the door to be open. we are going to see the temperatures into thes even the 90s. definitely summer-like conditions across the region. humidity will be fairly low. not too bad. not quite as uncomfortable as yesterday. but you will feel it a little bit out there. 81 degrees by midday. the high today will be 84 degrees. and through the weekend, we are headed for a 90-degree day. and those details later. back to you. now to the big story of another charge against brown. first he was slapped with bank fraud. >> and now the former council chairman is facing a criminal charge for campaign finance. he is expected to plead guilty to both charges this morning. we are live with the latest outside federal court in the district. the first stop for brown. >> reporter: that's right. he is getting a tour of the court system today, but not the kind that you want.

he is expected here in about two hours and later this afternoon, he will appear in dc superior court on a campaign finance violation. brown's guilty pleas that are expected today, the final nail in his political downfall. brown was hit with that campaign finance violation last night or yesterday, it's a misdemeanor. prosecutors say he allowed family members to make withdrawls and then using to it buy a family boat. according to investigators, he inflated his income to get a loan. for that, he is facing the federal bank loan fraud charge. he comes on the hills of thomas' resignation for taking taxpayer money. but tim craig speaking on fox 5 morning news says, the two cases are very different. >> thomas, the last councilmember to resign about six months ago, he was arrested

and, or actually pled guilty to stealing $350,000 from taxpayers. that was a root of corruption scandal. this case, as we know so far, we don't know all the facts so far, deals largely with brown's personal indiscretions dealing with money and apparently living beyond his means and using that to then, you know, get a faulty mortgage. >> reporter: and now after this, brown will head to dc superior court at 1:30. in the interim, mary chay will act as chair until next week, until the full council can take a vote on a replacement and then an election will have to be held for a permanent replacement to fill that seat. brown will be in federal court here again in just about two hours. he could face up to 30 years for that charge. but expers tell us it is likely he will face far less, and

possibly will get some sort of jail time. that's the latest here, back to you. >> thank you. a murder investigation underway in silver spring. police were called to the apartment wednesday night on east west highway by a family member who had not been able to reach him. the 34-year-old, the top salesman at a jaguar range rover tealership was found shot right now, police don't have a motive for the killing and few clues. the family is pleading, hoping for a tip to help crack this case. a quick arrest following a shooting at the southern avenue metro station. he was shot and killed tuesday in a bus bay at the station. witnesses say the man who pulled the trigger said just one word, move before shooting him in the head. police say 32-year-old northerly windman bonnes is facing first degree murder charges.

his sister says that bonnes has a history of mental illness. he also has a lengthy criminal past. a photo is of the victim. a 7-year-old girl is the third victim to die from a terrible car wreck this week in northern virginia. victoria williams passed away yesterday at the hospital. her mother and 5-year-old sister were killed tuesday night when their car hit another car on lee highway in fairfax. the driver of the other vehicle remains in critical condition. there's still no word this morning as to why a toddler was found wander ago loan barefoot and carrying a plate of food in prince george's county. police believe the boy is less than 2 years old. he was found on morgan boulevard yesterday. his parent was found hours later. the child was checked out at the hospital and said to be in good health. the so-called east coast rapist is set to appear in court today. a judge will determine if aaron thomas is competent to stand trial. he is accused in a series of

rapes along the east coast including those of two tangies on halloween in 20. his lawyer says he refuses to talk and has injured himself while in custody. prosecutors claim he has previously faked mental issues. thomas' trial is schedule to begin next month. an update on the wikileaks case. private first class bradly manning is due to return to a courtroom today. a military judge is scheduled to rule on defense motions to dismiss some of the charges against him. his lawyers say 8 of the 22 charges are too vague and they say prosecutors made false statements in two of the other charges. in world news now, the head of the united nations is blasting syria after un monitors were fired on allegedly with heavy weapon rich history by syrian soldiers. they were trying to get to the site of that latest massacre

site. the special peace envoy tells the general assembly that syria is drifting toward full blown civil war. a video from greece, hard to watch, but capturing attention as politicians assault each other on live tv over the budget cuts. take a look. now really the man that you see the striking the women there. he is a nazi party official and former special forces soldier. he throws water in one woman's face. and another woman responds by slapping him with a newspaper. and then it heats up. he stands up and hits the woman repeatedly. there's now a warrant for his arrest. he claims the tv station doctored the video. >> sorry about that. seems a bear may be on the loose in a neighborhood. take a look. a homeowner decided to check his surveillance video when he noticed the trash cans had been flipped over. he watched as the bear walked

she did you want have supportive parents or even a place to call home, but one north carolina teen is determined to succeed. >> she graduated from high school yesterday. the homeless teenager managed to juggle class and her job as a school custodian while sleeping on friends' coaches. and now the -- friends' couches. and now the 18-year-old is harvard bound. >> when i was younger, i saw the negligent, the drug abuse, the overall bad choices and i saw my family living from paycheck to paycheck. and i made a decision for myself that i wasn't going to end up like my parents. there are no excuses. it depends on you and no one else. >> she is receiving some scholarship money from harvard and community members have chipped in to help with some of the remaining costs. >> you know, we hear some of the stories about teenagers going wrong and everything. and then we've had a series of stories this morning about young people doing the right

news i have to report to you each and every day. the stories that have me so mad and outraged that frankly sadden that they are really hard to deal with. the stories that people hurting and at times killing each other, especially those in society who are defensively like little people, kids, older people, animals, for example, all of that group plus each and every one of us, each life has value. those stories affect me quite deeply. how about the teenager who die in senseless acts of violence and the seeming loss of value and respect for life that we show each other, our neighbors, you know those stories that i'm talking about. we bring them to you all the time. those type stories, i take them in, but i work hard not to awill you me to lose faith that there's still good in our community and world. and i also work hard not to let my emotions show. that's my job as a newscaster to be objective. in your own life, it's the same way, that composure at that moment to carrying on a larger

mess campaign finance whatever it is to be dignified in the situation, not to let other people know that they have gotten to you. that's powerful to keep the face on in some of the hard times. excuse me, especially at work. ultimately, i too i to look for balance and know there's still good out there. when it gets too bad, i have somebody in my life i go to. the wisest man that know, sorry mark is my dad. he happens to be a retired minister. i go to him if i lose that perspective in man. he tries to tell me that there's something bigger that there is a plan perhaps that i just don't understand. and now that leads to the good and touching stories that we have the pleasure to report to you. man, we got a bunch today. how about the story about the young maryland boy that despite living with brain damage after someone shook him as an 8-month- old baby, see, that makes me mad, but that boy exudes nothing but love and joy. or the brother who donated bone

marrow and saved his little stir. those stories move me so much that if i allow myself to watch and really get it into my emotions, let those emotions flow, i would be a mess up here. we're talking about make-up, headache-induced tears. which leads me back to your question about seeing the shuttle and that american flag flying proudly on the side of it. that decal there. it touched me so much. the bond of being an american. our pride in country. and the accomplishments of the space program. and how all of that seems to unify us as a people, as a nation for a while. there are no partisan politic, no hate. just for a while, when we saw that picture, a couple weeks ago, we all had that same bond. and it feels pretty darn good. that touched me. and if i were at home on my couch, i will say it again, i would have been sobbing with

pride. so how do i handle it? here at work, i can't let my emotions fly freely, so i don't let it sink in too much. i'm tearing up just thinking about the stories, but sometime i turn away from the story quite literally, i take my ear piece out. i don't hear it because it's too much. or concentrate on something early for those few emotional seconds. something i get caught up in it and a tear will threaten to fall. but just not all the time. nobody wants that. bottom line, i can't let my emotions go. awful stories and the same holds true for the wonderful and touching reports. i work hard for my job calls more at the month keep myself together. that's what you got to do, talk to yourself sometime so i can do my job and move on to the next story for you. you deserve that. >> your response so, so perfect. >> if you have a question that
