>> winter won't go away. >> most of the area is set to go under a freeze watch or a freeze warning for tonight. some of you may even see some snow showers this weekend. gwen tolbart has our bh weather alert tonight. >> i never thought i would be saying this time of year, but yes, we are talking snow showers and temperatures well below seasonal. let's begin with a look at our radar and we'll show you where things are. we've got a system, a couple of them that will impact our area, one of them a clipper system going to be moving through. we will start to see some of this precipitation into the late overnight hours into the early early hours of saturday morning before dawn. temperatures right now, 48 degrees at dc, 41 at mannasas, we've got 40 at dulles, 41 at baltimore, that's the same at leonardtown, a little cooler atd frederick at 37 degrees. this kicks in at 11:00 tonight until 2:00

the higher elevations where this is shaded is where we anticipate seek anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of accumulation with some very gusty winds as well. bling snow and very poor visibility. as we come more to the east we have a freeze warning in effect from midnight until 9:00 a.m. saturday as those temperatures will start to drop and we are talking an overnight low of about 36 degrees. i'll let you know what to expect as we get more into our forecast a little later. and of course about those snow showers, back to you. >> all right gwen. thank you very much. today's deadline for adult entertainment venues in prince george's county to shut down has now come and gone. last week the permitting office sent 12 strip clubs operating in residential areas and without proper licenses cease and desist letters. stricter zoning laws put in place several years ago are helping the county with the crackdown. sarah simmons is here with the story. >> tony, today three out of the 12 businesses had to

shut down because they operate solely as adult entertainment locations which is illegal under county law. the county says it doesn't end here. inspectors will be out making sure all 12 locations are operating the way they should be. the three ordered to shut their doors permanently are feugo, upscale ballroom and club ectasy. prince george's county found these clubs were violating zoning laws established in 2012. other clubs that also operate as restaurants, bars, banquet halls can stay open but stripping is out as of 5:00 p.m. today. the rule is those businesses have to move to industrial zones throughout the county and officials say most of them are more than a thousand feet from residential areas. they consider this to be a big victory and it gets the adult entertainment away from neighborho

pretty much isolates them. these closings come more than a year after fox 5 investigated allegations of sex trafficking at many of these clubs. that investigation found illicit activities inside several clubs that are now being forced to shut down. a sex trafficking survivor who runs a safe haven organization for woman trying to get out sees these clubs are a breeding ground for sex traffickers and this is a step in the right direction. if they don't comply, they eventually will pads lock the businesses if they have to. >> staying in prince george's county, where police have charged a daycare provider in the death of a nine-month-old girl. beatrice manning is charged with first degree murder, assault and child abuse. police say manning called 911 from her in-home daycare back in december saying the baby was unresponsive. the little girl died two days

trying to do is just be assistants to the police and just detain, make sure no one gets hurt. i wasn't sure whether he had a gun or knife. >> reporter: it started when he noticed the young man trying to surf a train at gallery place. >> i just observed the individual that was in a very dangerous position. he put himself at risk by holding on to a train that was about to begin to move. and could have brought a lot of danger to himself as well as to others. >> reporter: thompson says when he asked the man to stop, the teen rider threatened him. >> he said to me, you know what? you get on this train, i'm going to stab you. at that point i said okay, it's time to get involved. >> reporter: guardian angels detained the young man until metro transit police arrived and took him away. police were busy again friday just after 1:00 when they stay a lavrnlg fight

teens. metro riders say safety is certainly a hot topic right now. >> i think the young people probably need some supervision or need some rules, some points on how to behave out in public. they represent their family and if their families knew they were behaving in that man or, i'm sure many families would not let them out. >> the safety has been okay. it would help if there were more police officers on it. but it hasn't been awful. >> metro's gm speaking to reporters on wednesday said there is much for the system to work on, but also said it still has strengths too. >> he woo do 1.2 million passengers a day, that's pretty strong, right? if you're moving that many people. i think maybe we lost a little bit of a sense of pride in it. through some things we're facing. but we can regain that. >> there's no word tonight about arrests in either of those cases.

avenue incident is expected to be okay. tonight there is more concern in the district. this time it's dc's circulator buses. drivers say the buses are unsafe and it's just a matter of time before someone gets hurt. last august '95% of the buses inspected had serious issues. a second audit second months ago found improvements but the bus driver's union disagrees. they have a contract with metro to oversee the circulator buses. they are working with the private contractor to monitor the progress. >> a dc woman is under arrest in connection with a deadly pedestrian accident in northwest. it happened around 1:30 in the morning on massachusetts avenue. police say a man was hit and killed after he stepped off of the curb. the driver was arrested on the scene and charged with driving under the influence. police have not identified the victim. a community in falls church is on alert

was spotted hanging around an elementary school playground. the principal sent a note home to parents alerting them of a suspicious man holding some type of a computer or tablet. the letter says he was standing outside a fence near the school's playground this afternoon. that's when security officials approached him and when they did, he took off. make sure the kids walk in groups and are always aware of their surroundings. >> still to come a new report shed light on what an accused drunk driver did in the hours before he allegedly hit and killed a montgomery county police officer. also ahead tonight it was a fight between passengers on board this plane, why is the airline being slapped with a lawsuit? >> and later, a die-hard nationals fan is rocking a zz top look and it's all because of a pact he made four years ago. we'll be back after this.

welcome back. do you remember this scene? a fight broke out on a spirit airlines fight last month over a loud boom box. it happened on a fight from baltimore to los angeles. two women were blasting music, punches were thrown, police eventually escorted five women off the plane when it landed. three of the passengers are suing the airline. they claim they were hurt during this fight and spirit did not protect them. they say the airline continued to serve alcohol despite the aggressive atmosphere. spirit denies those allegations. the former high school student accused of causing an accident that killed his friends pled guilty today to two counts of vehicular man slaughter. paul wagner has the story. >> when sam ellis got behind the wheel of his car and took off, prosecutors say he was under the influence of drugs and alcohol. court records show he had a

blood alcohol of between.07 and .09. he lost control of the car and crashed into a fence. two of his passengers, friends, were killed. >> today is not only a difficult day for all the families, there is no jumping for joy. there are no winners in this situation. it was a traj ig situation that happened and it certainly is reflected in what seemed to be the remorse of this young man coming forward and taking responsibility for his actions. >> reporter: prosecutors say ellis and his friends had been at the home of kenneth salzman, a parent who prosecutors say allowed the drinking to go on. he pled guilty and was fined $5,000. a fourth person in

survived. >> alex merk's family called today bitter sweat. while it relieves us to having to endure the endless pain, it drives home the cold hard fact that our son died at the hands of another human being. >> a recently revealed police report released new information about what led up to the crash ta killed noah leotta. the man told police he started drinking hours earlier at a hooter's on rockville pike. the restaurant says the bartender who served him has since been let go and all employees are required to undergo training. he had a blood alcohol level that was nearly three times the legal limit. he also admitted smoking a joint and taking a xanax earlier in the evening. a fairfax county mother is under arrest accused of neglecting her own child. julia brand was taken

news right now out of illinois. we are learning new details about the case involving denl is hastert. new court documents he pled guilty last october to breaking banking laws so he could secretly pay millions of dollars to an individual to keep that person quiet about past misconduct. prosecutors say they will ask a judge to sentence hastert up to six months in prison. >> leaders say they have successfully tested the engine of a new intercontinental ballistic rocket. it could give the ability to launch a nuclear strike on the united states. south korean officials dispute that notion saying north korea does not have a reliable missile capable of hitting the u.s. mainland. >> pope fran

he released his landmark document on catholicism, family and marriages. he made very bold arguments that are likely to stir controversy within the church. bob barnard has reaction. >> reporter: it's a 256-page, 60,000-word document that the vatican is calling the joy of love. you can find it online, here it is. pope francis is not changing any rules, just encouraging cats lick bishops and priests to take a more liberal and inclusive approach to divorced catholics who remarry. the pope says divorce i't evil. he finds it very troubling the increasing number of differs within the catholic church, but he says those people shut not consider themselves excommunicated and priests should offer them communion which officially they're not supposed to do. he wants them to show mercy.
