let's check in with shepherd smith. he joins us life from new york.r we know that donald trump andha hillary clinton are tht e big winners tonight. anything about how things are shaking out so far surprise youy >> not really. especially around your area and the state of virginia we as you guys have been watching the counties right around the sit particular, right around alexandria and beyond, and of course mark ohio rubio one those. the question was was he going to within big enough in the state of virginia right along the d.c. area in that highly congested very densely populated area, would the numbers be big enough for him to win in virginia and the early answer came and it was no. that was the donald trumpd territory. in were a couple of wins, ted cruz managed to win in his homee state, but that was it. he just held a press conferencen and said that his his the only campaign that's now able to beat donald trump. the question

will believe that and more importantly will anybody dropout. so far nobody has. with crews saying that andnd making the case for his campaign being the only one that has beaten and can beat trump we heard chris christie in introducing donald trump and say tonight is the night donald trump will begin to pull the republican party together. par is that likely? it doesn't seem like it to me. >> it's not the word we'rere getting. you know very well that some inn the republican party are suggesting out across the district across the country you can either win with donald trumo if you want or you can run as anti donald trump. in purple states and blue states where republicans are up for reelection there will be those and there are those that they will be running as an anti trump saying he is not what we want. we heard the speaker of the house, paul ryan talking about him. it's certainly a delivered divided party. one of the big questions is how

together. so far at least there's no signs of a strategy. we know you guys have been watching the exit polls. donald trump, people either seee to love him or hate him. based on the exit polls that you've seen that have come out tonight, where are peoplet, standing on this w.n >> i think the most interesting thing about the donald trump supporters is the way they stick with him no matter what. the vast majority of people, especially across the south, alabama, georgia, over into texas and tennessee, the ones who made up their minds more min than a month ago are vastly staying with him.stay the ones who made up their minds in more recent -- in the lastt couple of weeks, in some cases have moved to marco rube oh, buo we've also read in so many cases that the attack lines for mark row rubio, that he's a conman,m, he's dividing us, he can never work. some of those lines did not work, especially in the south and marco rubio has come in third place almost every where he had hoped to come in second.. it's not been a good night for

him. he's losing in double digits to donald trump in florida. he held a rally sayg it's good to be home in miami and he's sine using he'll stay in the sta raise until florida.e un you wonder where the path isth i after that. shepherd smith, chief anchor for fox news. thank you for talking with us.h we appreciate your insight. i >> of course. of > coming up next tonight, a veteran says he was fired fromas his job for trying to stop thieves for targeting his store. the ill-advised fashionablehion footwear that caused some problems at the airport. we're back after this.
