $20 extra, to reserve a seal. >> to sit next to each other. >> right. >> so any way, -- a seat. to sit next to each other. >> right. >> so any way, it has always been extra to sit in the exit aisle but now more and more a fee to reserve your seat ahead of time . there is a way to beat it, one way if you are willing to take your chances, you can wait until the day you fly, because the airlines will hold backseats to give to people on the day, they are going to assign you, your own seat and you won't pick it they will pick it for you if you are willing to take that chance if it is a short hop flight, you may just want to get there a couple hours early, get a good seat. >> tough, i experienced it with the kids i wanted them to be together you got to pay some times. the usage fees for online booking and most of us book online these days.

>> right. this isn't totally universal but on some airlines, spirit has its business model is that it offers rock bottom fares but charges you for everything else. you have to be careful. it will charge you for booking your ticket online the way around that if you book through kay yak or one of those other travel aggregation sites you are able to avoid that and spirit doesn't charm you for buying a ticket at the airport -- charm you for buying a ticket at the airport. >> sneaky cell phone fees what are the highlights how do we get around them. >> the interesting thing is everybody when you get your bill you always look at the bill itself, how many calls text messages et cetera, et cetera. look at the very bottom often there are additional charges that are stuck on there, that you may be totally unaware of maybe they are charges for international calling or ring tones. i did another interview a couple weeks ago the person who

was interviewing me said they got charged for ring tones they didn't sign up for. immediately get in contact with the provider and say i don't want -- i am not going to pay for this. don't charge me any more for third party services i don't subscribe to third party services. the car fees, the big one with the question is, do you want insurance and i am always like i don't know do i? so, what are the major ones with the sneaky fees with the car fees. >> well, the major thing is the biggest at least dollar wise one is the collision damage waiver which is basically insurance. now the short answer to that is, if you are a driver and got insurance on your car you really don't need this because you are going to be covered. that is the short answer some people, now days, say well, they don't want to risk having an accident and having it be on their regular insurance policy. in that case they purchase the
