this is fox5 local news at 10. good evening, everyone, thanks a for joining us tonight, i'm matm ackland. lauren has the evening off.ff tonight, right off the top, top breaking news out of arlington county, a bomb threat has forced the evacuation sheriff's department and the 911 call ca center, this is the building that received the bomb threat earlier h this evening. right now i'm told that the bomt squad is inside doing a sweep op that building. but let me bring in ashley in satisfy age. shes the spokesperson for the arlington county police co department.. i understand you caught this threat via phone call. ca tell me about that and what hast happened since. si >> correct, at 6:30 p.m. our

emergency communications center received a call. they did not speak to a live person. they did tell us there was a was bomb located within the headquarters. at that time k9s did enter the h building. they did did a sweep of the the building and received a re preliminary hit. that meant that the bomb squad o was called out and arlington county fire department is end entering the building to investigate further. let me step out of the way so you can take a look at the live picture. i understand that a small section of courthouse and a small section of 14th are both t to foot traffic and vehicle¿ also, but explain to me why nony of these residential buildingse or businesses havesi been evacuated. >> at this point we haven't had credible information to inform n us that we need to do any further closures in the area. ae there is an ongoing investigation. if anything further advises thaa we need to we'll put in place more closures. you also told me that when the k9 initially got a preliminary r hit on something in a bathroom

threat has forced the evacuatioa of the county's police headquarters. fox5's alexandra limon is livele there with more. alex, what have you learned? >>reporter: matt, that's rightt the arlington county policeoun headquarter building was evacuated around 6:30 this:30 evening when the department sait they got an automated phone calo that was ama bomb threat. let me have you take a look atat the police activity that's out u here since they received thateci call i'm told that the k9 units went in and did a sweep of the building which was evacuated and it houses the arlington county police department, also anartm office for the sheriff's office and the 911 call center.ente the k9 unit got a positive hit in a bathroom on the first flooo of that building. that's an area that is accessible to the public. because of that, the bomb squad has gone in to do another sweep. let me explain. the positive hit does not meanen that there is necessarily a boma in that building. it just means that something was

we've got 37 at hagerstown and frederick. same at winchester and 36-degrees to the west in cumberland. now, here's a look at thet national map.map. it's a pretty good indication oi a dividing line for the cold artic air. take a look. here we go to the north. we have temperatures there at minus and single digits. then we run into some 20s and0s low 30s and then we have us into the 30s and the whose. but this is what is going tooing settle in and move down across the mid atlantic all because off the jetstream sinking to the sot of us and letting the artic air in. for tomorrow we're going to see a few clouds. as i said, can't rule out a quick passing snow shower because of this system as it moves its way up and we see some of the colder air kicking in. that's what the possibility isos for maybe a passing snow showerw or owe.or primarily across the south. the colder air will build in. north westerly winds will build some. we will see a little bit ofof
