snow removal crews are continuing to work non stop too clear the roads and streets of o snow. but a lot of work is still left. most of you can just open your u door and see that, especially on the side streets. mayor bowser says government offices and schools will not open tomorrow so they can really focus on these areas, especially parking lots before the people in the cars return. fox5's matt ackland joins us life from dupont circle with the very latest. matt, i guess life getting back to normal, but very, very slowlo for all of us. >> very slowly and i think it'ss going to be a couple of daysays before we get fully back to normal. tonight mayor bowser and some of her staff have been tweeting about some of the activity thata is going on, she said that this clearing of roadways will continue 24/7 until it is done. in can pennsylvania, she posteds some pictures off of alabama a avenue of crews all the way from boost ton helping clear off the road. already, though, will and lauren i have been hearing from constituents out there, people texting me saying hey whyhy

> have fun out there. >> we can smile together. > alex, life in manassas, thanks. let's move to maryland, to prince george's county, roade' crews are making steady progress. fox5's ron contact clearly islyi giving us a closer look at thatt >>reporter: i'm clear in laughing in prince george'sn pr county and we have been covering the entire county since the start of the storm on friday afternoon. officials had a press conference earlier today where they talkedy about managing the storm nowrm n that the snow has stopped. s they took on the main roads first. that was their first priority. i understand that in prince george's county they have about 1900 milesth of road that they need to plow. now, ideally plowing in residential areas for the most part can start about 24 hours4 h after the end of the snow evente we were here last night at about 11:30 when the snow seemed to be tapering down. d the goal is to plow those -- ala of those residential roads overnight and into tomorrow. and as a remainer, schools are

trucks going in and out of this parking lot next to rfk stadium. i've seen dump trucks from upstate new york, from long elan. i've talked to a group from boston that was down here. all they wanted to ask about was the patriots game. gam i had to deliver the bad news to them. at about 6:00 it started earlier in the day with about 10 crews. and then it ramped up to 25 crews. that was at about 6:00. they are going to add more crews.crew once all this melts what happens with what is on the snow as we are on the banks of the anacostia and tommy wells, the director of the doee and talked about the precautions that they have taken to make sure that none of the silt gets into the water. >> my team is working with the department of transportation,

he really thanked the people off virginia from staying off the roads. tonight we're starting to see a few more people out. for the most part they are pretty emptyp and the result is a good one. oe the crews are able to get through. we can see pavement there. the govern says he flew over the state, that every part of theevr take it was impacted. i this is going to be the most expensive snow event the state has ever seen. right now they're spending 2 to $3 million an hour on cleanup. while secondary roads are stilli a mess. they pile up all of this six to dep feet or more.re. these are the sides walks kids are supposed to use to walk to school. the issue where do you take it. they've already figured out in d.c. here in virginia they're lookinl at county parks and fields where they'll be able to deposit. d this is a big under taking. t the govern says this is going tt take quite a while.hile here's what he had to say. our big concern with our schools

is sidewalks. we flu over am school parking lots. they're not plowed.t in fact, we planned landed here, we were coming down as the depot for the school buses they're all under two, three feet of snow. so it's going to take time to deal with that issue to get the buses and to get the sidewalks. we have a lot of walkers who who walk to school. they can't do that right now obviously. we're getting the roads open. this was a major storm and we're doing everything we possiblyossi can, but we're hitting it hard. these piles of snow presentrese other problems as well. we're expecting rain on tuesday. that could cause all of this to melt a little bit. then refreeze. ref so big challenges here. her the emergency operations centere in fairfax county was activatedt at noon on friday. at this point they're going to o stay up and running they say through wednesday because theree are so am issues that they need to deal with and other ways this could still go. go. so they say at this point likeie the mess aiming you're hearing h

measured the snow in their yards. we got some totals that came in through the national service as well. > the national zoo and we saw the giant panda out there having a great ball in the snowfall. 22.4 inches. in manassas, virginia they hit 29.5 inches, bethesda, maryland, 27 inches. in arlington, 25.8 inches and in college park, 20.2 inches.inch so quite a variance there in amm of our neighborhoods. nei temperatures, this is the story now. our highs today, 35-degrees at reagan national airport. a the same at dulles. 34 at bwi thurgood marshal and of course temperatures well bloo the seasonal average. we are going to see thesee temperatures pretty hang in thee range of the 30s when we move mv into tomorrow and right now that is the same story. but it is dropping rapidly. we have a light within and the e wind was very gusty in the lasts couple of days and producing
