after. rg3 has revolutionized not just this city, but the nfl as a whole. they have made big time changes. when you see success with the players, it translates to the coaching staff. as rg3 keeps improving on that knee, the system run by the shanahans, and specifically kyle, who is in his third season as offensive coordinator, teams are now starting, you're hearing his name mentioned with a lot of job openings. seven head coaches were fired already, so there is a lot of talk. will mike shanahan allow kyle to interview in kyle addressed the situation yesterday after practice. >> yeah, definitely. i mean, i think every coach in the nfl, i think that's all of our goals. everybody wants an opportunity to be a head coach. i really hope some day i get that opportunity, and very flattering to be mentioned for it now. i didn't know that until i read it, and it's not something i'm

stabbing that happened earlier this morning. a city cabdriver was stabbed before 7:00 in the 500 block of kenyan street. the suspect then took off in the driver's car. they are looking for a 50-year- old male suspect who could be driving a black taxi cab. the cab is from a company called pearl, and the number of the cab is 194. d.c. tags, 01939h. if you see it. no word on the condition of the driver. police in woodbridge, virginia need your help finding this missing 15-year-old girl. her family says she was last seen on december 26th. she is 5'7", weighs about 135 pounds. she is a freshman at freedom high school in woodbridge. her name is megan knight. ears pierced and no tattoos. if you have information, contact police, 703-792-6500.

prince william county officer chris yung will be laid rest today. he died when his motorcycle collided with a van monday afternoon. investigators say he was heading to the scene of another accident with his lights and sirens on when a van turned left in front of him. officer yung's funeral is this morning at 10:00 in woodbridge. the service is open to county employees. a virginia man remains behind bars after his scheduled release from prison was revoked by a federal appeals court. >> fox 5's lauren demarco has been following this story all morning long and joins us live from the newsroom now with the latest. good morning. >> good morning, tony. a lot of back and forth over the fate of 31-year-old justin wolfe. much of it coming down to the wire. wolfe was convicted in 2001 and has been facing death penalty charges at one point for his part in arranging the murder of

his marijuana supplier. it was overturned in 2001 by a judge who said prosecutors withheld crucial testimony. he was ordered retried. last week the judge ordered wolfe released by 5:00 p.m. yesterday. an hour before that, the court of appeals halted the order. this morning wolfe is in jail. his lawyers say they are optimistic. >> we would have preferred for it to not have been stayed, but we have every reason to be hopeful. we believe the order was correct and we're confident that that ultimately will be the decision of the court of appeals as well. >> the victim was shot outside his town house in virginia in 2001. the man convicted of pulling the trigger testified as part

of a plea deal that wolfe paid him for the murder, but he's since changed the story several tiles. the victim's father believes wolfe played a role in the killing of his son. in an interview with fox 5 over the phone, he told us -- >> he says he does not condone his son's activities from 11 years ago, but he feels in time dan junior would have taken a different path. the court of appeals will hear arguments in his case later this month. tony, back up to you. thank you very much. two maryland women are victims of a deadly car crash in jamaica. we've learned 53-year-old claudette grand and 34-year-old vanessa brown were killed wednesday when their car crashed into a mini bus. a third person in the car was killed, and others injured. witnesses say the driver of the car swerved into the path of the bus.

in newtown, connecticut, families who lost loved ones in last month's deadly shooting are expected to meet with former congresswoman gabrielle giffords. the meeting will take place at a private home. the former arizona representative received a shooting you'll remember two years ago at a campaign event. now she advocates for tougher gun laws. new monthly jobless numbers this morning. the december unemployment report is just out, and it shows employers added about 155,000 jobs just over the average of 153,000 a month last year. but the nation's jobless rate remains at 7.8%. up on capitol hill this morning the house is voting on extending national flood insurance to victims of superstorm sandy. it devestated parts of the east coast causing an estimated $50

the redskins have worked their magic on igniting a new sense of pride in the team. >> many long timers will tell you they've seen their kids become super fans this season alone. our dave ross is back with a closer look at what's call it the rebirth of the redskins. >> i think that's a good way to describe it. that's exactly what we are seeing, a rebirth in the district and beyond. we are talking about a cultural change thanks to robert griffin iii and the redskins. helping us to breaking this down, matt winkler. if you're 21 years of age, that's the last time the redskins won a super bowl, you know nothing about really winning playoff football. are you seeing this at georgetown university, kids today are finally going, wow, this is the team my dad told me

about? >> sure. we sort of lost a generation of local fans due to the lack of success and so sometimes when you say, oh, i grew up on championships, makes you feel pretty old. >> yeah, sure. >> it's never been more exciting to be a sports fan in washington as well, and obviously the redskins are what we go on. such a long tradition. they are a fabric of the community here. >> let's talk about robert griffin iii specifically, matt, because we talk about national endorsements, we talk about before he ever stepped foot in d.c. being a primetime performer on a national stage. are you seeing that the cultural difference he's making, it's not just what he does on the field but also off of it? >> sure. in this day and age, it's winning, and this guy is doing it. after that, you have to talk about the multiple screens he affects. he's on television, he's on your laptop, he's on your tablet, he's on your smartphone. and the thought of a 10-year-

championship years 30 years ago with a bunch of our teams in this area. you have a couple of identifiable people. get to know them very well. they're very humble. very compelling. and obviously they're successful as well. those are two of the top players in the nfl. not just rookies. >> right. >> so growing up, you can certainly attach yourself to understand that hey, i might grow up with these guys as champions. >> that, also with the nats and they're coming up and hoping we get hockey back into play soon, do you see this as something that could be sustained for the next generation? >> i think we could be going into a golden era. as a local sports fan, that's very, very exciting. and also i think it's something we've lost in the last 15, 20 years, is that general sense that, you know, you go to games, you sometimes have championship parades. and again, that killer app is winning. certainly, this area could use

for most people, facebook is a place to share photos and connect with friends. for one oregon teen it's the source of major trouble. portland police say the 18-year- old posted this message -- the teen, jacob cox-brown was arrested shortly after the post thanks to two of his friend who saw the message and alerted police. brown was not charged with drunk driving because police did not interview him until hours after the facebook post and that alone is not enough to

prove he was actually drunk. you may soon notice new places open for business in the district. in the coming weeks four medical marijuana companies will be able to legally supply the drug in the city. the move was actually approved by 69% of the voters 15 years ago. but it was delayed over congressional concerns and the need for tighter restrictions. now you will only be able to get the drug if you live in the district, have a doctor's note and have any of the qualifying conditions such as glaucoma, hiv, aids, cancer, or multiple sclerosis. it will be unthe eye of the d.c. department of health. montgomery county elementary school is bursting at the seams. parents and kids at arcola school demanded action at a meeting last night. they have two portable classrooms and two more on the

gas, especially gas, don't want to turn on every burner and try to throw a flame to it. most common thing, people trying to conquer the thing more than they can. people pounding a few drinks back and thinking, i can handle that. we see a lot of burns. and at the stadium oftentimes we've seen folks when they put it out, don't put it all the way out, and put it in the bag and the bag catches fire. i've seen cars ignite before because they put the grill underneath their car. don't have the car coals fully out. >> clearly that's an issue. but not an issue here today. we have the professionals here. you've been making chili for us. i got to tell you, this is amazing, the amount of ingredients it has in here. sausage, pork. >> ground beef and our pork and hot linked custom blend sausage. peppers, onions, spices, cheese

we wear the ear pieces. >> right. >> that's what we do. do they do the same thing? >> it's a great question. you'll see them sometimes, the quarterbacks, go in like this to their ears. they're not cold. they're listening. there's a head set device where they can talk to the offensive coordinator to get the play. here's the thing, they're going to turn that off before the play clock expires. they can't go up to the line of scrimmage and say, we got two safeties here, switch the play. they have to cut it off i believe with 10 seconds to go. >> what they hear 10 seconds out, it's what they're going to do? >> yeah. they're calling the play at the beginning, and they have a certain amount of time before it goes dead in their ear and they can't hear anything else. the other thing is very interesting, let's that the head set goes out, if it goes out for one team, they will cancel it for the other team as well. so there's no built in advantage. if rg3 can't get the play from

couple of unique things about it is it's got a storage compartment normally where the gas tank is. will hold a full face helmet. go on a ride, you can drop your helmet in there. fuel fills unthe tank. not going to win any races, but it's a really nice motorcycle. >> reporter: is this a good starter bike? >> it would be. they make an automatic version, so you don't have to worry about a clutch or shifter. >> reporter: even better starter bike. >> yeah. just brakes, go and stop. >> reporter: this is not going to win races, but we have a race ready to go on behind us. we're going to check in with danny and tyler. good morning, gang. >> good morning. >> good morning. >> reporter: who is going to tell me about the pit stop challenge? >> i will. i'll volunteer. it's a simulation of the daytona pit stop. contestants changing out the rear tire of a sports bike. if you can break our -- >> record. >> our record.
