has killed 18 people and injured three others. a hot air balloon caught fire and crashed into a sugar cane field. the victims are from france, britain, japan and hong kong. three survivors were taken to a local hospital and it is one of the worst accidents involving tourists in egypt. also new this morning, the u.s. supreme court takes up the question of dn actual sam peopling to help involve crimes. the justices will hear arguments from maryland officials who want police to be allowed to take dna samples from people who have been arrested but not convicted. twenty-eight states and the federal government already do this type of sampling. privacy advocates claim this is unconstitutional. the justices will make a final decision in the case later this year. also in this morning's top stories, hundreds of concerned parents and residents in prince george's county are coming together calling for an end to violence they say is killing their children. a meeting was hosted by radio one last night calling it a state of emergency. it comes after six prince george's county school students

the number of teens dying behind the wheel had been dropping for decades. a new report shows deaths of teen drivers are rising. deaths of 16 and 17-year-old drivers were up 19% compared to the year before. there were 107 drivers aged 16 who died between january and june. that compares with 86 killed in the first half of 2011. for 17-year-olds, 133 died in the first half of last year. 116 were killed in the first six months of 2011. dr. c. everett koop passed away at his home in nam ma'am. the former u.s. surge ongeneral became a household name with his ain't-smoking crusade but he also spoke out on controversial issues like

abortion, drugs and aids. >> people with aids need a helping hand, reading, running errands, the little everyday things that we take for granted become almost impossible to do. >> that is dr. koop in a psa with actor johnny depp and then assistant secretary of health back in 1988. koop served as president reagan's surgeon general from 1981 to 1989. his nomination met a wall of opposition because of his conservative ruse but he is now remembered as a hero to aids activists. he was 96 years old. ikea says it is withdrawing its famous meatballs from stores in 21 countries overseas following reports that the meat could be contaminate. move comes after authorities in the czech republic detected horse dna in packs ever the frozen meatballs. ikea said it has not made its way to any stores in the u.s.

as well. out to the west, along the front of the appalachians there as you get out towards washington county and out into western maryland and parts of northern virginia and west virginia, we could be dealing with a wintry mix later this morning, early this afternoon. here along the 95 corridor, if you are in southern maryland, washington, up towards columbia and baltimore, it will just be rain for us. the further west you get, the better chance you will be dealing with that wintry mix. you get a wintry mix, just plain old blizzard conditions back into oklahoma this morning. 40-mile an hour winds there. all the way up to chicago where there will be likely travel issues. reminds me of a bowl of fruit loops. i don't know why. your winter weather advisory, your counties in purple includes front royal, winchester, hagerstown, you have that winter weather

advisory. the winter storm warning, we mentioned garrett county has closed schools. they are guaranteed a periods of freezing rain and sleet. that will be the primary issue out to the west today. cloudy skies, rain, sleet developing. might be a few sleet pellets locally and quickly transitions to rain. 45 your daytime high so chilly rain this afternoon. 42 tonight, rain early. not going to cool off a whole lot overnight. winds will pick up out of the east at 10 to 15. and wednesday and thursday don't look great. might be a little sunshine both days with a few showers around and we'll get the sun back by the end of the week but we'll also cool temperatures down into the low 40s by the end of the weekend. let's find out what is going on with the roads. i think julie has been busy as well. >> we've had a left activity on the inner loop of the beltway south of the bw parkway. that is where earlier this morning, we had the crash south of the bw parkway involving the overturned tractor-trailer. it was overturned on its side and it took out about 100 feet of the sound barrier wall. now, we are being told that the
