ever wonder what happens to the human body after that much time zero gravity. an expert breaks it down for u us. your news starts now. >> we do start with a developing story in fairfax county where details of a domestic dispute are early similar to another call that ended in a tragic loss. i'm tone top. >> i'm shawn yancy. >> it's the second time in i at mar of days that area officers came under fire during a domestic calling. prince william county police officer ashley guindon died saturday when responding to a call for help and two others hurt. marina morocco is here with the latest on tonight's shooting. >> thankfully we can report every person involved tonight walked out alive. but for these police officers it was a call that was just too close for comfort. you'll see behind me here in alexandria in this neighborhood the investigation continues internal affairs still here on the scene. but

call from resident inside this home and take a look at this video. you'll see that ultimately police officers were able to arrest him and he walked on his own two feet to the ambulance. he called and police believe that he was in some sort of emotional distress. once they arrived here police say he walked out the front door and fired at officers. thankfully officers were able to seek cover and they were not hit. and for about an hour they tried to negotiate with the man to surrender and he came back out with an assault rifle.

as for 19-year-old saad involved in tonight's shooting khars are still pending. live in alexandria, marine owe morocco, "fox5 local news". >> the body of ashley guindon the police officer killed in the line of duty last weekend alived in her home of massachusetts. hamilton is held without bail on capital murder charges. a family funeral for officer guindon is set for sunday. we're going to switch gears now. we want to take a look outside. spring is still just a few weeks away. and it is a cold night tonight. it seems there could be more snow in our future. will have impact on the friday morning commute. so let me get you started with a look at this storm. it's no repeat of the mrizard of 2016 and nothing going on in our area tonight. it's cold though. lot of places in the 20s to near 30. even here in the district it's 33. this is the system we're watching it's not a clipper and it is a facts-moving storm that grabbed a little pacific energy and will also pick up on a little gulf coast moisture as it moves in our direction and time frame i'm worried about is morning commute i think this could have enough slick spots around to have moderate impact any time snow is falling. bulk of this will fall overnight thursday night to friday morning. the biggest problem we have is that the timing of this is coming when we're at the coldest point and i think snow will fall during the morning rush. looks like heaviest snow this time once again south and east of d.c. maybe you got a few inches down there. most major highways will be okay. i think this will melt off of them and certainly chemicals will work wel

will work well at these temperatures. i bet we have two our delays on friday morning. tomorrow afternoon into the 40 40s. most of the day will be dry. later that's when we see the first snowflakes may mix with rain initially and changeover yikly to snow as area of low pressure gets to the coast where it appears as though it will get stronger and the reason you get heavier snow in the south and east because you're closer to that area of low pressure as it moves on over. last stop we'll show you future cast as it approaches our area tomorrow evening. and by 10:00 that's a good amount of snow we'll be seeing. a lot of that will melt as it falls on to the roadways but will stick to grassy areas and we take this forward 6 a.m. and we're still getting snow. in general this will be maybe 1 to 3" in some spots a little heavier down to south. so slushy start to friday morning. new information will come in throughout the hour and i'll share any updates with you as well as 7 day forecast which is warmer date of 20

now, our kids in our schools and we can't say it's them. so i think what's happening is the sense of i don't belong. >> springer was a junior cente centerville high school. and by most accounts she was looking forward to graduating next year. she was known for her again rossty and outgoing personality and even so, police say she was discovered inside her cente centerville home tuesday morning. now police went to the house after receiveing a report that a woman was dead. springer was reporterdly found by a friend who spent the night in fairfax county, death from heroin overdose have reportedly doubled in recent years. their deaths are preventable. >> we do not have enough trained counselors in our schools. we do not have enough trained counsellers in the counselty. if you would take every child who has a problem and mother discovers or father discovers a drug on them

"fox5 local news". >> "fox5" confirmed another lawsuit filed against prince george county schools relating to that disturbing case of child pornography. deonteo caroway faces more than a dozen federal charges of videotaping young children engaged in sex acts. many of those happening at sylvania woods elementary school. this latest lawsuit claims a 9 1/2-year-old victim told his fourth grade teacher about the abuse and she responded "i don't believe you, go sit down" board of education, superintendent and teacher are all names in that suit. >> the murders haunted a virginia college campus for years. today the

bedroom gram and morgan harrington heard jessie matthew admit to killing their daughters in court. gram ways university of virginia student that disappeared in 2014. harrington was a virginia tech student that vanished in 2009. in return, for his gultty plea, matthew has avoided the death penalty and will send it the wrist of his life in jail without parole. "fox5" paul wagner was inside the courtroom today and has more. >> just before 1:30 this afternoon jessie matthew one time charlottesville cab driver serving three life sentences for a fair fax rain was escorted into the courtroom by debilitys. he add hited to the judge he was responsible for two murders that terrified this college community and had residents and students on edge for years. the parents of morgan harrington and hannah gram made victim impact statements. parts of which they repeated outside. >> we draw considerable pride in all hannah achieved in her

short life and it was cut short by jessie man matthew. his evil deprived the world of a great tallen and her enduring gifts us to all she enabled this man to be apprehended and convicted and she changed the world at a terrible price. >> hannah's mother told the court she misses having tea on the couch. snuggling with her daughter that just returned to charlottesville for her second year. when she was abducted by matthew on september 13, 2014. surveillance video captured the two together near some downtown bars. video her father says the family will not soon forget. hannah's body was found five weeks later in a field outside town. >> it has been a long, a very long journey to this point. >> jill harrington and her husband fought day in and day out to keep their taught's memory alive from the day morgan was abducted in october of 2009 until her killing was caught. >> the community didn't give up

"fox5 local news". >> montgomery country police have arrested brother of a man who was found shot in both legs tuesday morning. james joseph frederick faces several charges including assault in connection with the incident near montgomery college in rockville. police say the two got into a fight and frederick shot his brother. the victim attempted to get away and was able to stp a motorist that drove him to a campus parking lot and then called police. >> gop presidential hopeful ben carson said today he sees no path forward in bid for republican presidential nomination. carson says he will not attend thursday gop debate net michigan and business manager says carson will no longer actively seek both. carson says senator ted cruz and marco rubio should drop out aer and clear the way forefront

after prince william county officer ashley guindon was killed responding to a call. lease in fairfax county say a high school student found dead in her home may have died from a drug overdose. and alexia springer was a junior at centerville high school in klitch top and grief and crisis counselors were brought in to help students and ben carson run for the white house appears to be over. today he said he sees no path forward in his bed for the republican presidential nomination. carson says he will not attend thursday's gop debate in michigan but has not officially withdrawn. carson finished no higher than fourth in any of the 11 super tuesday contest. . >> and delegation of congressional lawmakersen including eleanor holmes morton will travel to flint michigan tomorrow to assess the recent water crisis there. earlier tonight i talked with the woman about parallels between fript and d.c. water contamination issues in the early 2000s and president

and you're concerned about timing for that snow coming on in. this will be future cast model showing very latest information. you can see the spot there 8:0 8:00. we're beginning to see some of that activity move on in and by 9, 10, 11:00 tomorrow night we've got snowfall ago around the area and impact would likely be friday morning. here are the next two days. tomorrow, 43. chilly. we think any snow we see is after 8:00 and friday morning and most snow out of hereby 10:00 in the morning. we think if anything it's delays. even at 41 degrees we'll melt off a lot of it and you may recall that last year we had our biggest snow on march 5. district got almost five inches and dulles got 9.5 and we melted a lot of that off. cold tonight. 27 degrees for gauge rzburg and 33 for district and 32 winchester avenue 36 culpeper and winds better we have wind chill temperatures in the low to mid 20s. and i think winds will be better tomorrow. but overnight,

heading into the 20s for a very cold start on our thursday morning. and it is quiet. locally, the storm we're watching is beginning to race in our direction from central and northern flames. not expect todd get in here until later. we will have a bit of cold air supply with high pressure north guiding our storm system down to the south. and that's why we think we'll have mostly snow on grassy areas. this should not impact the roads too badly because they will be marginal for temperatures and accumulation. so a lot of melting going on there and maybe a rain, snow mix and this time we think perhaps some of the heavier snow maybe south and east and you see why here when i show you future cast. 10:00 tomorrow night much of the area getting snow. sticking to grass. and by 6:00 in the morning we're still getting snow. watch what happens as we go through the morning. at least earlier there was a pretty good band here we thought might pick up another inch or two more than the rest of us. generally what we're looking at in terms of accumulation
