that road is clear, right? looks good. well, take a look over on this side.de. this is a cul de sac, a issue l. these residents will tell you they have not seen a plow since this blizzard started. in fact, it got to the point where they got so fed up with no montgomery county trucks comingn through the neighborhoods that they took matters into their own hands and they started digging g this out themselves. t folks hearsay they have been doing this for years now. now this is just the latest example. they went to the county's website. what do they see? even though o this area was listed as in progress, there has not been any county trucks that have come through this area. are to make matters worse well they say that they went onto the treat to try to get some county trucks to come in here, waived trucks down, that till didn't work. they called 3 # # but to no avail. if they started digging themselves out they weren't

promising by 7:00 a.m. tomorrowt that every neighborhood inoo montgomery county will at least have a path plowed out of it. > you can do a very good job jb and you're still going to get complaints because there's always going to be someone firsf and there's always going to be someone last and if you're last, you're going to complain. well, now, while the county wass also receiving some criticism, c they were doling some out as well, too. we asked the county executive today, what he thought of how the state of maryland was handling the state roads in the county. the county executive told us hee didn't think they were doing very good. given the large volume and the number of roads that maryland has to cover, leg it says he's going to hold his fire right now and try to work with them to get those state roads cleared as well. we are life here in silver springs where this digout is dig still going on. tom fitzgerald, fox5 local news.

> so frustrating. f and a lot of fox5 viewers in prince george's county say theyn are also still stuck at home because their streets have not been plowed, either. fox5's chief executive reporterr emily miller has their story. >>reporter: in temple hills it seems the county just missedisse certain streets.reet so in this one street, they have been using pic axes and shovelsa just to do what the plows never did on their streets. neighbors on this street saw the plows come through this night, n but didn't turn into their cul de sac. >> you don't know why theyy didn't do your korner. >> no. did not train drivers probably. > the plows also missed brinedn l court on understood s.erst neighbors say they keep calling the county to come back.k. >> we had a doctor's appointment today and i called them, i asked could they send somebody down here and they said maybe last night, but they didn't get here last night. n we had to cancel out.

to clear their sidewalks. > mayor bowser says it'st's especially critical for everyone to remove the snow from the sidewalks now that kids are starting back to school tomorrow. > matt ackland is going to pick up from here. >>reporter: early this morningm we put something out on social media asking folks tell us where you are and if you haven't had d your streets plowed yet. t this location, here along 14th street right in this busy b area really surprised us.s. behind us there's a famous diplomat, well known, just twowo blocks away, p street that's where the whole foods is and then take a look at corcoan street yet. it appears it hasn't been touched at this point. it has residents upset. it's happening several placeslae across the city. the mayor said other and overve again today they're trying to to get to every street in the districts.di it's just taking time.

> the big digout still underway three nights after the snow stopped. drivers who are removing the snow are exhausted, but seem to be in good spirits. > fox5 viewers sent us these pictures of unplowed streets. some of them had even been touched. we asked loretta swan to grade the cleanup.eanu >> f. the ball was definitely dropped. i can't even drive out of here. > another problem, where do yor put all this snow? for exampleo it happenedw? in my neighborhood last night in northeast, we were excited to finally get the street out in front plowed. p it was a incorporate s l one way lane street, so it was low in the priority list. lis we were happy to get it done. d but look where they put all thee snow, on the freshly shoveled sidewalk. now there's a mound of snow and it's almost 6 feet high.igh. > we also asked mayor bowser to give the city a grade for the response to the storm.o th she avoided grading the performance saying this instead.

we're still recovering from a blizzard. everybody is working extra hard to get the job done.on i have been throughout the city, all 8 wards of the city and people are encouraged that we've washinged as we have. on top of the snow removal, the city faces other issues. we found this fire hydrant hyd knocked over likely hit by a snowplow and trash cans are beginning to overflow in some places. > we should say that we've talked to several people todayra and looked on social media.edia there are folks that are praising the city for doing thet best that they can. we have seen workers throughoutt the city today. also, when it comes to d.c. ps schools, you said earlier they're open, but we are told tl also that parents are going to have the ability to have it as an excused absent. exc if you don't want to send youror schools tomorrow, if you think the conditions are too dangerous, the absences will be excused. one point of clarification, the

doesn't go down until 5:22. 5 we worry is there going to be ice tomorrow morning. probably not tomorrow morning,om but we're not going to get the cold tonight. we have a couple of light rain showers that may dot the area ae and i think we'll see a few more of them later tonight. t do you see the batch that's tha coming up through warm springs and west of charlottesville? that will be around tonight. it's very light. l i did want to show you as we go through the night you might notice a little bit of that. maybe it briefly mixes with a little bit of snow here and there in the overnight hours. h i don't think it's a big deal. a it will actually help to keep us warmer tonight.er t we're not looking at a huge, hard refreeze.e. we think the temperatures will be 32 to about 34 downtown.own. maybe warmer than that south and east. what may be an issue is fog later tonight.. we had a lot of melt,, a lot of moisture in the air. the frontal boundary will be coming through.. i'll tell you what morning we might have a problem with a l lt

residents in arlington, they art really demanding some answers tonight because a toeing company has begun toeing out severaleral cars out of private lots. residents say they have no other place to park their vehicle also because the entire neighborhood is covered in snow. fox5's ronica clearry has more tonight. >>reporter: imagine coming homm after a weekend away excited that you missed the lizard onlyt to find that this is the currenr situation at your street.eet. well, that's exactly what happened to will kirk man, an arlington resident when he realized there would be no way for him to park here he decidedd to park down the street in a store parking lot, only to findf that his car was toed by 6:00 a.m. this morning. > we're in the middle of my street that's covered in a couple feet of snow. >> clearly no plows have comeom through since the storm. when will got home last night he didn't know where he could park.

so he decided to park in a nearby store parking lot. he admits that he did see the signs that warned those that t were not customers that theyhe would be toad for parking in the lot.lo considering the situation after the storm, he never figured he'd find his car toad. >> we went to move the car at 6:00 a.m. and it wasn't there. we couldn't believe that theyat would be toeing because there's literally nowhere else to park.p i reached out to advanced toeinn about the incident and they explained to me that the me shopping center had snow removal equipment dropped off that evening and the snow removal could not be completed with the cars in place. pla the company acknowledged thatha they are sympathetic to the frustrations of being toad, but were simply completing the job b they were hired to do. will explained it's not really r about blame, but he does feel extremely frustrated with a situation that has left him lef feeling like he has no parking options. >> i don't kneesly blame anybody, but it's just, you know, it just leave you

school is going back, expectxpec anen credible amount of involve on the votes. the morning commute going to be difficult, not because the weather, but because what the weather has produced over the past four days. luckily temperatures have been v so comfortable today. we got well into the 40s, 50 actually. it's 49 in washington, 55 in quantico, 54 in manassas whereaw they saw well over 2 feet of snow, 48 at dulles whereas sue told us there's still 20 much m ines on the ground, but days day like this are certainly helping. 43 in frederick, 50 in stevensville. going forward we do have a couple of showers on radar.adar these showers not going to do a whole lot when it comes to the melting. it will be more that the temperatures stay above freezing.eezi we'll try to show you theou evening planner and it shows you that temperatures will only be in the 30s, not even falling to freezing. that's going to provide us withw some relieve. we'll have a nice night where refreezing is not a problem. p come thursday morning that's a

showers around the region. let me take you to radar. not everybody is going to see this, but we're going to keepo some scattered, very light showers of rain, not snow in our evening forecast. you can see these scattered sca around the area mainly down to the south through facultativetie certificate queer county, culpeper county, but there is one that has developed through the reston area and maybe stretching into montgomeryng i county company. these are going to be veryco light, but don't want to take you by surprise. i guess we can think of it as free windshield solution as you're driving around and getting the splatter. this is all ahead of a frontal boundary and some of the moisture pushing in from west ws toward the northeast. here's the good news, it's not going to be terribly cold tonight. it will be maybe near 32 north and west to about 34-degrees ins the districts and maybe as warm as 40 or 41 down to our south and east. so no real hard refreeze. mr. could be an icy spot here s and there, but i think it would be pretty far to the north and

west as these light showers are passing through the area. a little l change up for tomorrow we do see another colda shot coming in. not necessarily in the morning, but as the day goes on things will get a little bit colder. most of the day tomorrow is dry, but again we are going to see t temperatures heading back into the 30s and a real cold start sa thursday morning and that's a morning in which i think we mayw have some problems with more widespread refreeze of anythingz that melts. i anticipate thursday morning to be a little bit icy around the region. we'll keep an eye on all of it and have a full weather report coming your way in just a few.. > developing a man a louisiana man is now in custody after an urgent search to find him. and dry and doug ill was in the washington area and had information that he threatenede to shoot people at the capital when the government reopened. paul wagner has been following the story now all day and joins us life. >>reporter: the man was only wanted to making threats, not a

crime reporters would normally pay too much attention to. t but one when the official with w the mayor's office called fox5 f and told us to put the man's picture on the air we started to dig a little deeper. this is what we now know. >> investigators were onto adrian dog l as soon as he threatened to shoot at the capital. the 36 year old's 19999 silver lincoln town car had pick up by law enforcement tag readers in r virginia and the districts. the bulletin said he was armed and dangerous and suffers from various mental health disorders. the bulletin specifically said he was waiting for thehe government to reopen after recovering from the snowstorm.r. early this morning in jessup, maryland he was found by howard county police and taken to aic hospital for a mental health evaluation. no charges were placed against hip, but a source familiar with the investigation said police

found unregistered ammunition id his car. the police chief at welsh, louisiana said they were lookine for him after he made threats t against people there andnd violated his probation. so it's still unclear why the mayor's office got involved in assisting police in getting the word out. a spokesman said police asked for the help. doug else spent a year in jail j on attempted first degree murder, a charge that was later dropped. paul wagner, fox5 local news. > scary moments earlier today in sand dig oh after reports of an active shooter at the naval medical center. military police went from room to room and led personnel out of building 26. after a person said they heard three gun shots in the basement this morning.this the navy said an initial inspection found no sign of a gunman or a shooting. three nearby schools were placed on lock down while officials investigated. the blizzard conditions did not slow down some thieves in prince

george's county.orge we heard about a break-in on capital heights strip mall.l. a number of businesses were vandalized and lost property. the thieves broke through walls and in some cases ceilings ofs o these businesses. a tobacco shop, a restaurant and several other stores were among those hit. > when i came back on sunday around 1:00, i open my front door, it was okay, the front doors but when i came inside i saw everything was falling. the atm was broke. they took like all the tobacco, vaporizers and some money was ws there in atm. > we're told the the thievesd took all the recording devices attached to the store's surveillance cameras. we reached out to prince george's county police and they say they're in the awarey of te break-in. > this man was busted in stafford county for robbing holiday inn express.

says 22 cents with a two upside down. my regular says 5.05. that's not what we're selling sl gas for and i've been out since friday night. > like a lot of gas stations you just heard marrow say he's on the out of gas. he's been out of gas sinceince friday night. on friday night he sold sol 8,000 gallons of gas.0 a the look of you were gassingga up. he believes he'll have gas for r you first thing in the morning. because of a power outage, his surveillance camera didn't capture who did this. t the only thing he got was peopll stopping and taking pictures. we're not behind any price gouging. he knew about it yesterday since about 10:00 a.m. but never got a chance to flip the numbers around. i think his kids eventually climbed up the snow mound to change them today.
