weather week ever. >> thank you, tucker! we don't have stormy weather to talk about, so that is going to be very nice today for everybody. we've got a little bit of humidity that's kicking in, so be prepared for that. and a few clouds. really, other than that, it's going to be fairly pleasant. yesterday we reached 83 at reagan. 81 at dulles. 82 at bwi. now it's 64 degrees at national. our humidity is up 84%. not too bad now, because the air temperature isn't that high. once the air temperature gets higher, the humidity will make it feel a little uncomfortable. light northerly wind flow at 6 miles per hour. so for today we're talking a high of 81 degrees. mostly sunny skies and light winds. few more clouds kicking in as we move through into the late afternoon, evening hours. that will set us up for a few clouds on saturday. i want you to know the weekend is looking fabulous. great day ahead for father's day. i think you're going to love the five-day forecast.

let's check in with lauren demarco. >> we are doing kind of rough in prince george's county on the beltway. had a serious crash involving a tractor-trailer. skyfox remains live over that scene, still working to get this cleared up and out of the way. folks now able to use the two right lanes and the right shoulder to get by the crash. thank you to skyfox for keeping us up-to-date. you'll see the delays stretching now nearly 5 miles. it's stacked up to get past that scene. trying to see if there are delays reported on route 50, none of our wazers are reporting that. looks like you can get onto the beltway from 50 without issue at this point. little bit of orange there headed southbound. that's the inner loop. you are dealing with rubber

necking delays. trafficland, northbound 95, dale city. 395 not much of an issue now. 66still jammed out of manassas. president obama campaigns in new york city. the commander-in-chief attended a star studded fundraiser at the home of actress sarah jessica parker and her actor husband, matthew broderick. >> it was expected to bring in a lot of money for his campaign and came after he campaigned in the state of ohio. fox's doug luzader is live with more on the busy day on the campaign trail. doug. >> reporter: good morning, guys. 50 people forked over a collective $2 million last night to have dinner with the president, the first lady, and sarah jessica parker. this is about as close as you could get to president obama last night, unless you were willing to pay $40,000 a piece

to attend the dinner at sarah jessica parker's manhattan home. >> the president was on my street, so that was cool. >> reporter: cool for the president, too. capping off a long day campaigning. in ohio, it was all about the economy and attacking republicans. >> the regulations designed to protect consumers and workers, they promised to not only keep all the bush tax cuts in place, but add another $5 trillion in tax cuts on top of that. >> reporter: the president didn't outline new proposals in cleveland, but he did speak for 54 minutes. mitt romney tried to steal some of his thunder with his own event in cincinnati, saying the president's policies were following the path of europe. >> actions speak loud. if you want to see the results of his economic policies, look around the country and you'll see a lot of people are hurting. >> reporter: today romney will launch a bus tour of important swing states, six of them, over

the next five days. democratic party is looking closely at that itinerary. they'll have their own bus following romney every step of the way. back to you guys. >> doug luzader live on the hill. thank you. president obama is hosting a reception later today in honor of gay pride month. this comes weeks after the president declared his support for gay marriage. for the first time ever the pentagon will commemorate lgbt pride month. the department of defense is planning an event the next couple of weeks. an openly gay prosecutor has been appointed a judgeship. he was honorably discharged as a navy pilot because of his sexual orientation. legislators pointed to that defiance as a reason that he should not serve. the appointment was left to the circuit court because the

general assembly failed to fill that seat. details regarding the firing of university of virginia's president. the faculty senate has passed a resolution expressing their disapproval of the decision. it expressing the faculty's strong support of sullivan. secondly, the "washington post" reports today the board's decision was not unanimous as some believed. the post said three board members were not made aware of the campaign to remove her as president until late last week. now to our big local story, mgm is looking to take a gamble on the state of maryland. >> that is a big deal, right? the world's leading gaming industry is interested in operating a casino at the national harbor in prince george's county. this morning, that is where fox 5's sherri ly is joining us. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, will, good morning, allison. it's a pretty sure bet now that a casino project is going to be

announced today here at national harbor. there is a press conference scheduled at 11:15 this morning in annapolis. the developer, the peterson company, would only say it's a major hospitality and gaming company. but we do know mgm officials are meeting with the governor and maryland senate leaders this morning, signaling this impending deal. mgm spokesman says it's interested in building a high end casino here. the governor would have to call a special session as he indicated he would in july to pave the way for a casino. prince george's county executive likes the possibilities. >> we want a destination resort for prince george's county, because that's where we'll have

the economic benefit. i think this speaks well of it. so we're excited. >> reporter: anne arundel county is concerned about losing business, but there was an independent study released this week that says the state could raise as much as $161 million more by adding a sixth casino as well as that table gaming. that announcement expected in a few hours from annapolis that a proposed casino will be coming to national harbor. that's the latest here. back to you. we are following a developing story out of the district. that's where police are on the hunt, the suspect accused of shooting and killing a beloved northeast business owner. her name, june lim. she was found dead notice grace deli on h street early yesterday morning. fox5's maureen umeh has a

closer look at what happened. >> reporter: d.c. police combing h street thursday night looking for clues to catch a killer who took the life of 65- year-old june lim, the owner of the deli. >> they had no reason to take her life. >> reporter: it was lim's custom to come alone to the deli on the corner of 7th and h street to open up around 5:00 or 5:30 every morning. her husband of 40 years had told her it was potentially dangerous. >> don't look at them. just give to them. >> reporter: she was found thursday morning by one of other employees. police believe someone may have followed her inside the deli, and shot her in the neck, killing her. police say the gate to the deli was partially open and they believe robbery was the motive.

>> particularly hard for myself and my wife, because we were expecting our first grandchild this year, so she will miss the birth of the first grandchild. >> reporter: we are attempting to determine what exactly is missing from the establishment. at this time i can't discuss that further. >> reporter: lim put in 12 hours a day. some called her grace, like the name of the deli. one employee says she treated him like family. >> me and my wife and daughter, she's always there for us. anything we ask, she help us. food, anything you want, take it. >> reporter: detectives are looking to see if a camera in or outside the store captured anything that could lead to a suspect. the person who took a mother and wife away from her family and friends, leaving them all devastated.

>> right now a live look outside lim's store. you can see flowers left on the security gate. some of her customers are planning to hold that vigil in front of the store around noon today. they're hoping to uncover clues that will help catch the killer. major development in the so- called potomac river rapist case. another sexual assault was linked to the suspect, already accused of nine other attacks in d.c. and montgomery county, decades ago. police say the latest assault linked him -- was linked to him happened in july of 1996 #. last year the fbi started a public awareness campaign to drum up tips on the suspect. >> looks like that campaign has worked. good. the jury in the jerry sandusky trial gets the day off. this follows some of the most graphic testimony so far in his case. we're going live to pennsylvania coming up next for an update on where the case stands. >> and if you don't like your week day commute, this weekend

the jury in the jerry sandusky penn state abuse case has the day off. they return monday to hear more testimony. >> the court has heard from eight accusers who prosecutors plan to call, including very graphic testimony yesterday. good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning to you. now a day off, especially for the defense, but the defense also taking this day to work on

their strategy for next week. the attorney for sandusky says he's working into the weekend to get ready for monday when he calls his witnesses. could it be jerry sandusky? we're hearing that's a possibility. could it be his wife? that's a possibility as well. maybe even some young people that sandusky knew as a character witness that would say things about him unlike what the alleged victims are saying. one thing we know is that they are going to continue going after some of the testimony of the alleged victims as well. the attorneys saying that some of the alleged victims are in this for financial gain and some hiring criminal attorneys -- civil attorneys, not criminal attorneys and they say that's unusual in a case like this as well. >> dave, you've been all over this case. in opening remarks, the defense indicated the jury might hear from sandusky. are your experts saying he might take the stand as maybe a

hail mary pass? >> reporter: it's something his attorney said was likely in opening statements and it's certainly a possibility. we don't have any definite answer on that now. it would be one of the most compelling points in this case. >> thank you so much. that's dave kinchen. thank you so much, dave. we're learning details about the will left behind by late penn state coach joe paterno. his family released details of the will thursday, yesterday. he left his personal property to his wife, sue, and established a trust for the remainder of his estate. the documents don't state how much paterno nor his estate were worth. the hall of fame coach died of cancer in january. turning to weather now, . >> what is this from? >> from last night raising

83 degrees. we have a great looking five- day forecast as well and i'll show you that later. >> thanks, gwen. >> gift for date. that's nice. lauren demarco standing by, got a look at the roads. >> good morning, allison. things pretty ugly today on the roads in prince george's county the outer loop of the beltway we've been telling with a mess. live look, still heavy and slow leaving route 4 pennsylvania avenue. passing ritchie marlboro road, everybody creeping by. not something you want to sit in if you don't have to. closer to the scene, the accident actually occurred on the outer loop prior to route 50. the closer you get, the better things look. you can get by using the two right lanes. and traffic can use the right shoulder. outer loop in montgomery county, looking not too bad this morning, maybe because folks are tied up in prince george's county. 95 northbound in virginia, you're going to find stretches

of heavy traffic from dale city to springfield. main lanes rough off and on. 395 looks okay. 66 heavy here leaving route 50 fair oaks. that's a check of your fox 5 on- time traffic. more for drivers now. avoid the beltway around the telegraph road interchange this weekend if you can. starting tonight through monday morning, telegraph will be closed north and southbound between the beltway and duke street for bridge demolition. major work going on there. several ramps on the beltway will be closed in that area. and staying on the roads, a major one that cuts through our region will be under a watchful eye this weekend. police in pennsylvania, maryland, virginia, and north carolina are beefing up enforcement on route 15. it is called operation border to border. here's the deal, 15 runs through frederick county, maryland, and loudoun county, virginia, in our area. three deadly crashes on 15 in

a maryland man accused of murdering his roommate and eating parts of his body is facing a new charge. a grand jury has indicted the 21-year-old on an attempted murder charge for an tack of a separate victim. he's accused of hitting a woman on the head with a baseball bat and knocking that person out days before he allegedly killed his roommate. nine people in virginia are recovering this morning after high carbon monoxide levels were found in an apartment complex in fairfax county. fire officials believe the gas may have come from a faulty stove. residents complained of headaches, but all of them are expected to be all right. later this morning an american air force pilot shot down during the vietnam war in 1966 will be buried at arlington national cemetery. the remains of lieutenant colonel charles walling were found in 2010 and were recently identified. about 100 family and friends

are in d.c. for his funeral set for 7:15. also will be an air force fly by in his honor. also honored the pilot of the cia spy plane. he'll be awarded a silver star. it's a late honor for powers who spent two years in a soviet prison before getting exchanged for a top spy. the military's most powerful weapon has oxygen problems and two members of congress saying new information from the air force shows the oxygen deficit is worse than first thought. 26 incidents of oxygen deprivation for every 1,000 hours of flying. the pentagon says it's getting close to identifying the cause of that problem. time now is 7:26. coming up right here on fox 5 morning news, a big series

delays on the outer loop of the beltway through prince george's county. and traffic from the bottom of pennsylvania avenue, rhode island avenue as you head inbound. i want to mention that we've got some metro delays expected this weekend. plan an extra up to 20 minutes because of traffic work that we'll be experiencing on the blue, orange, yellow and red lines from 10:00 p.m. tonight till close on sunday. marion berry says the d.c. council has turned itself into a laughing stock and one of his colleagues was driven to tears wednesday, when they picked an interim chairman who replaces kwame brown. joining us with a look at what the heck is going on with the council, tim craig who reports on d.c. politics for the "washington post." tim, good to have you here. >> good morning, how are you? >> i'm good, thank you. let's talk about the council. seems like one black eye after another. some would say a big embarrassment. >> been going on two years.

and especially the last six months where you had two council members resign due to ethical scandal and problems. wednesday, this past wednesday was supposed to be the day the council tried to move beyond that. they were electing a new chairman, a new leader and try to restart their image, start off again fresh. what happened instead, they got in this horrific battle -- >> it was ugly. >> it was very ugly. i've been following the council more than three years now, and that's the worst i've seen it in anger and hostility. making mocking comments, trying to tear down their political opponent. i think a lot of people were distressed about the direction the council is moving. >> let's talk about what went on wednesday. we have some sound ready to go. the first piece of sound is vincent orange, he was really making a play, a, for chairman. didn't get that. then he went for pro tem, going after michael brown. let's roll that if we can. >> i'm the best. i'm the best.

today, vincent bernard orange, senior, is the best candidate for chairman pro tem. the best. >> now on the surface, that doesn't sound bad. but part of what happened, he held up an article and went on the attack against michael brown, didn't he? >> he was pounding his hand on the desk and he really was raising his voice in a pretty, you know, it was a politically hostile exchange with brown. orange argues he's better suited for the job and says brown has had past problems with ethics and with paying his bills and taxes on time. >> but was this the forum to point this out? if it's at a time when the council is trying to move past the so-called black eyes, what did you make of that? >> i think what a lot of council members would have preferred, this be done behind closed doors and you come to a

consensus and you come out for the public and this is how we're moving forward. this is how it's done in other venues. this time it was a public display and battle that i think a lot of business leaders wondered what kind of image is this sending about the district of columbia? >> let's move on to marion berry. no stranger to d.c. politics. let's roll some of his comments. >> this has been the most serious governmental crisis, most serious and shut downs and everything else. the only thing i can think of that's more serious than this, was 9/11. >> that comment made headlines, that's for sure. >> yeah. i'm not sure what mr. berry was thinking. pretty rough time for the district. but we've had plenty of other -- pretty rough times in the city government in politics. at least one which, he was

directly responsible for. >> this brings me to my next question, first of all, covering d.c. politics, i guess you're never surprised what comes out of his mouth. what you see is what you get. and perhaps it's one of the reasons he's embraced by his constituents. jack evans had choice words for mr. berry. >> if anyone was here during the vista hotel type situation, you would see a turbulent time. >> jack evans reminding us of a rather dark past. >> yes, and mr. evans went on to mention a few others as well. i think that shows the personal nature the debate took on wednesday, is that really members didn't hold much back. they were going after each other in a personal political battle. with an election looming for chairman in november, can they pivot to a more stable environment, or is this going to accelerate from now until the election? mr.orange may be running for chairman in the fall.

at national harbor. at 11:15 this morning the developer here, the peterson company says it will be holding a press conference with what it called a major international hospitality and gaming company, and that it would be making a significant announcement about a resort casino here at the national harbor. the proposed casino would sit on the plateau at national harbor. state lawmakers would have to approve a 6th casino in the state and table gambling. but governor o'malley has said he would call a special session on gambling in july if lawmakers had a consensus. mgm says the region offers millions of potential customers and is watching the developments closely. voters would have to give their vote in november and support is mixed. >> bringing money to the county, if it's helping out the students and education towards the kids of prince george's

sandusky sex abuse trial has the day off. but monday lawyers for the former penn state football coach will begin their defense. the prosecution rested its case yesterday, after calling three more accusers to the stand. one alleged victim says he screamed for help while sandusky raped him in a basement. but he says his cries for help went unanswered by sandusky's wife who was home the entire time. police in prince george's county need your help finding a man they say sexually assaulted a teenager in temple hills tuesday. here's what he might look like. police say he forced two sisters in a wooded area at gunpoint and assaulted the 15- year-old. the victim's older sister fought bath and the suspect took off. last seen around 11:00 near easy street and kingston drive. the fbi launched a campaign

is up and down to assign arrows, i think romney is up. first of all, the fundamentals of the economy, unemployment, 8.2%. only 69,000 jobs created last month. kind of a shaky rollout for the campaign. unforced error, the private sector is doing fine. meanwhile romney seems to have found his footing. again, going to be a close race until november. but now i think romney, the challenger, doing a little bit better than the president. we'll talk about all of that sunday. we'll also talk about the national security leaks and the demand for an investigation to that. we'll talk to a former cia director, as well as the chairman of the homeland security committee, joe lieberman. gets to the famous question, this the 40th anniversary of watergate, what did the president know? >> those two attorneys

he suffers with this on a daily basis. he wants justice and justice for him in order to be satisfied is the death penalty, as you will find out in our program later tonight. had a tough life. also our crew went out to idaho who talked to george stratten, joined the army at the age of 18, and the amount of trauma this man has gone through, allison, it will really rock your world. the stack of medical files he has for appointments and prescriptions that he has been given just to get through day- to-day. it really tugs your heart out. but again, the reason they're talking is very specific. they want to make sure there is no one else in the u.s. army or u.s. military for that matter who has to experience what they experienced. they were shot by someone wearing the same uniform as they did. they expected this perhaps in afghanistan where they were soon to be deployed or perhaps

created by officer arthur douglas and assistant chief grooms of the police department. they thought by reaching out to the underserved communities we could provide for the community homeland security, health and human services, humane society. it's a day of entertainment and reaching out to the community to serve the community and save lives, that is the key thing. we found the numbers of deaths and suicides and things of that sort in the city were growing. but now with this program, we see people come out and they get touched by what's happening. >> you're taking the arts into many of the wards in the city, right, six different wards? >> six different wards. >> you set up at rec centers? >> in the streets. in the middle of the streets. >> okay. >> our next event is this evening from 3:00 to 7:00. we'll be at 14 #th and saratoga

champions? >> it feels good. i'm proud. feels good. now i move to the u.s. and good to be here. >> reporter: how did you get started in racing? >> my dad used to race, my brother. older than me, 28 years old, and i'm 22. >> reporter: i'm sorry, what did you say? i got lost in your accent. it's so beautiful. when someone is interested in a sport like this, how does somebody take their career further? >> i have to say it depends on the parents, too. if they want it, it makes things easier. but a lot of people, a lot of kids have a lot of potential, but their parents are not behind it. i think that makes a big difference, and once everybody agrees with riding, i think it comes. have fun and going from there. >> reporter: how often are you riding and practicing? >> there's a difference in winter time, offseason, you practice and ride more. now in the season, you

basically ride one to two times. and also other training like cycling and running. >> reporter: real quickly, i want to talk about your biking gear. how much does this bike weigh? it's got to be tough, because you have to control it and you're leaping in the air. how much does this weigh? >> this bike weighs couple hundred pounds. little bit over. actually, because of the engines, it's not like a bicycle. they're really light. totally different thing. easy to ride for us. i think a lot of people, you know, they can handle it pretty good. yeah, that is important also, good race gear. >> reporter: what also is important is the race gear. let's talk about what marvin has on now. >> pretty much every rider, we start off with boots. we have boots for saving the ankles and everything. they're really stiff. pretty much every rider has to have them. it's really important. then we have the knee braces for your knees right here.

of course we have the pants for that. and underneath the jersey we have a chest protecter here. >> reporter: i noticed that. this is like a mesh, ventilated? >> yeah. it's plastic. there's a lot of different materials you can get. some of the racers get really hot. some people have the neck brace there. i don't. depends what you feel comfortable with. and of course we ride with the helmet, goggles and gloves. >> reporter: it's really safe, unless you fall off, right? >> yeah. i mean, safety is important. what is safe? everything is kind of dangerous. walk over the street, and you're like, trip over something. >> reporter: but you love it? >> yeah, i mean, you need a lot of luck, too. it's crazy, and i think that's the kick. i really like it and i think a lot of people like it too. >> reporter: you are some of
