out a pop up shower or maybe an isolated thunderstorm is possible. we are talking a daytime high of 80 degrees, but the humidity will be felt out there, trust me on that. more details in the five day later back to you. big story this morning dc council chair kwame brown steps down following a felony bank fraud charge. >> what is next and what kind of prison time could brown be facing. fox 5s melanie alnwick live at the wilson building with more this morning and yesterday, melanie, kind of saw this coming. >> yeah, we did. it is one of those things where he doth protest too much right? we have been hearing, prosecutors have been getting ready to wrap up the investigation and indeed what we thought would happen did. kwame brown submitted his resignation yesterday. we understand he will plead guilty to that one count of bank fraud now that charging document says it is related to

over stating income, lying about income and false fying documents to get loans but all of this is a negotiated settlement, that means, the feds were willing to cut a deal in exchange for browns cooperation the 41-year-old council chairman has been under fire for more than a year, it was an audit by the dcs office of campaign finance that found brown's 2008 election campaign failed to report many financial transactions, funneled money to a consulting company controlled by brown's brother that led to the federal investigation which uncovered the bank fraud in the end those corruption charges were not brought that was a surprise to many but legal experts says the not uncommon for prosecutors, to cut these deals inics change for lighter -- in exchange for lighter sentences. >> he is pleading guilty, it is a charging document, not an inditement, he knew a couple days ago this was the course he was going to follow.

the guilty plea bank fraud is 0 to 30 years in prison. guidelines that address this, i did a calculation, probably looking at 12 to 16 months. >> reporter: one thing that could be in play here by not pleading guilty to public corruption charges, it is a way for kwame brown to sort of have an out in all of this, he could says the all in my past and i was only guilty of something that was a personal failing it didn't have anything to do with my service in office. as far as the office of council chairman goes, mary che is the acting chair some time next week she will call a special council meeting, they will choose one of the four at large

members to be interim chairman. new this morning a tragic development involving the owner of the dc improve comedy club. the body of 60-year-old mark anderson was found yesterday at a hotel in arizona. in addition to the dc location ander son owned an improve in tempe arizona that had just closed june 1st arizona republic newspaper reports he was having issues with business partners. his wife reported him missing may 15th. a story you will see here first on fox 5. two prince georges county police officers are under investigation in charles county for allegedly assaulting a teenager the officers were off duty but in a marked cruiser when they allegedly stopped three teens in a waldorf neighbourhood. fox 5s paul wagner has the story. >> reporter: this is where it all started in this house on a quiet court in waldorf where

the teens say they were invited for a memorial day picnic. as the afternoon turned to evening the homeowner accused them of taking items from the house and searched one of the teens. the three left. two of the teens were on bikes one on foot as the off duty officers approached one of the teens ran off a second one was detained by one of the off duty officers and the third teen we are calling jl arrived here in a 3,000 block miranda place where he says the officer shouted stop or i will shoot you in the back. jl says he then sunk to his knees and the officer tackled him. a man who says he witnessed the incident agreed to recount what he saw as long as fox 5 didn't identify him. >> approaching the round about i seen a large caucasian male, chasing a younger black male,

down by the park. then once i came around the round about, i seen the officerrer or i don't know if he was an officer or just a regular guy, just in regular clothes i seen him pounding on top of the victim. >> reporter: jl says he and the other teen were handcuffed and driven away. >> i was very scared and nervous there i didn't know where he was taking me what he was going to do. >> reporter: his father agreed to let us speak to him as long as we did not show his face or use his real name. the second teen was able to slip out of his handcuffs and get away. now jl was alone >> i just sit back there and just ride i was scared i would never see my parents again. >> reporter: he was told to get out of the cruiser and walk up to the fence where his handcuffs were removed and

officers told him to put his chin against the fence and count to 100 they then drove away. >> they never said anything about why they were detaining you. >> no, sir. >> then when you got here, and you were told to walk forward, what was going through your mind here. >> i didn't know was he going to hit me in the back of my head again or -- i thought he was going to shoot me or taser me. so much stuff going through my head. >> paul wagner fox 5 news. >> charles county sheriff's office is conducting a criminal misconduct investigation. the officers police powers have been suspended they are now on desk duty. in the race for the white house president barack obama continues his campaign swing out west this morning we learned his fundraising is going well the obama campaign is announcing it raised $60 million last month. last night the president got a lot of support at the

fundraiser with gay and lesbian supporters. >> the fight for equality and justice on behalf of the lgbt community is just part of a broader fight on behalf of all americans. after speaking at a private home in l.a. this morning the president heads to vegas to speak at university of nevada on college affordability. republican challengers, mitt romney is in missouri this afternoon he will be there for an event at military contractor romney says he plans to put his sizable fortune into a federal blind trust if elected. that way, he wouldn't know how it is invested and would not be able to control purchase or sale of investments. his assets are estimated to be worth $250 million. congress wants to know if the white house is leaking secret details to the press. >> as fox's doug luzader reports some leaks are of

classified information. >> the white house is really pushing back on this but congress is asking tough questions about classified leaks and politics. the new york times, and the white house, just what kind of connection is there? the fbi now wants to know, and so do members of congress after a series of classified leaks the stories included disclosures about the highly secretive, computer virus that helped set back iran's new clear program. someone leaked the u.s. was behind it republicans blame administration. >> i just think some body in the white house is orchestrating an effort to leak classified programs and organizations to make the president look good. >> white house spokesman implied the allegation is absurd. any suggestion this administration authorized intentional leaks of classified information for political gain he said, is grossly irresponsible. there was a leak about the president's role in selecting

terrorist targets for secret drone atacts. there have been so many leaks in recent weeks, they are talking about trying to crackdown on them with new legislation. but the open question remains, who is really behind all of those headlines. but there is also a political reality here, that leaks have been a part of washington culture for generations and stopping them can be almost impossible. in washington doug luzader, fox news. in syria today, united nations monitors have now been barred from the site of a reported new massacre. so far, no official toll has been confirmed some estimates say as many as 87 people were killed. rebels say government soldiers shot dozens of people at close range one activist reports finding bodies of more than 40 women and children. the syrian government says claims that its troops carried out the killings are baseless. next on fox 5 morning news she is a mother and her daughters manager and her

she is only in second grade but a virginia girl is getting a big honor for her bravery. 8-year-old katie lee called 911 after seeing her mother fall down the stairs. yesterday the county's emergency call center presented her with a 911 citizen life saver award in front of her classmates at school. she described the scene to reporters and told them why she called 911. >> i saw a big opening here and then her leg was all bruise up

a parent can do is number one -- smartest thing a parent can do is number one, go with a referral. usually everything we hear on the radio and television is scammy i go through my own relationships with people in the industry and people who have had children in the industry and who can refer us to legitimate agencies. part of the reason i am here is because i love diane mcfarlane jessica's original agent in denver years ago i trusted her from day one and she had a way of caring about these children, that permeated everything that happened at that agency you felt it from the minute you walked in the door there wasn't just someone after my money someone wanted to know who my child was, what she was great at and then supported and loved her and cared about our family. so if you walk in the door, from one of those places and you don't feel that, it is the

wrong place. >> right and our time is just ticking away i have so many questions to ask you about your journey but i think the audience would be best served knowing how -- you told me where you started but how you then progressed jessica biel is a huge star and you must be so proud but what were the steps and how close to jessica were you each step of the way. >> moment by moment. and that is what i would tell parents you have to be there. jessica went to a talent competition in los angeles that came through diane mcfarlane's agency in denver. she took the kids and prepared them to go to l.a. they walked into this competition feeling like a million bucks because they were all prepared. so jessica did really well at that competition, that is what won her an acting scholarship to a school in los angeles, and the women who then became herman that injuries at that time -- managers at that time

and one of them will be involved with diane mcfarlane here some time in washington. so we went from being in a competition to basically being discovered, to that competition but also because of the referrals that came from our agents in denver. so from there, they give us this wonderful scholarship we didn't know what to do with it we were from colorado. we were like country bumpkinshollywood was not part of our vocabulary. they said come out for pilot season. we spent three, january, february, march used to be pilot season and we would go out and stay in apartments with a lot of other family who come out to do the same thing and kids go out and audition. >> tips for parents you can read that, as agive you this information -- i give you this information, kim biel is with

little bit of instability in the atmosphere. that will cause the chance of seeing maybe an isolated pop up thunderstorm or a shower before it is all said and done. be prepared for that. as we look at what we are expecting in the long term today, hit at least 80 degrees, westerly wind flow, 5 to 10 miles per hour. tonight, skies will clear overnight hours, a few showers, onset of the evening 60 degrees. take a look, from friday right through to monday. no shortage of sunshine as our temperatures rise. we are hitting 90 degrees sunday. lingers through into monday as well. it will be hot and humid and sticky, great weather get out and enjoy, hopefully you will get to do outdoor activity today is the only day so far you will have to definitely keep your eye to the sky in case we get that pop up shower or thunderstorm. so keep the sunglasses handy, drink plenty of water, and stay hydrated and make sure your
