kenny wilkins was a part of thee special training session last summer with fema and as you were with him is when superstorm sandy hit.nd two months ofy that and you goto to see firsthand the response rs and what was used. what were the lessons learned? >> there were a lot of lessons learned from hurricane, superstorm sandy. sa one of those is being prepared. we need to be prepared all thera time for the impending weather. though we're not in tornado tor alley like they were in oklahoma we want to be prepared for the storms coming. we're going to have hurricanes happen in this area. we urge the customers to be prepared for this storm. prepared with a go kit and contingency plan for the family. where are you going to do? what are you going to do. >> as we watch people work here. it's calm today which is good. how does dominion, virginia go o about getting ready for storm

season. >> it's a three day drill thatht we good live and do everything just as if the storm had impacted our area. are so we prepare, we send out messages to the state eoc, the emergency operations center for the state. we prepare customers and ourselves. we do mute call aid calls to make sure we know the process we're going to do to get crews here when we need them. >> i was thinking about your time spent with fema. that storm was forecast.ecas everyone knew it was coming. it was in the a surprise yet still people weren't ready. is it the age-old, i never think it's going to happen to me we weathered this and that storm. sandy was such a magnitude thatd it impacted an area not normally impacted that heavy. people were not prepared for that. the time that i spent there at fema i'm deeply appreciative of

or drink? now you know how the d.c. charter schools feel.eel. a study released found that d.c. charter schools per pupil pup funding in 2011 was $13,000 lower than traditional public schools. among the schools study denver, l.a., milwaukee and new york the per pupil funding gap was the largest in the district. they say it be equal for both b sets of students but what tilts the scales unfairly is the fact that they also receive funding f for operations and facilities. but there's good news, the gap is being narrowed. for years the charter schools s had longed for more space to grow. they didn't understand why thers district wouldn't allow the charters to occupy some of the schools that were closed due to low enrollments. maybe grair announced monday that 16 former d.c. public school buildings will be made available to charter schools and community organizations.
