the violence which is taking place in other parts of the city as well. paul wagner joins us now from northeast with that story. paul? >> reporter: we want to tell you right off the top that a spokesperson for dc public schools today told me that the incidents of violence and suspensions are down 25% in dc public schools so far this year when compared to last year. and to our knowledge there was no trouble here at hd woodson today. however, yesterday was a different story where one student is accused of bawling up her fists and punching a cop. several fights including this one captured on a cell phone broke out inside the school yesterday afternoon. as school resource officers tried to keep the peace. three police reports described the variety of what officers described as rowdy behavior as they moved the students toward the cafeteria. one report police say a female student used a closed fist to

punch a police officer. in a third report, police officers were called to the school to help and found several fights in progress. all of the violence taking place after 1:00 in the afternoon. none of the reports indicated anyone received any kind of first aid or transport to the hospital. earlier today we asked dc mayor muriel bowser about the violence at wood son and other dc schools. >> we certainly inspect other students wherever they are to come port themselves in a way that's going to be safe for themselves and their fellow students. so we know at our schools that we have just like any urban school district, we have the proper amount of security and we're working in concert with other agencies on safe passage. >> i understand you're working with parks and rec to do some of this intervention, is that
