far. the cheefr just briefing us not too long ago. authorities respond to this right around 2:00 this afternoon. when they got a call they found a man downstairs near an elevator apparently had been stabbed. upstairs in an apparent they found a woman who was pronounced dead. there were no noticeable signs of forced entry. there is probably a connection between the two stabbing victims. he says it does not appear to be a random act of violence and it looks like there is no concern for the community. take a listen to the chief. >> the investigation revealed that there was another victim in another apartment or an apartment suffering from a traumatic injury. that person was transported to a local hospital where she

omd to her injuries. >> reporter: the tow truck was brought in about five minutes ago. it appears that they're going to load one of these cars on possibly. i'm just speculating here that possibly it belonged to one of the victims or somehow is connected to the investigation. once again, authorities responding here right around 2:00 this afternoon. a 36-year-old female was found here and pronounced dead. a male also found here had been stabbed. that's at least what police believe at this point and we're told he is in surgery. matt ackland, fox 5 local news. >> tonight ten students are facing charges in juvenile court after several fights broke out at hd woodson high school yesterday. police say all of the students taken into custody are female. including one of punching a cup. >> muriel bowser is

the violence which is taking place in other parts of the city as well. paul wagner joins us now from northeast with that story. paul? >> reporter: we want to tell you right off the top that a spokesperson for dc public schools today told me that the incidents of violence and suspensions are down 25% in dc public schools so far this year when compared to last year. and to our knowledge there was no trouble here at hd woodson today. however, yesterday was a different story where one student is accused of bawling up her fists and punching a cop. several fights including this one captured on a cell phone broke out inside the school yesterday afternoon. as school resource officers tried to keep the peace. three police reports described the variety of what officers described as rowdy behavior as they moved the students toward the cafeteria. one report police say a female student used a closed fist to

punch a police officer. in a third report, police officers were called to the school to help and found several fights in progress. all of the violence taking place after 1:00 in the afternoon. none of the reports indicated anyone received any kind of first aid or transport to the hospital. earlier today we asked dc mayor muriel bowser about the violence at wood son and other dc schools. >> we certainly inspect other students wherever they are to come port themselves in a way that's going to be safe for themselves and their fellow students. so we know at our schools that we have just like any urban school district, we have the proper amount of security and we're working in concert with other agencies on safe passage. >> i understand you're working with parks and rec to do some of this intervention, is that

>> well, we always have. there's always intervention from our human services agencies to work with students or young people wherever they are. >> reporter: how concerned are you? there seems to be an uptick in violence. >> we've had a couple of incidents and we're always concerned about keeping kids safe. >> so you don't plan on doing anything additional at this point? >> of course. we always get ready for our summer months with our safer stronger initiative and we're doing that this summer too. >> reporter: earlier today a statement from dc public schools was fairly lengthy so i can't include the entire part of what they had to say, but we do want to show you a little bit of what they had to say. and let's put it on the screen right now. according to michele learner, a spokesperson for dc public schools says we will take appropriate disciplinary steps for i am kating students as well as looking structural changes including mediation with involved parties so that incidents do not happen again. we will put the full

on our website. >> new tonight, we are getting a look at video of a violent robbery near howard university. dc police released the video hoping that it helps them identify the suspects. you can see here a group surrounding the victim hitting and kicking him. this happened on march 20th in the 26000 block of georgia avenue. they got into an argument prior to the assault and robbery. if you know anything that could help solve this case, please contact dc police. >> former virginia governor bob mcdonnell had his day before the court. tom fitzgerald had a front row seat for those arguments and joins us from the u.s. supreme court. tom? >> reporter: good evening, sarah. it was not hard to miss these justices sent

signal today that bob mcdonnell may be very well way on his way to having his corruption conviction overturned. you remember back in 2014 he was found guilty in a federal trial in richmond. but today these justices express serious concern that the federal prosecutors may have even exceeded their power in charging mcdonnell with a crime in the first place. think back to that trial back in 2014, both bob and his wife maureen were convicked of taking hundreds of thousands of dollars in luckstory gifts in exchange, prosecutors said, that mcdonnell let the governor's office to be used to promote his nutritional supplement company. the justices here today, they with

they suggested that prosecutors corruption charges were too broad. several questions letting a meeting occur or hosting a party actually constituted an official act by a governor. in particular the justice was very vocal on this today. he said if mcdonnell's conviction stood, almost everything a politician did or said could be labeled corruption. he added we are worried that prosecutors can be too over zealous and we need protection from that. all this was all over today, both the former governor and the attorney who will argue this case spoke to the media. >> the last 39 months i've never done anything that would the powers of my office. thank you for coming today. >> we fought this case on the beginning this was a charge that was just a bridge too far. we think our arguments came out well before the court today and we look forward to

decision. >> we should tell you that the federal prosecutor in the eastern district who brought these charges declined to speak after the hearing today. keep in mind, the former governor is facing two years in federal prison. he's been allowed to stay out while he's continued these appeals. if the court decides to overturn convictions, it will be up to the federal government to decide whether or not to try t case. we're expected to get a decision before this term ends at the end of june. tom fitzgerald, fox 5 local news. >> today a

and culpeper 61 with cumberland also at that same temperature. this is a dramatic change, anywhere from 25 to 39 degrees colder than where we were 24 hours ago. we have had no shortage of clouds today, a little bit of mist and drizzle out there. one batch of showers moving not too far from the shar lots vil area. we don't expect to see much from that but there could be a little bit of drizzle here and there. the cold front that passed us yesterday is now down to our south and it's kind of going to remain there. so there will be some weak areas of low pressure that ride along it bringing us a few more chances for some showers. i think we could see a scattered shower later tonight and we could also see one during the day tomorrow. if you are heading out to nats baseball tonight, i'm not worried about you getting wet. maybe a little bit of mist. maybe a bit of

we are just getting the clouds and showers out ahead of it. temperatures right now 56 in washington, 54 in baltimore, 55 gaithersburg, also 55 up in frederick. temperatures probably won't budge too much over the next few days. i know sue showed this off the top, but so dramatic it bears a second glance. look at this 24-hour temperature change. we knocked nearly 30 degrees off that high temperature. exceeding 30 degrees if you're in annapolis compared to where we were yesterday. so yes, it's not your imagination. back to the jackets and probably the umbrellas. fox future cast, clouds stick with us. it's mainly a dry night. you see those light showers go through pretty sparingly. by 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning count on some light rain for the commute. i know it was a difficult one earlier this morning and actually still is. but any rain will cause some headaches and it looks like that's the case for tomorrow morning. more showers are possible as we go through the afternoon and while everything is widely scattered and light we've got a

>> it turns out drunk driving can be a comblem in the air. a jet blue pilot has been charged in federal court accused of piloting packed flights to and from jfk airport while drunk. a fox news investigation looks at faa data finding there are other pilots who have been caught flying under the influence between 2010 and 2015. the records show 64 pilots were cited for v
