right now at 10:00, friends and family gather in prince george's county to remember one of two victims fatally shot earlier this week. also voters in the district heading to the polls today to cast their vote in the dc republican primary. we'll tell you which candidate came out on top. and it was a sea of runners this morning as many took part in the annual rock and roll marathon.

more like a professional wrestling match. friday night's match-up between trump supporters and trump opponents was called off because of a forecast for more fii vens. then on saturday morning that prediction nearly came true. hours later in kansas city trump was unapologetic. >> get him out of here. get him out. i think they're bernie supporters. >> reporter: senator ted cruz is laying the blame for the outbreak of violence at the feet of trump. >> unlike donald trump i don't ask people in the audience to punch them in the face. >> reporter: florida's senator mar crow rubio was asked about his pledge to support the eventual republican nominee for president even if it's trump. >> the fact that you're even asking me that question, i still at this moment contin

intend to support the republican nominee, but getting harder every day. >> reporter: meanwhile hillary clinton started one of her rallies by taking aim directly at trump. >> the encouragement of violence and aggression is not only wrong, but dangerous. if you play with matches you can start a fire that you cannot control. that is not leadership. that is political arson. >> reporter: the next contests are on tuesday including the battle ground in ohio where clinton is trying to fight off bernie sanders. he's looking to build on momentum in the midwest after that big victory in michigan. meanwhile trump is trying to fight off two native son, ohio's john kasich as well as

rubio in florida. >> and voters in dc had their say. thousands lined up to vote in today's primary. about 4,000 people voted by this afternoon, about 6,000 people voted in the 2012 election. we are still awaiting the results from the primary and we will bring them to you just as soon as we get them. to wyoming now where republicans held their state caucus today. ted cruz was the big winner there. he won 66% of the vote. marco rubio came in second. he won one bell gate and donald trump was a distant third with 7%. he also won one delegate. coming up later in our broadcast we're going to have the latest on the democratic presidential race as the candidates get in some last-minute campaigning ahead of tuesday's big primary. back here at home a large crowd gathered tonight in prince george's county to remember one of the young victims killed in a shooting

it's a disturbing story of domestic violence that turned deadly. alexandra limon spoke with family members and friends tonight. >> reporter: this is an incredibly tragic story that ended with three people dead and neighbors say a five-year-old girl witnessed the murders of her mother and her aunt tonight family members and friends held a candle light vigil to mourn and to spread a message about domestic violence. >> i miss my baby. she was beautiful. >> reporter: friends and family gathered at suitland high school with hugs, tears and candles. they remembered a vibrant 22-year-old. she was a singer, a performer at heart. someone who dreamed o

famous. >> my baby was not a victim of domestic violence. i taught her to love herself first. if it doesn't feel right, it's not right and you move on. and she lived by that. >> reporter: although harris was not in an abusive relationship, she still died as a result of domestic violence. her half sister was in a troubled relationship with kevin reynolds. police say reynolds killed both women and then himself earlier this week in prince george's county. >> i feel. >> she helped bail him out o

let's check in with gwen who has the latest on our forecast. >> not a bad day at all. just some rain in the forecast. typical for this time of year. let's take a look at our maps and show you what i'm talking about. major system down to the south and i want to say that in the southern states along the gulf coast this system has caused an awful lot of major flooding issues and some pretty heavy storms but it's moving its way straight towards the mid atlantic and that's going to be our weather maker once we get into the overnight hours tonight and into tomorrow. closer look here at home, it's getting a little closer and nothing happening here right now. i don't anticipate seeing much until the early morning hours of sunday. here's a look at the highs for today. we hit temperatures into the 60s, a little cooler at bwi, other than that not too bad. temperatures continuing to be into the 60s over the next day or so before we start to see a warm-up. we've done fairly well. went from the 80s to the 70s and now the

closer to the seasonal average. up and down the mid atlantic and some cooler air settling in. that's what we'll be dealing with as we move into tomorrow. 54 degrees at dc, 56 at quantico. we've got 55 at culpeper this hour, the same at winchester, 52 at baltimore and 48 degrees at annapolis. it's a little cooler near the water. so 50 degrees is my overnight low. overcast, some fog. looking at late showers and i mean late in the overnight-early morning hours, actually. i don't anticipate much before then. maybe a little bit of drizzle, but other than that it won't start to pick up until we really get into sunday. but guess what? we've got eight more days until the official arrival of spring. so we're doing that countdown. i'll have more details a little later. back to you. >> and gwen, what do you have do tonight? >> oh, we have to go ahead. >> spring it forward. >> that's right.

>> i know. that doesn't sound very good. but you know what? more daylight. >> i'm looking for to that. i love it when it happens like that. see you in a bit. thank you so much. appreciate it. >> thousands of runners hit the pavement this morning for the fifth annual rock and roll dc marathon that went right by my neighborhood this morning. it all began on constitution avenue and when the full marathon was over, an olympian from guatamala was the big winner. he ran the race in two hours 12 minutes. martha nelson finished in just 2:58. congratulations to all of them. and we want to give a special shout-out to these guys.

they come from the district the associate press says marco rubio has won the republican primary in the city. 19 delegates are at steak. this -- stake. this is rubio's third win. he also won minnesota and puerto rico. police are looking for a man who tried to rob a bank in northwest. this all went down yesterday at the union bank on k street northwest. investigators say a man walked into the bank and demanded money from a worker inside. when the employee returned the man was gone. police want to hear from uh-uh may recognize this man. meanwhile we knew know the identity of a man found shot and

killed on 4 fourth street northeast dc. police say james stuart's body was found friday morning. so far police say no one has been arrested. now to montgomery county where police are investigating a suspicious death there. a man's body was found just before midnight laying on a trail in castle boulevard in the briggs-cheney section of the county. he was taken to the medical examiner's office in baltimore where an autopsy will be conducted to determine how he died. also in montgomery county tonight it was a fiery scene on the beltway this morning. firefighters put out this car fire after this vehicle crashed. we're told the driver was not seriously hurt. firefighters say the flames began when fuel spilled after the crash. investigators are now trying to figure out what caused the accident. and in fairfax county, still no arr

elderly man found dead in his backyard. investigators say the 83-year-old man was shot to death at his home on river drive in lor ton. two neighbors living within a few hundred yards of the victim's property say they heard gunfire and more gunfire later. early reports indicate the victim was shot inside his home but the gunfire came from outside. still to com it was a big night in the fight against blood cancer. we're going to take you to the dc convention center where many members of the fox 5 family got all dressed up tonight for the annual leukemia ball. jennifer davis was there and has complete coverage, coming up.

as we showed you earlier major protests have disrupted the race for the white house. it's relatively quiet on the democratic side. sanders was campaigning in illinois today and clinton was in missouri. and they wasted no time attacking republican frontrunner donald trump. >> the american people will defeat donald trump. tonight and the nearly 2,000 guests there gathered for a lofty goal. jennifer davis was there and now joins us with this story. >> reporter: those involved in the fight against blood cancer say it's an exciting time because a lot of new drugs have become available or in the works to help patients battling these conditions. money is needed to fund research for these therapies and they're hoping to raise a lot of it at tonight's event. the leukemia ball is a night full of glitz and glamour. they come here with a goal to raise as much money to fight blood cancer. >> it's never a good time to get cancer but right now is a phenomenal time to be fighting it. tremendous advances in new therapies and actualually cures in the blood cancers. people here to support that effort. >> reporter: the goal at this year's event, raising

$3.2 million. >> when i was young, 13, a close friend of my younger brother wayne was diagnosed. i happened to be spending the night at his house the day he was diagnosed, six months later he was gone. and today the cure rates are over 90% for childhood leukemia. and why is that? because of the dollars going to research that lead to drugs and cures. >> money is raised through ticket sales and a vast silent auction with more than 400 items ranging from sports memorabilia to home decorrespond. along with a raffle of a mercedes benz. there were 240 medicines in the pipeline to treat cancers. the medicines are what save lives. >> i'm 11 now and i was five years old when i got diagnosed. it was hard.

through and people like me would have a cure finally and people would have to stop going through all of ta pain. >> our assistant news director has been fighting leukemia for i believe it's seven years now. and her inspiration to me and to the station and our employees is also what drives us. tonight is just an unbelievable night. it's probably one of the best nights in dc. 1750 people come in and try to race as much money as possible. >> i was diagnosed with a disease that's very rare. so there isn't as much research going on with it. so, you know, it would be great to be able to fund those rare -- research for the rare diseases as well. >> i'm in partial remission which in cll is a great thing because it never really goes away. it's a matter of just pushing it back. hopefully i'll have a long remission and the gre

that new drugs are coming on the market. really five or six new drugs since i've been diagnosed that when i need something the next time i won't probably need chemotherapy, there are pills, there are other therapies in the works. so i'm hopeful. >> she's hopeful and that's what matters. they say 1.2 million americans are living with blood cancer and right now one-third of all blood cancer patients don't survive five years. that's what they're fighting to change. >> it really is. patrick, our general manager was talking about margie who is a dear friend of ours and we've been supporting her the whole way. i have to say before margie was diagnosed i didn't know a lot about lymphoma or leukemia. but now going to light the night, seek a huge event like this, it really is an issue. what is great so many people are coming together to fight it and there's people in every walks of life that you found. >> we love margie and i agree we've learned so much from her.

naked ladies was there, their keyboardist was diagnosed with a form of leukemia. they're fighting it and they're doing it thanks to the new drugs that come from this kind of research and the money that pays for it. >> you've got to hope one day all of this money, all of this support will lead to a cure. >> i think they believe it will. >> i hope so. thanks so much. appreciate it. let's turn to the lovely gwen. hi, gwen. >> hi, how are you doing? >> the weather was nice enough where i could take my bike today but there wasn't a lot of sun. >> as long as you didn't wash your car. >> i washed it two weeks ago. >> if anybody washed your car today, you're not going to be happy with me come tomorrow. here comes the rain. i'm always serving up a variety of things on the weather buffet. we had 80s, we had 70s, we're in the 60s, some clouds and some

sun. now it's time for a little rain. we just keep the variety going on. that's exactly what's happening. beautiful shot out there tonight. things are changing and we are in that month of march where we just have to get ready and expect that to happen. some showers in the overnight hours. overnight, relatively speaking. i took a look at future cast. things are going to move in more into the very early hours of sunday morning. just be prepared for that. and sunday we are talking periods of some rain and some fog but you know what? it's not a total washout and you'll see that. but we are going to be into the 60s with the wet weather once we move into tomorrow. we're also talking temperatures rising at mid week back to those 70s again. so we get a nice rise in the mercury and unsettled late week again. many up and down with the sunshine and the rain showers. here's a look at the highs for today. into the low 60s and into the 50s as far as baltimore is concerned. but we're

seasonal average. a little closer for bwi. but overall not bad. and your current temperatures this hour, 55 at dulles, 56 degrees at martinsburg, we have 54 at dc, 48 degrees at annapolis, 56 at quantico, 54 degrees at culpeper and 58 at fredricksburg this hour. so this is the system we're watching. there's actually a couple of low pressure systems here in the deep south. this is going to move its way straight up the mid atlantic and right now i want to tell you this is producing some pretty hefpy flood situations for the people down in these areas here. this is going to gradually move its way straight up the mid atlantic and this is going to be our weather maker once we get into tomorrow. not much happening now. you can see how close it is but really not going to rule out that in the next few hours you might not see a sprinkle or two but i'm really not anticipating this coming in much before sunday in the very early morning hours. so that gulf moisture is going to move its way in and we're going to have to deal with it and it's going to get a litt

heavy sometimes. i don't really see any major flooding risk for us. but here's a look at what we're anticipating in the next -- i say 48 hours based on tonight and tomorrow really. a ridge of high pressure moving out, showers moving in and we're going to see it sticking around a bit into monday also. the beginning of your week is going to start just a little unsettled with a few of those showers. here we are as i said we've gotten past midnight but the early hours of sunday we start to see it moving in. you can see into louden they start to see into some of that. the heavier rain patches are right here. here's 10:00 in the morning. if you're heading out for morning services you want to keep this in mind. as you take a look into afternoon hours, we get a bit of a break. not a total washout. by evening this rain gets a little steadier. right through to 11:00 at night. be aware. sunday-monday are rain days. temperatures into the upper 50s. it's going to get a little cooler before it gets warmer all over again. 50 degrees for tonight then

end to daylight saving time. let's get the latest now from fox's bryan llenas. >> reporter: as most americans brace themselves for losing an hour of sleep, some corners of the country are considering eliminating daylight saving time. all in all 13 states are considering bills or resolutions wanting to change daylight saving time. there's no consensus as to how. california has a bill that would ask voters to abolish the practice of changing clocks twice a year. if the bill is passed and apriifd by the voters, the sulfate could join hawaii and most of arizona in choosing not to observe. in massachusetts and rhode island, they want to go further and shift to the atlantic time zone. >> atlantic time is we would stay in a perpetual state of daylight savings. we would be equal with

approximately eight months of the year and four months of the year we would be one hour ahead. >> daylight saving time began in the united states during world war i primarily to conserve energy by reducing the need to use artificial lighting. the department of transportation says it also reduces traffic accidents but studies say contrary to popular belief it does not save electricity and in fact it's bad for our health. >> the truth is the idea of taking new england and moving it off of new york time in order to put it on nova scotia time seems to be one of the worst ideas we've come up with in a long time. >> when we spring forward there are more heart attacks, more strokes, more workplace accidents all because we're giving millions of people jet lag at the same time and there's not enough competencery benefit in the fall to make up for it. >> reporter: the journal of the sleep medicines says it takes up
