7:09 am
we will have the option of buying health insurance, and the final decision is to lock federal employees out of their jobs, i'm standing in total amazement that would be the the decision that the members thehat house of representatives wouldud be making today. >> do you view what is being said by the variousous representatives and senators ass political posturing? >> yes, it clearly is political postering. people want to feel secure when they get on airplanes, they want the screening that tsa provides, people want the borders, this country to be safe, and theyth want food to be inspected and federal healthcare and veterans benefits. >> what has the union been doin to talk to members or brace members or have their voices heard. >> we clearly have been doing ao great deal of interaction withan our on membership.ou we are preparing to do rallies,

7:12 am
that is not a great deal of money. they are struggling to make endn meet. had their pay frozen for three years, they have been furloughed six days this year. they have lost a week and a day of pay, they are already behind on their bills, they are janitors in government buildtions, they are nursing assistants in military hospitalp right now caring for wounded. sure we represent higher gradedd employee, but if you wouldd average it out, most of them are making between 35 and $40,000 a0 year, and now to put them out of work or require them to go too work, but yet not pay them on pay day. >> i said, is that even legal to do that? >> we do not believe that is legal. we believe that you have to authorized a budget for the federal government and withoutwo the authorization of a government we do not believe any money to expanded essential or nonessential. >> would you advice your nebz t

republican's attack on the affordable care act, as hypocrite al.h i was wondering, i didn't know much about this.is. >> antonio, a lot of people dope not know this. the republican budget that passed the house of representatives, relies on bigon parts of obama care in order onn to come into balance.ba so here they are riding around the country saying defund obama care, get rid of obama care, but in the budget in which almostmo every republican voted for, they have big components of obama care. they keep the medicare savings. you remember it was going to be the end of medicare. it was a scare tactic.are in fact, they kept the savingsh in their budget. they complain about the obamaob care tax revenue, but in their budget they have the exact same level of revenue as is generated by at fordable car the affordab.
7:22 am
if you were to repeal obama care, thinker budget would not be -- their budget would not be in the balance that they claim it is. it is hypocritical, where they h say we are going to get rid of obama care and on the other para present a budget that relies heavily on obama care. there's another piece, the ryan-republican plan for medicare is designed very much like obama care. they want to take people who are in medicare and put them into a medicare exchange program.ex if youch are wasn't millions of uninsured people that is going to benefit from the affordable care act. the affordable care act is a big step up. but if you are on medicare and n you had guaranteed coverage, ite would not be a step up to go go into an exchange with a premium support or a voucher. the great irony here is that the republicans are proposing an an obama care plan for people whowh already have medicare, but
